Survivalist: Having lived most of his life on Felucia and Myrkr, Varian is a walking 'How to Survive Anywhere Guide.' and has developed a very resilient organism and physical capabilities. From this particular trait and experience in his life several others stem off such as the Force powers he can utilize and his skills in leather working, herbalism and hunting.
Limited Force Powers: Varian's set of force powers are directly related to the life he has lead and are quite limited compared to most, if not all, other Force Users. Doesn't mean that they are weak but that he doesn't posses the wide array of powers to use as the rest. E.g his telekinesis skills are meager to non-existent. This is further delved into in the Force Powers section.
Mandalorian Heritage: The Mandalorian blood that runs through him may be a factor along with his Survivalist trait in the development of his natural combat capabilities. Having spent time in the unwelcoming and life threatening environments of both Felucia and Myrkr, Varian has learned to fight with whatever he gets his hand on. Hence, he learns and adapts quickly to using both conventional and unconventional weapons. Yet, weapons that belonged to the ranged combat school require more time of utilization and even then he will lack the same level of skill that he has with weapons of the close-range/melee school.
Hunter: Surviving on hostile planets such as Felucia and Myrkr demands that the survivor develops skills in the art of hunting and tracking. Hence, Varian has acquired a great level in tracking and hunting down a prey. Be it an animal or a man.
Leatherworking: Stemming from the Survivalist trait, Varian has learned a lot about the fauna and their use. More specifically, a survivor tends to always use every single part of a slaughtered animal for his benefit. Thus, the Mandalorian has obtained skills in leatherworking. Crafting items for all sorts of possible use from the remains of various fauna. Armor he has crafted, for example, has been the deciding factor between life and death in many of his encounters.
Herbalism: As the previous specialization, this also stems from the Survivalist trait. Both Felucia and Myrkr are reach of all sorts of flora and Varian has developed the needed skills to examine them correctly and create various items for different uses. Contrary to popular belief, flora is not only used to heal but also to damage. As such, Varian has both the knowledge of using the available flora for healing and for creating deadly poisons that could be coated on weapons or poured into a unsuspecting enemy.
Recklessness: Varian has always demonstrated a certain dose of recklessness, most likely a hereditary trait from his father. Even though the survivalist type of life he has lived had taught him patience, often the Mandalorian demonstrates his reckless nature.
Bad Night Vision: Due to his Hapan heritage, Varian has a really bad sight at night. Dampened by his Human blood but still existent to a degree, it has thrown him in numerous life and death experiences.
Notable Possessions
- Armour: Mandalorian Armor
- Weaponry: Rancor-bone blade [Canon Imbued]; Beskad; Vibrodagger
- Property: N/A
- Miscellaneous: Bestiary - both flora & fauna (Up to date with Felucia and Myrkr).
- Matukai School: Trained by Ikkar He'nqer, the teachings of the Matukai and of the Felucian Shamans are the primary Force Powers that Varian utilizes. The enhancing powers of the Force that the Matukai taught to were learned well by Varian. According to Ikkar, that might be due the Mandalorian Heritage which is generations upon generations that have focused on the physical. Unfortunately, Varian was never trained in using the wan-shen. That was due to the fact that Ikkar believed that due to their situation on Felucia, focusing on the enhancing abilities and the Matukai's martial art was of top priority. The latter less than the former.
- Felucian Shamans: Varian's first teachers and first steps in the Force were thanks to the Jungle Felucians. The beginning of all his teaching started with the Force Weapon technique, the basics of Force Imbue, which the warrior caste of the Jungle Felucians used to make their weapons resistant to lightsabers. Second came the flexible technique known as Force Barrier. Varian highly benefited from learning this technique due to it being quite fitting with the Matukai's School of the Force. Afterwards, the Mandalorian learned what is known as the Animal friendship technique. An unbelievably important technique to known on worlds such as Felucia and Myrkr (less on Myrkr due to Ysalamiri) which are full of predators. Finally, Varian was taught Force Blast. A technique different than the one known by darksiders but still quite deadly and helpful in combat. Parallel with all that he was taught what the Felucian shamans thought of essential - Force healing.
- Sense: An aspect of the Force that has been less trained by Varian compared to the two above. The Mandalorian has focused on learning more of the Sense to better dampen his low night vision. Although he has a Mandalorian helmet, his survivalist trait continuously asks him 'what will do if you lose your helmet?'. Sense allows Varian's senses to work on a higher level than normally they would. Due to his lack of practice, it is best used in a calmer environment rather than, for example, combat.
