OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Ceraglass smart display - acts as a computer interface visor by displaying holodata on the inside of the lens, either recalling it from internal storage or reading it from the environment using a small photoreceptor built into the frame. The display is formed from two thin sheets of ceraglass encasing a thin transparent holodisplay. Only the wearer can view the projected information, and the lens appears otherwise empty to other parties. A combination of eye movements and manual inputs on the side of the spectacles is used to manipulate the displayed information.
  • Micro droid brain - a small processing unit built into the frame allows for rapid calculations of data. For example, the wearer can view a document or display for a few seconds to analyse the viewable information, then request calculations be conducted on the captured data.

STRENGTHS
  • Second brain - the in-built processing unit can quickly compute large amounts of complex mathematical data and provide insights and analysis, giving the wearer the ability to interpret information and make decisions much quicker than most sentients.
  • Stylish - the spectacles are produced in the latest galactic fashions.

WEAKNESSES
  • Power hungry - there is limited room in the spectacle frame for the internal battery to fit alongside the image capture sensors and microprocessors. Large amounts of data capture and complex calculations can quickly drain the small battery, requiring the spectacles to be removed and recharged.
  • Fragile - the plastene frame is constructed for style over utility and can be broken if stood or sat on.
  • Square eyes - the unnatural jerking eye movements to control the display and the accompanying stream of data causes long term ocular damage. Wearers often become short or long-sighted and struggle to focus on objects when not wearing the spectacles.

DESCRIPTION
During his career, Tithe has used various styles of data goggles to interpret financial data and make predictions rapidly. With millions of credits on the line, every nano-second counted when selling stocks or negotiating contracts. Despite scouring the galaxy for the perfect solution, he was never satisfied. The increasing demands of his rise through the Sith-Imperial Banking Clan forced Tithe to take matters into his own hands.

His design brief to the esteemed engineers at Gildenlead Inc had three requirements:
  • Fast computing power - he needed complex financial data to be calculated, modelled and reported on faster than his rivals.
  • The ability to read data from the surrounding environment - a criticism of current data goggle technology was that data must be pre-loaded or computer fed. Tithe wanted the ability to look at a rival’s data or documents during negotiations and immediately understand it better than they did.
  • Must fit his unique style.

Since taking delivery of the spectacles - aptly named ‘Visions of Gold’ or ‘Vaizdas iv Auksas’ in ur-Kittât - Tithe has hardly removed them. Their ability to quickly calculate and assess his own data and that of others have already paid dividends against the high cost of commissioning the bespoke spectacles.
