ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • "Screamer" Active Jammer
  • Pulse Ray Shields: The Vaskai's pulse ray shields are weaker than your standard shield system. They can usually take at max, one direct hit from a standard blaster before they are completely depleted. With that in mind, they are pretty worthless. However, they regenerate at a tremendous speed--with a great cost. For three seconds, all power can be diverted to the Vaskai's pulse ray shields to give them a moment to reach their full health (Be that every so small). When this happens, all of the Vaskai's other systems temporarily shut down since all power has been diverted to the shields except for basic life support. For those three seconds the Vaskai cannot shoot, and it cannot go faster or maneuver; it will be carried the whole time it will be carried by momentum in whatever direction it was going in originally unless its acted upon by an outside force like a tractor beam or gravity or anything like that. Any attempts to re-enforce the shields or make them stronger would completely destroy the Pulse Ray shield unit entirely. This ability cannot be bypassed with any amount of alteration without removing the Pulse ray shields. Essentially, if you want the Pulse Ray's abilities to repair so quickly, you must be willing to take the weak protection and dead-in-the-water state with it.
  • Modifiable mounts: Each of the three mounts on the Vaskai can be easily changed for other cannons with ease. This is great, and a tool that many pilots can use to maximize their ship's potential before each battle. However, these take time and require both time and a shop with the right tools to do that. This is a great tool, however it is not that unique. What is truly unique about the modifiable mounts is each one can be replaced with an "artificial launcher." Each launcher can hold a maximum of 3 any fighter size ordinance. This can be very helpful for making bombing runs against larger ships, however this is dangerous since the payload is considerably smaller than standard bombers and ordinance tends to be a one and done deal.
Strengths:
  • Modifications: The greatest thing about the Vaksai Mk 2 is its adaptability. This ship is incredibly easy to work on and lends herself to modifications with ease, just like her predecessor. Different subs are recommended for variations on the Vaksai Mk 2. For instance, this ship could easily have a stealth device or a cloaking device added, but for something that large, another submission is recommended for distinction.
  • Hearty: The Vaksai is relatively hearty for her size. With a strong hull and great framing, this ship is good at going the distance in battles. She can hold her own in standard dog fights with standard blaster shots and any sort of things like that. The Vaskai is a little bit tougher than an X-wing in terms of durability.
  • Well-rounded: Second to its ability to be modified, the Vaksai Mk 2's biggest drawing card is its well-rounded nature. It can quickly switch from short bombing runs, to dog fights, to patrol and escort services.
  • Speed: This fighter does have a little extra speed under the hood, giving her the advantage in fighting ships of her size and those under it. Running from Vaksai is challenging, even with her stock engines. She doesn't have TIE fighter speed or maneuverability, but it is enough to stay within firing range of most fighters during air space (if the pilot is skilled enough in what they are doing).
  • Quick Shield repair: The Pulse Ray shields can be replaced, but should the owner choose to keep them, they can quickly repair to full health in a mere 3 seconds--at a price.
Weaknesses:
  • Modifications: For each modification, there is a cost. For instance, advanced inertial dampners could be added for increased maneuverability, but could cost the ship speed or firepower. For every benefit gained, there is a cost.
  • Weak shields: Keeping with the ship's original design, the Vaksai Mk 2 has weak shields, even if it does have a hearty hull. These could be upgraded, however this would come at a cost to the shield's abilities to regenerate.
  • Small Squadrons: Next to its shielding problems, the size of a Vaksai squadron is the second biggest issue. They have a lot of firepower--but they are also relatively expensive. Vaksai Mk 2's have smaller-than-average squadrons, so deploying them in swarm tactics is pretty challenging.
  • Pulse Ray Shield: The entire ship goes dead in the water for 3 seconds when the Pulse ray shields are activated. The result causes the Vaskai Mk 2 to be completely helpless while the ship powers its shields back up.

A highly modified Vakasi Mk 2

Description:

The Vaksai was one of the most underrated and overlooked--but effective--fighters in the history of the galaxy. With her ability to be modified, the Vaksai found herself the weapon of choice among pirates and other less-than-noble individuals. It was this ability that inspired Brent to look into making this ship more relatable to the modern galaxy. Smith and Westworld kept with the original, cutting design with her unique, rugged design and concept, but they overhauled virtually everything else.

The engines were changed to a more modern, reliable ion drive that supplied the Vaksai mk 2 with the speed that gives this beautiful ship the ability to stay lethal to fleeing ships or quickly close the gap on ships in a rush-attack. This came at the cost of shield strength and some maneuverability--however with the right level of modification this could be changed--at the cost of something else in the ship's abilities.

Brent intentionally left the Vaksai Mk 2 open to a great deal of modularity. Smith and Westworld wanted to make this ship able to fill any need that someone could have with the right level of elbow grease and parts. Whether its a it's a stealth device, upgraded engines, mower powerful sensors, better shields--the sky is the limit, so long as the modifier knows what they are doing and are willing to draw power away from other systems.

Due to her size, cost, and fuel requirements, the Vaksai is unable to be deployed in massive swarms. Even her squad size is relatively small. This fighter is best used instead by elite pilots that are able to maximize her speed and upgrades to lead other fighters into combat. It is the ability to be anything to anyone that makes the Vaksai the great tool she is in the hands of the ideal pilot. The ideal pilot would also know how to utilize the pulse ray shield to its maximum ability.

Drawing off original designs only Westworld himself could have come up with, the duo created the Pulse Ray shield. Brent came up with the idea, but Westworld was able to make it a reality with his cunning that only he could contrive. Brent conceived the idea of a shield that could repair itself in a fraction of the time most fighter shields do. Westworld was so intrigued with the idea that he had to make it a reality. Through his hard work, this became a reality. At the cost of 3 seconds of complete vulnerability, the Pulse ray shields are able to repair themselves to 100%. The Pulse ray shield generator is comprised mostly of coper wiring to carry as much current in as short of a time as possible to the generator from the ship's engine. The pull of energy is so great, it literally cuts everything off during those three seconds except the basic life support required to keep its pilot alive. Note that full shields for the Pulse ray shield is not that high. The Pulse ray shield generator may be removed and replaced with something else, however there is no other alteration that may be made to the pulse ray shield without completely ruining it.

In conclusion, the Vaskai is Smith and Westworld's first fighter, and with that, they intended to enter the market with a striking classic. It is modifiable, almost any occasion an ace or squad leader could dream of. If extreme alterations are made, then a separate submission is recommended. All in all, it is a balanced fighter with a lot of tricks.
