DESCRIPTION
Vandemarian Adamant is a distinctive alloy refined from the abundant Adamant Ore found beneath Vandemar, utilizing proprietary techniques developed and maintained exclusively by the Vandemarian Techwrights. While deposits of Adamant Ore are exceedingly uncommon elsewhere in the galaxy, Vandemar possesses both the natural reserves and industrial knowledge necessary to refine it on a meaningful scale. The Hegemony consequently maintains an effective monopoly over true Vandemarian Adamant, and its use remains almost entirely confined to Vandemarian military and strategic applications. Throughout Vandemarian history, the metal has been employed wherever exceptional structural integrity is demanded, most notably in armour, fortifications, weapons, and critical military infrastructure. Its extraordinary hardness, toughness, tensile strength and resistance to kinetic and energy damage make it exceptionally well suited to surviving impacts, sustained weapons fire, and the extreme stresses of warfare.

Its resilience nevertheless comes with significant limitations. Adamant's high density makes structures constructed from it exceptionally heavy, while its poor thermal conductivity causes heat to accumulate rather than dissipate readily, leaving it vulnerable to sudden and extreme temperature changes. Catastrophic fractures are particularly problematic, as damaged Adamant cannot simply be reforged or conventionally repaired to recover its original integrity. The refinement process is likewise complex and resource-intensive, despite Vandemar's considerable reserves, preventing its indiscriminate use across every military application. These limitations ensure that Adamant remains a material deployed with purpose rather than convenience: exceptionally difficult to destroy, but neither invulnerable nor without practical counters.
