Description:

Almost a century old, this set of armor was forged by the finest smiths available in the city of Tháinbroek, capital of planet Midvinter and seat of the High King and the royal family. It was commissioned by Thurion's grandfather, who once ruled Midvinter and the Valkyri people with a firm yet fair hand and successfully keept the peace between the many chieftains, and was given to his son Thrand upon reaching his manhood by slaying a Hrothwûrm all on his own. He wore it with pride since that day, and it would serve as a symbol to his people that he was worthy of following in his father's footsteps and become the next High King. Sadly, that wasn't the case when after his father died Thrand was betrayed and exiled by Beorlund - one of his father's closest advisors and one of the wealthiest men on Midvinter.

He kept his armor as he left his home and found a planet called Pelagon to settle on, where he fell in love and got married to a human woman. There he fathered two sons, but his beloved wife died while giving birth to the second babe, and in his devastated state of mind he abandoned the two boys to fend for themselves. With nowhere else to turn, he returned to his homeplanet in secret and settled in the vast wilderness, living by himself and minding his own buisness while wallowing in his sorrows and failures. It wasn't until a grown up Thurion Heavenshield crashlanded on Midvinter and was found by him that he was granted some small form of peace, knowing his youngest had survived and turned into such a fine young man. Promising to come back to see him whenever possible, Thrand offered this set of armor to his son, thinking it would serve him better than it would him in these troubled times.

The armor itself is made of Valkyri steel, which is their name for durasteel, and armorweave for the hereditary tabard displaying the house to which the armor belongs to. The plates (arms, legs, torso, shoulders) are of durasteel, with openings in the joints large enough to offer just enough maneuverability to be used in battle. While such an armor would be expected by a Valkyr to be used effortlessly, a human - or a hybrid of the two as in Thurion's case - would find the weight sometimes working against you. Fatigue would settle in quickly unless one possesses great stamina and physical strength. Since it is made by a simple people with less-than-average technology available to them than the majority of the galaxy, there are no special properties given to this century-old ceremonial armor. As the name says, it is not meant for war, but could indeed be used for such should one require it to.
