Description:
The Variable Speed Laser was designed for use on space faring vessels ranging from starfighter size to capital ships. The laser itself is capable of firing at the same rate of fire and power as modern laser cannons however it may also be dialed back sacrificing power for speed. This allows the weapon to better suit the pilots needs. Faster rate of fire for hard to hit targets or long range.

On starfighters the weapon has two primary speeds; Standard which gives the weapon the same rate of fire as normal laser cannons and rapid which allows for quick pulses. On turret mounts the weapon has a further point defense setting which increases the amount of weapon shots to give anti-missile protection, however at this rating it isn't suitable for anything but destroying small unshielded targets such as incoming missiles.

Normally I'd just make something up... but in this case I'd prefer not to... my reason for saying this is I'd like it to work with whatever picture a person comes up with. Besides that there is a HUGE difference in laser cannon sizes in star wars that seems arbitrary. I mean look at a laser on an X-wing compared to a TIE Fighter? I'd rather not base its dimensions on a TIE Laser and then have some crazy down the road be like "Well because they are smaller I can have moar of them!"

Would putting down “Comparable to Standard Laser Cannons” be an acceptable compromise? Thats what I've been allowed to do in the past.
