Region | Unknown Regions
System Name | Thetis System
System Features |

  • Star: Yasut, K-type main sequence star (young, roughly 15 billion years old)
  • Planets & Moons:
    • Pythia
    • Nepthys
    • Velorum
      • Byur: Miniscule in comparison to both its sister moon and mother planet, Byur is a rocky moon composed mainly of naturally compacted stone and frozen, icy lakes. The surface of Byur is heavily battered and the moon itself lacks a dense enough atmosphere to burn up even smaller meteors. Gravity has been calculated as roughly 90% standard.
      • Fjord: Fjord is a captured terrestrial moon with an arid climate and dense atmosphere. The celestial body is a mystery in that it operates in the rare pairing of having a retrograde orbit, traveling in the opposite direction of its mother planet, as well as being tidally locked to Velorum. Fjord has sparse, hardy plant life and has exhibited temperatures as high as 54 degrees Celsius. Often, winds will pick up, fueled by high atmospheric pressure, sweeping dust and sand with it and forming windstorms that produce gusts that may reach up to 209 kilometres per hour.

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

Gravity |

Climate | Arid to arctic
Primary Terrain |

  • Tundra and Taiga: Taigas and tundras make up the smallest percentage of terrain on Velorum, strolling in at a casual 8% of the total landmass. Found exclusively in the upper portions of both the southern and northern hemispheres and dominated by snow, a myriad of evergreen plants, and steep mountains, these two biomes are surprisingly green for a third of a standard Velorian year. For the rest of the year, thick blankets of ice and snow cover the surrounding earth and rock. Blizzards are an all too common occurrence in the winter wonderlands of Velorum. Not all is frozen and bleak, however. Many streams and large rivers spurred by soaring cascades flow year-round, ebbing with the melting and falling of snow, all leading down into the seas.
  • Temperate Forests: Seen predominantly in the southern hemisphere, seasonal forests on Velorum are known for their gnarled tree trunks and gigantic specimens of trees that are second only to those seen in the taigas. Water in this region is bountiful and quite clean, sanitized by rock and minerals, carving through the soil as runoff. The soil in these forests is soft and rich in nutrients that a host of planets can use to feed, sustain, and maintain themselves. For the most part, forests are left undisturbed and only smaller cities and settlements may be found here outside of religious sites and pilgrimage destinations. The trees are a vibrant, emerald green through Loralt and Nofra, the Velori spring and summer respectively, leaving little to be desired in its scenery and sounds of life everlasting. Ogenra, autumn, brings about a colorful display as the leaves die and fall to return their nutrients to the soil, replenishing the land in preparation for the next year’s spectacle, until branches lay barren and the grass turns yellow-green. Ogenra is often referred to as the end of the year. The end of one cycle, making way for the new. Finally, Jarith, Velori winter, brings about a chill in the bones and marks the beginning of a new year. The land is cold and frozen in spots, but in its desolation lies hope for rebirth in Loralt.
  • Grasslands: Grasslands may be found throughout the world, both on the main supercontinent and well as the smaller continents and island chains. On the mainland, they often transition the primary deserts into forests or blend into taigas the closer one gets to the poles. They’re spotted with various flowers and wild and edible plants as well as a variety of smaller game. The grass that grows may be varying heights depending on the amount of water readily available to promote seasonal growth. The hills are smooth here, rolling effortlessly and seem to stretch endlessly beyond all horizons.
  • Deserts: Accounting for roughly 70% the Velori surface, deserts often range from hot to semi arid in classification. Large and peculiar landscapes dot the landscape and are often used as markers on trade and travel routes. Many pilgrimages are plotted through the deserts to test the devotee’s perseverance and survival instincts. There are areas of water, however it must be purified if the water is not running. One major river flows through the desert and it is currently the only charted body of running water in the sparse deserts of the Velori supercontinent, Endura.
  • Freshwater: Any surface not claimed by land is carved out or otherwise surrounded by freshwater. The seas of Velori are made up of freshwater, covering roughly45% of Velori overall. The waters of Velori glow an evanescent blue thanks to the large amounts of bioluminescent phytoplankton that dwell within it. To obtain drinkability, naturally, it’s recommended that one boil the water and allow it to cool properly unless hot water is required. The glowing waters of the ringed celestial are often referred to as the Light’s Refrain or simply as the Refrain by the natives. Oceans are named thus, featuring Korthaen and Galava Quur, Tempest and Culling Refrain respectively. Within the oceans depths lie behemoth beasts that rule the abyss below and those that they hunt, ranging from the smallest minnow to the greatest of serpents. Many a sailor prays for Adite’s blessing before setting a foot on a boat that must cross any major Refrain. In smaller bodies, a variety of fish may be found and hunted for food and commonfolk may find solace and vitality in their communities.

