Unwelcome Family Reunion

Ceto, Honu Island Residential District - 1100 Local Time | [member="Thessa Kai"] | [member="Neriah Dashiell"] | [member="Ezekiel Dashiell"] | [member="Isaiah Dashiell"] |

Tropical breezes ran through the modest beach home, bringing in the noise of the ocean and the smell of salty air. Mid-morning sunshine streamed in through the windows, bathing the room in bright light. Judah sat at a large desk, two datapads open with multiple figures. Frown graced his features as he looked at some of the data, crunching a few numbers on a piece of flimsy. Salacia Consolidated was doing surprisingly well, even though Judah had stepped back slightly to spend more time with his family. Several items were in research and development, ready to hit the market in coming weeks. The auction was coming together, albeit delayed. Judah had no issues with slow but steady growth. Many of his competitors were sky rocketing to the top yet it wasn't his style.

The chime of the doorbell echoed through the home, breaking Judah away from his thoughts.

"Thess? Hey Thess? Could you get that?" There was a long stretch of silence followed by another chime of the doorbell "Darlin?"

Faint giggling could be heard and Judah closed his datapads, looking out the open window. Thessa was in the pool, playing with a giggling Makai. Judah should have knew the two would have been somewhere in the water. Stretching tired muscles, Judah cursed himself for sitting for so long. He really should have called it quits after breakfast and went out back with the rest of his family.

Padding down the stairs barefoot, Judah reached the door. He hoped it wasn't anyone important. Dressed in a faded, well-worn blue shirt and long boardshorts, Judah looked every bit a washed up beach bum. Certainly his look was a far cry from the farm boy he was just a scant while ago. Running a hand through shaggy curls, Judah opened the door to a very....interesting....group. Blue eyes took in the appearance of those at his doorstep.

"Public beach access is two kilometers down, out of the Honu District."

A man would be standing at the fore, rather bedraggled wearing a navy blue trenchcoat that would fall short of the tops of his dusty nerfhide boots. He would swivel on the balls of his feet, clicking his heels in presentation, a roguish grin on his face, and strands of loose hair falling from the queue at his neck.

"Ahh! Wait a moment!" he would lean in to get a closer look at [member="Judah Dashiell"], one silvery blue eyes appraising the man beyond the matching shag of hair. "AHH yes!" his eyes would widen as finding what he so desired, and before Judah could react, his arms would spread wide in a fantastically flamboyant manner to wrap round the farmboy with notable overeager affection.

"JUDY!!!" he would cry out in exclamation, smelling obnoxiously a heady cocktail of whiskey, perfume, and sweat.

"Look at you! All grown up now!" He would remark with a strong clap to his shoulder and the devil in his eyes, as a glance was shot back to [member="Isaiah Dashiell"] and [member="Neriah Dashiell"].

"Ain't he a good looking lad? I told you he'd be the spitting image of uncle!"

Neri waited patiently at the door as she took in the scenery of the Honu Island Residential District. It obviously wasn't as beautiful as the beach district, but it was still beautiful, filled with palm trees on the side of the roads and the scent of the sea in the air. Neri did have her doubts about what their farmboy cousin would do after she heard he'd quit the Republic Navy, but she had to admit, he'd forged quite the living for himself. Soon enough he opened the door, seemingly not recognizing them, telling them that the beach was that-a-way.

Before Neri could interject Zeke was literally all over the man. Try as she might she wasn't able to stop his consumption of whiskey on the way over, nor his womanizing habits on the shuttle ride over. Poor Judah was likely wafting in all of that aroma now as Zeke told the rest of them he'd look just like his uncle.

"Ehhhh." He somewhat shrugged. "He doesn't have the same farm-boyish look he used to that his dad carried around. Kid's grown up in more ways than one." She said with a smile. "Now where is that beautiful wife I've been hearing so much about? Aren't trying to hide her away from family are ya?"

Glare.

A yip from the monkey lizard sitting his brother's trenchcoat pocket, crying out in protest as the youngest of the three siblings continued to glare at the disgusting thing. He didn't understand why his brother cared for the thing so much. Its laugh was annoying, it smelled worse than a Hutt and it had those creepy, beady little eyes. A salty breeze blew over the trio, ruffling the scruffy mop of hair that sat atop Isaiah's head, a strand of the black hair falling right between his eyes. With a huff he blew the strand away as the door creaked open.

He didn't recognize them? As his older brother embraced their cousin, Izzy took a few steps forward, squeezing past Zeke and Judy. "Nice pad you've got here Judy." he said with a mischievous smirk. "Good you left that rotten Republic Navy anyways," he started, picking up a red, apple-like fruit and taking a bite, the juice running down his chin. Frowning at the taste he put the fruit back in place, "Bunch of corrupt money guzzling fools that lot." The irony wasn't lost on the young man, but it didn't make his statement not true. Shoving his hands in his own leather jacket, he plopped into a plush couch. "Ooooooh! Zeke! Neri! You've got to sit in these seats! Haven't sat in something this soft in ages...Ahhh..."

Relaxing in the seat, he sunk deep into the couch, his arms outstretched along the length of the back, the leather squeaking loudly in protest. His eyes shut closed with a wide grin plastered to his face.

She blew some water rasberries at her son one last time before several voices that did not match Judah's reached her ears from inside the house. Cocking her head to one side, she frowned and listened. They didn't sound hostile. Still. She usually knew when Judah was going to have a business meeting. And, unfortunately, it didn't sound like another surprise from the girls.

The emergency blaster was still within reach.

"Let's go see what guests Daddy has over," she shifted Makai in her arms and stepped out of the pool, water glistening down her scale-speckled and less-clothed than normal skin. Feet padded along the deck. Hip cocked to the side and balanced her son against her torso as she opened the back door.

Driftwood brows lofted at the scene. "Judah...," she called, iced-azure gaze searching for her husband among the house full of strangers. "I didn't know we were having guests."

The emergency blaster was still within reach.

Makai giggled.

"You smell like a Gamorrean stripper. The name is also Judah."

Not that Judah had been around Gamorrean strippers ever. It just seemed like a perfect combination that was wafting off the man. Gently pushing the 'cousin' back, he mentally groaned. The other was already making himself home on the couch, half-eating imported Galan fruit. Judah struggled to place all of his relatives. It had been more than a decade since he last saw any of the extended family. He supposed these were Uncle Patrick's children, if the conversation was correct.

Oddly, they seemed to know a little too much about his life. Being who his family was there was often a picture or a article in the planetary magazine, showcasing style or popular residents or some nonsense. As far as Judah knew the magazine wasn't distributed outside Ceto. Saleucami was a hell of a long way from Ceto.

"Uh...Yes....Yes. I'm married." Probably not for much longer.

Naturally, it was as this time Thessa choose to make her appearance. Clad in her skimpy swimwear, Judah's thoughts drifted elsewhere. If the extended family relations weren't around he would have certainly put action to the images dancing in his head. Smiling at his Sea Goddess come-to-life and son, Judah moved closer to the pair. He didn't fail see the blaster. With all the trouble the family had within the last year or more it was well needed.

"I didn't know we were having guests either Darlin'" Voice strained a little, raising his eyebrows at Thessa to try to convey his innocence. Taking the giggling little boy, Judah chuckled and blew a raspberry against the boy's neck, where the gills were disappearing. "Hey you little water devil" More giggles before Judah firmly placed himself in front of Thessa. The salvager didn't trust the lecherous one that smelt like a strippers sweaty thong.

"As you can see, you presence was unexpected. Why exactly are you here again?"
