OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To further codify the history of the Komodi race by defining their major spiritual leaders, the Eldars, in concrete bios.
  • Image Credit: Tiefling Concept Art for Vox Machina
  • Role: One of the final five Komodi Eldars that survived the desolation of Komodan, now deceased.
  • Links: Komodi | Komodan
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: 237 at time of death.
  • Force Sensitivity: NFU
  • Species: Komodi
  • Appearance: So far as Komodi go Uurij was of common build, size, color, and overall appearance. There was really nothing special about the way he looked to set him apart from his komo-kin. Plain as they come, his olive-grey skin tone lacked any distinguishing patterns or markings with the hair on his head only a faint shade lighter. Pale, faded golden eyes were often described as being somewhat listless in his youth and denoted a late-to-bloom mental capacity that no one expected. In his prime he was fit, strong, stout and proudly wore the scars of his battles and markings of his caravan. Though he would never grow to be a beacon of intrigue, so far as appearances go, it helped him on the battlefield where he was often underestimated by his enemies when compared to his far more colored and decorated brethren.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Uurij Vako, "Eldar Vako"
  • Loyalties: Once the keeper of the Komodi Vako Caravan, his loyalties were to his clan and his people.
  • Wealth: The Vako Clan had managed to carve a nice little existence into the planet known as Maena where they worked in various forms as miners, smiths, hired muscle, mercenaries, escorts, and more. Their wealth was substantial in comparison to many other Komodi caravans that typically only relied on trade and the art of thievery to get by. As caravans existed in the vein of large families, their wealth was pooled between them and governed by their leader, Uurij. By extension, Uurij was quite wealthy.
  • Notable Possessions: The Vako Tome - Book of the Eldar
  • Skills: Uurij himself was a highly skilled and experience miner. He lead the team from his caravan in the mines that produced Obsidian Nova Crystals. While he did not own the mines, he was contracted by the local government to oversee one of the production from one of the main veins. Before coming to Maena, Uurij proved himself to be a capable leader and maintained the knowledge of ancient Komodan warrior craft and weapons. He was a skilled fighter in his prime.
  • Personality: Blunt and often described as abrasive, befriending Uurij took time, persistence, and a somewhat acquired taste if you were anything but another Komodi. He kept a firm disliking for humans, remnants of ancient Komodan history that he rarely spoke of after the passing of his Scribe and only offspring; Najiir. Unlike most Komodi, Uurij took only one mate and no other after her own death but welcomed into his caravan the likes of any Komodi in need. His was of a deep compassion for his own people and a desire to uplift them from the dirt the galaxy had ascribed to them. As an Eldar he conducted himself with a great deal of dignity and took his role of keeping the ancient knowledge very, very seriously. It was with luck that he managed to complete his Tome before his own death.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: In life a longsword, daggers, warhammer. He was never a fan of guns or blasters.
  • Combat Function: Uurij was often found at the forefront of battle, relishing in the dance between opposing factions. He struck with purpose and force and was known for wasting little energy on fanfaire. Every hit was made to count and his body count was impressive. As he aged he was forced to withdraw from the vanguard and over time made to take the back seat as a battle coordinator and tactician.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
No one had ever suspected that Uurij would one day become Eldar. In his youth he was the third of five siblings, often overlooked for both his dull demeanor and appearance. Nicknamed "Vako," the Komodan word for stone, he took these things to heart and spent much of his younger years closed off from others. Many believed him to be stunted of mind, even for a Komodi, but this was not so. Uurij harbored a cunning and intellect that far surpassed the average Komodi - something that was not given an outlet to blossom until he joined his warrior kin. There he soaked up the training and knowledge of smithing, weapons craft, battle, combat, and everything in between. Though physically he was nothing special, mentally he shone bright and found that others flocked to him like a beacon and soon his nickname came to mean something else: Vako the unyeilding and unflinching.

Despite a rather strange sense of humor, Uurij's wit made him appealing to then reigning Eldar Ravegar Utek. Uurij was selected as Utek's Scribe and Apprentice and in more recent Komodan history was one of the youngest and most unexpected Eldar successors at the ripe young age of 73. He served Utek in his vagrant fleet caravan faithfully for many years, learning the history of their people and the knowledge many thought to be lost. When Utek's health began to fail he named Uurij Eldar and charged him with flying the stars to gather the many Komodi that were scattered among them.

He did as bid for many, many years and as his clan grew in size he began to understand that he would not be able to provide for them on a traders and thief's means alone. Eldar Vako settled upon the planet Maena shortly after Ravegar Utek's death and the last great commune. Though Uurij would not see his mentor again before his death, he took the other Eldar's words to heart and did his very best to provide a means of belonging and comfort to his people. Uurij educated them in new skills and learned to utilize each clan member to their greatest assets. Instead of simply plundering others they would provide. His clan grew to become one of the richest and most infamous in current Komodi history. It was on Maena that he took his first and only mate; another plain grey-skinned Komodi named Fevira and raised his only offspring Najiir.

Fevira died not long after the birth of their child due to complications, leaving Uurij to raise and teach Najiir on his own. Najiir quickly proved to have inherited her father's mind and was selected early on as his Apprentice. No amount of credits were spared to get Najiir the education she needed to fulfill the role and the young Komodi learned to read and write in several languages from an early age. In her 32 year she completed the Eldar's tome. In her 33 year she was murdered. Uujir never did learn who the culprit was, though he obsessed over her death for many years. His health deteriorated and he eventually succumbed to a chronic and aggressive case of Scale Rot. He left behind no other Eldar successors, though Clan Vako remains in place to this day, lead by his closest friend and confidant Marael.
