SPECIAL FEATURES
- Structural Installation: Vélaris is installed throughout a compatible structure, such as a residence, starship, station or facility. During installation, the system scans and calibrates itself to the structure and its surfaces. Significant structural modifications require the affected areas to be recalibrated.
- Simulation Zones: Users can choose where Vélaris operates. It can affect a single room, several selected areas or the entire calibrated structure. Different zones can also operate independently.
- Room Mode: The simplest operating mode. Vélaris uses holographic and solid-holographic simulation to modify an existing room without changing its actual dimensions. Walls can display different environments, furniture and decorations can be replaced or added, and simulated objects or characters can interact with the occupants. The user remains fully aware of and physically present within the real room.
- Full Simulation Mode: The complete simulation mode. Instead of simply modifying the room, Vélaris immerses its occupants within a simulated reality. Users can walk, run, climb, fall, interact with objects and experience the environment as though they had physically entered it. The apparent dimensions and geometry of the simulation are independent from those of the real room, with Vélaris managing the users' actual positions within the physical space.
- Solid Simulation: Simulated objects, surfaces, terrain and characters can possess physical resistance, allowing users to touch, hold, move, sit upon or otherwise interact with them.
- Complete Environment: Simulations can include landscapes, buildings, weather, characters, creatures, objects, sound, temperature, airflow and other environmental effects.
- Multi-User: Multiple users can enter and experience the same simulation simultaneously.
- Holographic Interfaces: Interactive holographic interfaces can be generated and physically manipulated within either simulation mode. When connected to a compatible external system, these interfaces can function as genuine controls rather than simulated props. This allows users to operate compatible systems directly from within the simulation, such as controlling a starship, accessing a computer, operating machinery or sending a message through a connected datapad.
- Programmable Simulation: Environments and scenarios can be created, stored, modified and controlled manually, automatically or by a compatible artificial intelligence.
- Structural Containment: Everything generated by Vélaris remains part of the simulation network and cannot physically exist beyond the calibrated structure.
- ADA can control this technology too.
STRENGTHS
- Two Operating Modes: Vélaris can either modify an existing physical environment through Room Mode or completely immerse its users through Full Simulation Mode.
- Structure-Wide System: Unlike an individual simulation chamber, Vélaris can operate across an entire calibrated structure or only within selected areas.
- Full Immersion: Full Simulation Mode allows users to experience environments vastly larger or completely different from the physical space actually containing them.
- Physical Interaction: Simulated objects and entities can possess convincing physical properties and interact directly with users.
- Highly Versatile: The same system can serve as decoration, entertainment, training, education, experimentation or any other purpose compatible with a simulated environment.
- AI Compatible: Artificial intelligences can control and dynamically modify active simulations.
- Adaptable: if the structure differs, simply rescanning the area allows the technology to adapt. This enables installation in various environments a house, a spacecraft, a specific location, etc.
WEAKNESSES
- Structural Containment: Simulations remain bound to the calibrated structure. Simulated objects and entities cannot physically leave the Vélaris network.
- Calibration Required: The system must first scan and calibrate itself to the structure in which it is installed. Major modifications to that structure require recalibration.
- Psychological Impact: Full Simulation Mode is designed to be experienced as reality. Pain, danger and even simulated death can therefore feel genuine to the participant. If a user "dies," their simulation immediately terminates, but the memory and sensation of the event remain. Repeated or particularly traumatic experiences can cause panic, psychological distress or difficulty separating simulated experiences from reality.
- Power Dependency: The simulation requires continuous power. A shutdown immediately terminates active simulations and returns users to their perception of the real environment.
- EMP/Ion Vulnerability: Strong electromagnetic or ion interference can disrupt or disable the system.
- System Vulnerability: Damage to the Core, field network or control systems can disable affected simulation zones.
- Security: A compromised Vélaris system could alter what users see, hear, feel and physically experience within a simulation.
- Hacker : The hackers can attack the structure and display whatever they want on the projection.
DESCRIPTION
The Vélaris Structural Simulation Core was developed by ADA CORP in its laboratories on Nar Shaddaa at the request of Lyssara and Nyva, with ADA primarily pursuing the project as a means of helping Lyssara. Its concept was inspired by the simulation chambers used within the Jedi Temple, but rather than limiting the technology to a dedicated chamber, ADA CORP adapted the principle so that it could be integrated throughout an entire structure.Once installed, Vélaris scans and calibrates itself to the structure, after which its users can define which areas are connected to the system. Room Mode simply transforms those areas, changing their appearance and adding interactive holographic elements while retaining their real dimensions. Full Simulation Mode instead allows users to fully enter and experience a simulated reality, with Vélaris managing their physical positions while the simulation provides its own apparent space, distance and geometry.
In short, Room Mode changes the room; Full Simulation Mode lets you enter the simulation.