Major Locations |

Endura
  • Vaglaskógi: A hub of life and technology concealed in sandstone marvels, Vaglaskógi is the Capital of Velorum and it can be
    eric-pfeiffer-7-15-18.jpg
seen clearly from space as a mass of glowing light in the middle of the deserts of Endura. A conurbation, Vaglaskógi is known as the hub and is the spitting image of Velori life for those who are fortunate enough to be born Force Sensitive. Teeming with life and color and warmth, the city boasts multiple districts and rings to regulate population and overall growth. A tourist attraction for those that travel near and far to the planet at the edge of the Galaxy, the city hosts events daily ranging from speeder races to theatrical and fine arts performances. The skyline is riddled with sandstone spires, featuring domed and vaulted ceilings on nearly all buildings that blend together. Despite its endless pitch and yaw of sandstone towers and properties, the streets are quite orderly, painting clean and precise grids through the chaotic entanglement of the provincial land. At night, it’s a star in its own right, casting light into the void of space.
  • Idosa: Straddling either side of Ayeta Bridge, one of the few running bodies of water on Endura, stands Idosa. Proud and
    tarmo-juhola-kupolistadi.jpg
bold in her wealth. Dominating the skylines as well as the economic stability of Endura are the Vol Karothi, the Four Legates. Idosa is run by these Legates in the same manner that a royal family may run their government. Each Legate is responsible for the successful regulation and operation of an aspect of the Velori economy. The City of the Merchant Kings is heavily guarded and under constant surveillance, seeing roughly 12 dispatches of patrols that roam the streets at any given moment in time and drones fly over the ports to scan cargo and monitor for suspicious activity. Shipments come in daily from all across Velorum, both by land and water, gaining inventory through the Silver Market or Alirion Port respectively.
    leon-tukker-magic-city2-as.jpg
  • Seeker’s Respite: Located in the southern region of Endura, where the harsh desert meets the luscious grasslands, the Respite is open only to Seekers and their pupils. Any civilians without proper authorization from a recognized Seeker regent, or domain/region, or a civilian without a Seeker escort will be cut down without hesitation. The Respite is a holy city as well as the center of the regent’s government, where leaders of each region meet and discuss important internal and external matters regarding the collective regent and Seeker interaction with the outside world.
  • Highid’s Summit: Nestled in the northernmost corner of Endura, Highid’s Summit is one of the most treacherous climbs any thrill seeker can attempt. Most do not
    philipp-a-urlich-cpncept198b6.jpg
attempt as climbing signifies that one has business with the Caelisaja, the Consul of the Gods. The peak features a constant uphill climb with steep, rocky terrain. The lone trail that leads to the perch at the top is extremely narrow and a roughly 30 - 1,370 meter drop lines most of the path to one side. It is said that only monarchs, high officials, the Sajakandi (Consul’s Attendants), and Seekers will be allowed by the caelicolum, a word loosely translating to gods, to ascend the mountain unharmed. Such officials may be accompanied. However, should their companions have ill intent or be found unworthy, they may be struck down through an unlucky bout of misfortune.
Jinnse
  • Jorat: A sprawling city that sits atop Jouvelle Atoll, Jorat spans
    christian-dimitrov-sfc-2500.jpg
the entire atoll. It appears to float upon the sea. The people of Jorat are humble, kind, and often specialize in hydrokinesis, manipulating the water to catch fish or herd a school into a localized area in order to catch them with nets. Being situated on the water, the Jorati people have occupations such as fisherman, divers, salvagers, and sailors, calling on Adite’s favor and grace frequently. Offerings and prayers are given at the feet of her statue, which features Adite aiming her bow to the east, ready to defend Endura at a moment’s notice. Jorat features the grandest of towers to the humblest of homes, paying homage to the original settlers of the atoll by preserving a district to remain as it had been found with the only modifications made being upkeep to preserve the nature of the village as best as they can. Jorat, as it currently stands, is overseen by the Sauret’runa (translating roughly to House Sauret, literally meaning the descent of Sauret) who tend to the people and ensure stability as well as loyalty to both the Vol Korathi and the Aeterna Symmetria.
  • Arcadian Stonerun: On the mainland, jutting from the forests and hills and disputing the tranquility of the countryside, the Stonerun may appear to be an eyesore but locals proclaim it as anything but. The hijarna stone mountain stands at a mere 457
    greg-rutkowski-brass-s-bounty.jpg
meters, featuring open and subterranean gold strains and mines, as well as wide trails and roads to allow workers, equipment, and transport vehicles alike to traverse to their respective stations. Terrakineticists, those who have chosen to specialize in manipulating earth, may be employed as constructors of mineshafts, using their gifts to clear the path for new tunnels. They may also be inspectors who ensure that the path that is craved is sound and solid so as to minimize collapses and on site injuries or those who inspect the collected gold to ensure authenticity. Non-Force sensitives may be miners, drivers, pilots, or managers of tunnels or even entire mining stations. The Stonerun features four (4) major stations that are all housed under Vabalos Logistics, owned by Kathel’runa.
