ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Automation: Y1 | Y2 integration ensures smooth automation in many of its systems. Pebble drones and maintenance droids are deployed royally throughout the carrier for maintenance and internal defense.
  • Advanced overlapping shield systems.
  • Refit/repair/construction capabilities. The hangar bays have been designed as mobile yards, they are capable of repairing, refitting or even constructing starships on the fly. With an inherent focus on its starfighters, ensuring that even if ships are lost or badly crippled in combat, the Vance-class will always be able to recoup its losses. The construction from the ground-up can take many hours if it's a small craft and up to days, weeks if its any larger than that. While repairs could potentially be done during the field, it would still take hours to repair or refit major damage. None of this is fast enough to have a noticeable effect during the heat of battle.
  • Advanced ECM abilities. Reinforced firewalls and recessed data structures combined with its Y1 | Y2 modules ensure the Vance is very capable to defend itself from cyber-attacks.
Strengths:
  • Automated. Highly autonomous and automated. The Y1 and Y2 droid brains and lattices ensure for rapid information transfer and almost instantaneous reaction capabilities. They increase the efficiency of the mobile yards and ensure that the hangar bays are optimally functioning.
  • Hangar. Very extensive and advanced hangar bays. They are fully capable of retrofitting, restoring or even creating more starships, while allowing the Vance to deploy many starfighter squadrons on its own.
  • Defenses. From heavy shields to reinforced armor and advanced ECM abilities the Vance can take a pounding or two and still come out of it.
Weaknesses:
  • Maneuverability. Once it momentum and direction is set the Vance has a difficult time adjusting otherwise. Many ships of its class can out-maneuver it rather easily.
  • Speed. Once its out of hyperspace it's very slow and has hard time catching up with similar ships of its class, much less smaller ships.
  • Armament. Very low armament and can't do much damage on its own.
Description: The Vance-class Dedicated Carrier is the crown ship of the Didact navy and underlines the values of its space doctrine through its design decisions. Its main focus are the extensive hangar bays that have been designed to be automated to a high degree, being able to repair and retrofit ships on the fly, while also being able to construct new ones in a competitive amount of time. Because of this there was a clear choice made to focus on its defenses over its independent armament, making it a very tough nut to crack, but not very capable when it comes to dishing out damage on its own.

All this tech, reinforcement also made it so that the Vance is relatively slow compared to ships its own class or smaller. Once it drops out of hyperspace it won't be able to maneuver well or chase anything down on its own and without assistance.

In essence the Vance-class Carrier is made to act as a mobile base of operations during high-grade, extensive campaigns or mercenary contracts for Didact. They drop in, hunker down and supply support in terms of starfighters and the sort.

[member="Itash Mecetti"] Just a tiny nitpick for you, Tash, but could you state specifically what ships this carrier can make? Like you dont have to name the ships specifically, just whether it's starfighters or bombers or what?

Also, how fast can it build these? I don't expect to see an endless stream of fighters pouring from the hangar in the middle of a battle. I know you better than that :p

Just those few things and I think this is good to go.

Squadrons: 18 (Usually they are a balanced mixture of Alyx-class Elite Starfighters, Jindo-class Elite Bombers and Keeno-class Interceptors. This might vary, but the squadrons always remain in that order of scale)
Decided to add the specific crafts into the field, but left some leeway for variety within reason.

Added that to the advanced systems for clarification, because yeah, this isn't really intended to spam out fighters in the heat of battle. More a prolonged campaign, so the carrier can act as active support and buff zone.

Let me know if you need any more things clarified.
