ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Strengths:
  • Hardy: The Vakvita is outfitted with surprisingly powerful defences, considering its small size and relatively cheap production cost.
  • Defence Grid: When acting as part of a grid, Vakvita units gain the advantage of superior targeting and more advances tactics as a result of coordination between their respective droid brains, which is especially useful against enemy starfighters. The Vakvitas' Missile Targeting Scramblers are based on the number of units, meaning that a large number of them could protect entire stations, while a lone unit would barely be able to protect itself from crude missiles.
  • Enduring: With its solar panels and robust design, the Vakvita can defend a location for a very, very long time before needing replacement or even maintenance.
  • Dirt Cheap: While nothing to scoff at when it comes to armaments and defences, its otherwise frugal design allows it to be fielded in far greater numbers than conventional starfighters.
Weaknesses:
  • Defensive: It's in the name, folks. With its lack of mobility and short-range weapons, the Vakvita is really only suited to defend a location in space, unless you plan to dump them right on top of your enemy in a pitched battle.
  • Grid Dependence: The Vakvita is built and programmed to act as part of a larger grid. When the grid is compromised (whether through separation, destruction of enough units, or jamming), remaining units lose the advantage of the "Tactician Battle Computer" and become much less of a threat overall.
  • Stationary: Vaktiva units move solely through manoeuvring thrusters, leading to incredibly sluggish movement incapable of dodging much more than an approaching meteor.
Description:
The Galaxy is a dangerous place. Wars plague the stars and outlaws stand ready to slither forth from their cesspools whenever the forces of law and order lower their guard.

How then, is one to protect oneself and one's assets? Vandiir Consolidated Holdings' answer to this question is the Vakvita, named after the Sith word for "Bulwark". These small droid satellites are unimpressive on their own, but in groups? In groups, they can tear a pirate flotilla to shreds, or serve as the first line of defence against an enemy force. After all, while best known for their toughness, the concentrated firepower of droves of these is nothing to scoff at.

While the majority of any given satellite is likely to have been both designed and manufactured by VCH, there is one important exception: The droid brain. Due to its lack of experience in droid-building, the Company looked to others for a source of cheap yet highly effective droid brains, eventually reaching an agreement with Didact Defence Solutions regarding the use of their Y1 Droid Brains.

In addition to the externally sourced droid brains, the method of power generation is also a first for a VCH product. Designed to utilise solar power for all non-combat functions, the Vakvita has the distinct advantage of being able to operate for extremely long time periods due to the robust design and renewable power, though occasional maintenance is still recommended to avoid malfunctions.

As a result of this, coupled with its modest cost of production, impressive defences, and optimisation for large-scale deployment, a large number of these satellites have been commisioned at noticeably below market value by the Sith Empire. While Vandiir Consolidated Holdings still turns a profit from this agreement, their primary motivation is the opportunity to get a foot in the door in the hopes of attaining future commissions.

Done. Was unsure because the military space station template defined its average lengths as "600-4000 metres". Bumped two ratings (only one of which really changes anything), but kept it two under the Excel balancing guide to make up for the new "Dirt Cheap" strength. (Price isn't a real strength or weakness, they said. I dare say I disagree.)