  • Ljónó: The collective name for caves and pockets of volcanic activity, Ljónó spans Velor
    terraform-studios-finnian-macmanus-untitled-1-2.jpg
um in capacities both large and small. Caves, streams, active and dormant volcanoes, and ravines that feature its lava flows all contribute to the formation of much of the planet’s unharvested wealth. What wealth by the way of material gain and mineral collection and pawning is used with humility and a sense of reverence. Due to the abundance of precious metals and resources afforded to them, the Vané are able to create currency of pure metal and maintain a stable economy. They also have resources stocked in reserved treasury to prevent indulging in these precious resources until they are either in short supply or entirely gone in their current lifetime. However, acquiring some of these metals and even some subterranean minerals require special suits and extensive training lasting 1 standard Velorian year. Even after training, a Vané must be willing to either continue to pursue pyrokinesis or train in it with a group of peers that seek to enter this particular line of work. Alternatively, if the prospective worker is a terrakineticist or shows interest in developing the skill, they may pursue such a path. Both paths take years of training to reach sufficient proficiency that will allow them to pass the graduation examinations and enter their chosen career path. Though few of these hopeful graduates venture into the depths of Ljónó, all are drawn to the discovery of the unknown that lie beneath the soil.
Yor
  • Resole: Tucked away in the recesses of the Mokosh mountain range, Resole is a small village and seemingly insignificant in the grand scheme of things. For the Vané, the dominant humanoid species of Velorum, Resole is widely recognized as the birthplace and first settlement of the Vané. Over time, it’s grown to include homes with second floor housing and a few
    andreas-rocha-hiddenvillage01.jpg
modern conveniences in order to communicate with the wider world. However, much like sections of Jorat, Resole largely keeps to the old ways. This may be followed in ways such as the Symmetry (the Force) being used to accomplish small tasks as a means of improving efficiency, or fishing and hunting being done by using primitive/handmade tools and weapons. Resole is a federally protected site, as is the mountain range on which it sits. Due to this, it is heavily guarded and patrols are constant in the distant mountain pass, forests, and rivers that surround the village to ensure that those that choose to live in the settlement may live a peaceful, simple, and honest life.
  • Saorsa: Deep within the Mokosh mountains, roughly a day’s hike from Resole, stand the remnants of the beginning of the Vané’s understanding of the Symmetry. Stories passed from parent to child tell of Saorsa, a fortress city that dominated the skies and land of Yor and once housed all of the Raverí forces and disciples. In millenia past, it was the beginning of
    eduardo-pena-axzor1a.jpg
everything, where the Skapari (roughly translating to founders in Galactic Basic, literally meaning creators) communed with Echor, the embodiment of balance and time, and were granted the Symmetry as its keepers and guardians. Evermore, the Raverí, and by extension the Vané, have been tasked with keeping balance within it by harnessing it and maintaining internal and external balance. Where once there was a bastion of stone, technology, and an abundance of nature, nature and time have reclaimed their territory and what persists are tales that some regard as myth and others that regard the stories as truth.
    ben-nadler-rotr-mp-05.jpg
  • Echor's Maw: Hidden deep within Brattur, the smaller chain of mountains in Mokosh’s shadow, lies a vast cave system that extends several kilometres into the rocky earth beneath Velorum’s surface. These caves are known collectively as Echor’s Maw, otherwise known as Myrkur by natives. Each connected cave system is marked by two yellow rays as a symbol that a prospective journeyman is on the correct path. The caves are littered with frozen water, glazed with ice and entrances rampant with snowfall from frequent blizzards. Within Echor’s Maw, one will initially find only slippery stones and treacherous falls awaiting them. However, should one reach out through the Force, it is often said the Echor will guide and protect those who seek out the gods. Deep within the caverns, each Vané that seeks out the veiled secrets will find kyber crystals with which they connect. The crystals are viewed as physical manifestations that the gods live and work through the species as conduits of their will. Each color is correlated with a deity, often seen as a symbol of a Vané’s devotion to that deity, a sign to begin their works. It’s also widely accepted that a deity will choose a Vané and never the other way around. Most will say that the gods are there to guide them through a journey in life. Deities may change as a being grows and once the deity feels that the being has learned or fulfilled what they must, they will signal the end of their relationship and the respective devotee is free to seek out another deity if they feel drawn to one. Otherwise, the deity with whom they previously worked with will be pronounced their patron and the Vané may choose to devote themselves to that specific deity, continuing their work and honoring the deity accordingly. Kyber crystals may be found only in the northern hemisphere of Velorum, within Echor’s Maw, making the site a key spiritual pilgrimage.
POPULATION

