The operating table was a mess.

Darth Sorn was in his Laboratory analyzing the specimen: A Tukata one of the many beasts of Korriban. Sorn managed to get plenty of the Tukata before the damn Alliance swooped in and ousted the Sith Empire. It was through then that the Empire began to fracture with a group leaving to form the Brotherhood of the Maw. Sorn was one of them, he was outraged at the fact that the Sith Empire couldn't defend the birthplace of the Dark Side. They were crumbling under the pressure of the New Imperial Orders and now blasted Jedi joined the pummeling. It was time for a new order a new place where the Sith could rise again and be better than the Empire. Under the guise of the Maw, Sorn could now conduct his experiments in peace without the backstabbers of the Empire though one must be cautious with the religious fanatics under control of the Sith as well. Still Sorns research could benefit the Maw in their rise to power. His discovery could make people see the true power of the Dark Side.

He cut an incision into the Turkata's hide trying to analyze its insides. Sorn probably studied around 100 of these things but with each monster he experimented he came closer to the answer that he craved. On the surface, the Turkata are nothing to write home about but on the inside they were a manifestation of pure dark side energy. Thousands of years ago, Lord Renning made this discovery but was killed before he was able to expand on it. Sorn listened to his Holocron and built on his work getting closer to true transcendence than Renning ever did. "I'm so close," Sorn muttered. "Just a little more."

In moved the Twi'lek. She mused silently to herself at the lab Sorn had. She even smiled slightly as she meandered through. What fun they would have. What discoveries they would make. She almost giggled with anticipation.

She walked up beside Darth Sorn Darth Sorn . Looking down at the entrails and remnants he was working on, she slid a hand over the Tukata's hide.

What have you found so far?

"Something is missing," Sorn continued to cut into the Trakata's flesh trying gather more of his intestines. "I know that these beasts are pure dark side energy but I cannot gather enough evidence to present my findings to the council!" The Sith Scientist's anger started to take form ready to burst like a nuclear blast. Yet Sorn managed to channel that rage into force energy with dark tendrils forming on his fingertips. He learned a long time ago to harness the rage within him and turn it into power. Peace is a lie there is only passion and Sorn's passion is for science and discovery. He sent the tendrils deep inside the Tarkata's innards searching for its liver. Mean while the brain scan for his perfect specimen was almost done.

"Channel your rage," Sorn muttered. "The Dark Side makes you powerful." It manifested inside of him, Sorn was close to this breakthrough. Just then a familiar voice whispered into his ear. The sweet and soothing voice which caused Sorn's entire body to relax, it was her: Maestus. What was she doing here in his laboratory?

"Maestus," Sorn turned to the red skinned woman. She was dressed in an alluring dress and her green eyes gazed upon him with a glint of innocence. As a Sith, one must never show weakness for they will use it as leverage against them. She was the forbidden fruit something that Sorn swore not to take but did it anyway. She was his greatest strength but also greatest weakness as well.

"It is cold because I need to preserve these animals," he answered placing his knife while going over to wash his hands.

As she saw him, she noticed the relaxation that came over him when she spoke. She allowed herself a small smile at his reaction. Perhaps one day, she would let her walls down. Was Sorn the person to let in? Time would tell.

She turned her attention back to the Tukata on the table. With an analytical gaze, she studied the entrails, sparing a glance to Sorn.

What if you examined a live one? I've long believed that the power one has, be it the light or dark, is tied to a beings.....soul, for lack of a better word. Their life force. Once that is extinguished, that power is gone. Perhaps it rejoins the Force, I haven't figured that part out yet.

She turned to fully regard him at this point. Arms folded gracefully in front of her. One Lekku laid over her shoulder, writhing gently.

As she watched him, she pondered the future. They had very similar dreams and ambitions, so very true. And she had much yet to learn. Then again, the pursuit of knowledge was ever ongoing. There is always something new, something different to learn.

Dare she imagine a future with Sorn? She shook her head absently, banishing the tought, if only for a moment. The feelings he stirred in her were foreign, alien. She had never allowed herself to care for anyone. Not even her dead Master. She could feel Sorn begin to reach for the bricks in her walls. Could he tear it down?

Time would tell.

"The problem with that," Sorn said continuing to wash his hands. "Is that these creatures are located only on Korriban which is currently under the control of the Ashlan Crusade."

The Crusade were more cult like than the Brotherhood that was even possible. They fight for the light Ashla, a pathetic life to live being bound to a God. At least the Jedi don't adhere to that kind of dogma. Such worship leaves their minds vulnerable for control, they are strong minded but with the control over the midichlorians that hide behind the neurons of the Brain and using the synapses as a way to travel they could easily be deceived.

"Souls are deeply imbued to the Force," Sorn said turning to Maestus observing her alluring figure. "I've discovered that when a living being dies, the Midichlorians are the last to die off. Their communication is different somehow, I haven't deciphered what they're saying as of yet but I'm close to a breaththrough."

Maestus was a surprisingly astute student, she absorbed the knowledge that Sorn gave her and was willing to come up with ideas of her own. The relationship was working well..... maybe too well but so far Sorn was impressed with her.

She listened intently as he spoke. Already was her mind flitting to a trip to Korriban and the preparations for such a trip.

Korriban may be under the Ashlan's control, that is true. But I highly doubt they will notice if we take a Tukata or two. The opportunity to study a live beast so strong in the dark side of the Force....Can't be denied if we are to make serious advancements. Imagine what we can study and learn from the opportunity.

She sauntered towards him, reaching for his now cleaned hands, taking them in her own. She was thinking about the scientific advancements they could make. The research into midichlorians on a live creature, strong in the Force. If they could isolate the communication factora in a live beast, they would be much closer to controlling them in humans.

Sorn stared at the dead Trakuta taking account of the few midichlorians left in its body. Sorn had maintained as many midichlorians as he can after killing the creature. One thing about midichlorians that intrigued was as soon as a living thing dies, they start to communicate with each other even as the organs start to slowly shut down. By the time the body enters rigor mortis stage, the midichlorians start to fade one by one though they still keep in talking. What they were communicating about is a mystery, something Sorn was trying to comprehend. He managed to dicipher at least some of the language of the midichlorians but only while the host is still active.

"If I could decipher what they are saying," Sorn said. "Perhaps I can revive the midichlorians within the body. The host will likely be different but maybe from the old decaying corpse, I can create a new, more powerful host. One that remain within the body instead returning to the Force."

He began to pace around Maestus. "My hypothesis," Sorn said sighing. "Is that these midchlorians are prepping to return to the Force. They are after all not only the communicators between a person and the Force but also act as its inhibitors. One is only gifted with so much midichlorians to the point where they become what's classified as Force Sensitve."

He shook his head. "But enough theories," he said. "Let us head to Korriban, I'm sure we'll find answers there."
