- Trapped Grip: Having a hidden switch on the underside of the lightsaber that only Varik is aware of, the lightsaber will send a painful jolt through the hilt if it is activated without the switch being used first.
- Bifurcating Cyclical-Ignition Pulse: With a special Pulse included within the Lightsaber, it is able to be activated and used underwater without shorting out or needing repairs.
- Underwater Use: Thanks to the Ignition Pulse included within the Saber's design, it can be used while submerged in water without worrying about shorting out or damage to the mechanics, like with most sabers.
- Powerful Reflection: Thanks to the Etaan Crystal included in the Saber, the blade is able to not only reflect blaster bolts, but imbue them with more energy, making a reflected bolt much more powerful and dangerous.
- Mistaken Identity: As only Varik is aware of the hilt's hidden switch, neither friend nor foe could use this weapon either to harm or help him; in the case of him being disarmed, subdued, or killed any friends will be unable to take up his weapon.
- Deafening Crack: The Etaan Crystal included, when striking against another lightsaber or solid surface, causes a loud noise and even causes a humming echo, letting anyone in the vicinity know where its user is.
- Cortosis: Like most other Lightsabers, Ice's is susceptible to short-circuiting as a result of the blade striking against Cortosis.
Having used this blade since he was first brought in as an Inquisitorial Initiate, Varik has grown to like the hilt's design, and decided to keep it when creating his own lightsaber, modifying the one he was originally given. Over time, he healed the red, dark-side imbued crystal and it became a bright white colour, making the weapon stand out more obviously among others of its kind. Spending a day focusing and meditating, he began to craft the saber himself using the force after retrieving the materials from caves and mining expeditions.
The weapon is designed to work better with Varik's strengths, being a weapon that causes more danger towards those shooting at him and matching well with his defensive style of sending bolts back at those who sent them. Wishing to remain adaptive and able to use his weapon in any situation, Varik included a Cyclical-Ignition Pulse in the weapon, allowing him to use it even while underwater.