Native Species |

  • Vané
    • To Be Subbed/Linked
  • Various non-sentient and semi-sentient species
Immigrated Species |
  • None, yet
Population | Moderate
Demographics | As Velorum is just emerging from isolation, the only species that are prevalent are the Vané themselves, comprising roughly 78% of the world’s population. Because of this statistic, the Moraq were created to help with population control so that food and resources are not burnt out due to increased mining and hunting parties caused by the perceived overpopulation of the regions. The remaining 22% consists of native fauna used for transport, food, clothing production, and companionship.
Primary Languages |

Hár Resyn’eth [Roughly translating to High Resyn’eth, literally meaning Old Resyn’eth]
  • Reserved for the nobility, those who work in the military, and the Moraq, Hár Resyn’eth is the more complicated and more grammatically accurate version of the common tongue in comparison to Galactic Basic. Often this language will be used in court gatherings, official meetings, and on original copies of all laws that have been drafted and passed in the history of the Vané.
Resyn’eth
  • The mother tongue, Resyn’eth is thought to be the language of the forefathers, of the first Vané to ever walk atop Velorum’s surface. A civilized yet rudimentary language by Galactic Standard, Resyn’eth features hardened consonants and vowels often vary from region to region. Those in Endura often pronounce vowels aggressively, a shallow and sharply accented sound akin to the pronunciation in Hár Resyn’eth. Vané that hail from Yor often pronounce vowels with a wide and round pattern, claiming that it is the true and only correct way to pronounce the Vané tongue. An encounter with one from Jinnese may find that vowels and consonants may often vary in pronunciation, a trademark of the level of trade that they conduct. Jinnesians are often thought to be deceptive as they can easily switch between pronunciations to fit the region that they’re traveling to. Nevertheless, they are viewed as hard workers and honest people and this, more often than not, supersedes rumor and superstition. Resyn’eth, naturally, is incorporated in everyday life, from jokes and slang among youth to translated government documents and decrees from the aristocracy.
Vetra’Grunn [Roughly translating to Galactic Basic, literally meaning Galactic Key]
  • While it is quite patchy and accents are extremely heavy due to the nature of the Vané mother tongue, it is slowly becoming commonplace. Those who venture off-world do so and often return home, sharing the knowledge of what they learn. The academia and new words spark curiosity and the language has even been implemented into schools, becoming a required 4 year speech and pronunciation course for upcoming scholars as well as a 5 year reading and writing course. Adults must adapt as well, with the learning and minimum mastery of the speech and writing of Vetra’Grunn often being required for positions and promotions within corporations who specialize in trade, commerce, economics, and business pursuits. Vetra’Grunn is quickly becoming a second language to the Vané, preceded only by the common tongue of Resyn’eth.
Culture | [ General overview of the inhabitant's behaviors. This should include information about daily life, society, arts, sports, religion. ]

Emerging Isolationism

  • The ancient inhabitants of Velorum were easily swayed by the influence of outsiders, those who wielded the elements with an ease that was only known by the gods. These people came, sewed unrest and weariness into the hearts of men and since those days, the natives have been distrustful of those who wielded unseen powers. Through the years, this caution and unease stuck. Until recently. The reigning Keisari alongside the Sjáendur (Council) [Will name this when I remember it] ruled that they could no longer live in fear of the unknown. Velorum’s borders were open and the teaching of unseen Force techniques became encouraged and routinely taught. Those brave enough to set sail among the stars were allowed to do so and the monarchy planned to set up an embassy to welcome any foreign powers that dared to venture to the edge of the Galaxy.
Education & The Arts
  • Education is placed upon a pedestal in Velorian society, though it’s readily available to all who pursue it. In the current age, all Velorians strive to obtain as much knowledge and influence within the realms of the various academia as they can in order to keep up with fast-paced innovation and an ever-growing society. Education starts at a young age, roughly when a child is 4 suns old. From there, the standard education continues in young adulthood. There has been an increase in scholars and the creative arts. People have become far more expressive and they’re continually challenged to think “outside of the box”. Artists and sciences flourish with federal funding. Staying afloat is never a problem, but all fight to stay ahead of their time, always searching for ways to improve things to be better and more efficient. Education is the gateway to the wider world and the greater Galaxy. Many are eager to learn of the stars, setting out after advanced studies to catalog and record all that the Galaxy has to offer. Many of these courageous explorers are considered government workers and are paid handsomely for their daring and dangerous professions.
Servitude
  • Servants are generally defined as those who’ve fallen out of balance, captives, those who owe large debts, and people who abuse the powers of either the Light or the Dark aspects of the Symmetry in Vané culture. To determine whether someone has fallen out of balance or abused the Symmetry’s gift, the accused as well as a delegation from the government are sent to the Dómari, the spiritual adjudicator that is believed to contain the spirit of the courier of the gods. It passes judgement and, if found guilty, the accused will be sent to a House where they will serve out their sentence. This House will give them a temporary mark of servitude, both as protection and as a visible mark so that the gods may see them more clearly. Criminals, however, are convicted in court and sentenced to rehabilitation fitting of their crimes. Extreme or otherwise severe crimes are punishable by exile. Those that owe debts will work for those they are indebted to until their debts are paid. However, this only extends to the accused and their spouse, should they have one. It will never extend to the family.
Widely regarded as a form of absolution in the eyes of the gods, servitude, as well as those who serve, are viewed as necessary and essential to the ebb and flow of life on Velorum. Every action must have a consequence. Servants themselves are paid for their labor, none of which may be collected for debts during their tenure. However, obtaining a second job is often discouraged and frowned upon, as it’s believed to distract from one’s mission of making amends with the gods. Servants are treated as any other citizen would be. They must be respected, they are treated normally, they may speak at public hearings so that their voice may still be heard. The only freedom that is restricted is the right to vote. Furthermore, crime against a servant, especially those that result in injury or death, are viewed nearly as low as those who force another to invoke Vegsmed, an ancient code that deals with violating another's trust and honor, because servants are attempting to repent and make things right. To harm a servant is to spit in the face of the gods, their mercy, and their justice.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY

Government |
Magocratic Monarchy
Affiliation | GOV'T NAME {Official Government}
Wealth | High - Due to the bounty of unexploited resources, precious metal and mineral deposits, as well as the treasury kept by the government, Velorum is quite wealthy and plentiful. Most of the wealth that is obtained by the Vané is equally distributed between the people and the treasury, supporting a stable economy, buildinging the working class and funding businesses that give out jobs.
Stability | High - With the newest monarch regaining the trust of their people, stability has never been higher on Velorum. The borders are open and people of both Velorum and the Galaxy are able to come and go as they see fit. The Keisari now works within the best interests of their people and their domain, passing laws and revising institutions to ensure proper order that was sorely lacking. All are free to do as they please, so long as it does not harm another being without just cause.
Freedom & Oppression | Freedom has gained a new meaning on Velorum. Under the new monarchy, all Vané are allowed to trade and travel as they see fit. Off-world travel is encouraged through posters, adverts, holofilms, and is often backed by government pay and funding. Restrictions on who may become scholars, official scribes, and librarians were limited, allowing any to learn Hár Resyn’eth and secure a job at the top of the academia career ladder. With their newfound freedom, the Vané have sparked a fire within themselves, straight from the belly of Ljónó. All are encouraged to rise and make their mark on the world or off of it, if they so choose. Every job and career is stressed to be of the utmost importance to the continuation and stability of their society, thus every occupation is filled and pays well. Velorum is truly in it’s Golden Age.

MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY

Military |
Currently, the Vané have their own Army, Fleet, and police force. With the discovery of new technology from voyages into the Galaxy, the citizen’s have petitioned for flight schools and the government has cheerfully provided. There are currently 3 flight schools that all may attend after graduation from primary studies. The Army is strictly on a volunteer basis, there have not been drafts since the Senary War. Applicants to any of the forces must be physically and mentally stable, passing various examinations and courses in a respective Forge. Each Forge is specialized for, funded by, and run by their respective parent force and is essentially a graduate school for prospective members.

Force sensitives are not discouraged from joining a particular force. In fact, it’s strongly encouraged should they find that the Raverí, the neutral Force Order of the Vané, isn’t the right position for them. They are not separated or treated any differently than your typical soldier and, during training in a Forge, use of the Force is strictly prohibited on-duty or off-duty in military installations. If an applicant is caught or reported to have used the powers that the Symmetry grants, pending an investigation, the applicant is likely to be expelled and banned for half a Velorian year from all military forces.

The military of Velorum is rapidly expanding and, like many things in the society, is constantly improving.

Technology | Above Galactic Standard - In the beginning of an age of innovation, the Vané are constantly searching the stars and bringing back schematics and even parts for new technologies. The explorers bring back blueprints, the engineers build them, and the technologically-inclined seek a variety of ways with which to improve upon them. Among these revolutions is a more efficient version of a bacta injectant and alternative energy forms.

  • Distrust of others, borders closed, iron grip on the planet by 3rd Keisari [Úlfur Caeli’runa & Picture]
  • Restriction, restriction, restriction
  • Claimed to be protecting the people from Force users with “unseens powers”, positively accepted due to government-generated propaganda [Intense fear of the unknown]
    • I was thinking like when they became isolationist maybe like an over opposing government came into place and kind of ruined a lot of innovation and such so they never had a chance to thrive as they should

    • “ Then when the current one lifted restrictions and they ventured out, they found a lot of newish technology, but also found ways to make it better. Then perhaps the government funneled money into arts as well, knowing how important it was to end isolationism, hoping the tourism the arts would bring will help move them into a strong position in the galaxy. And like the arts may have started as a government campaign, but passion for it has spread like wildfire”
