The lamentable result of a science experiment gone wrong, Unak'atha Drak'thaluna's personae represents the incarnation of terror. Little is known of Una's past, especially to Una, however scientific evidence points to a human genealogy of core-world descent. What little memories she possesses of her human life are dark and full of horror. Her most potent memories consist of genetic experimentation's conducted by a scientist of as-yet unknown origins. Chosen for her unique psychic abilities, Una was kept in a top-secret military installation on Geonosis deep underground. Her genes were spliced with those of native Geonosians in an effort to eradicate and control the local Geonosian insectoid population through the creation of a 'Hive Overmind.' The scientist had hoped that the ability to connect Una's mind with those of an entire hive cluster would prove useful in controlling the Geonosians, breeding an entire planet of slave-labor and powerful industry.
The experiment was a resounding success. So successful, in fact, that Una utilized her new-found abilities to call for an all-out assault on the secret installation resulting in the death and dismemberment of her captors and her untimely release. With most of her humanoid appearance now gone, Una retreated into the dark catacombs of Geonosis and continued the scientists experiments on herself, biding here time in an effort to regain a sense of humanity once more. In her isolation however, her mind consumed her and she quickly found herself growing more and more accustomed to her surroundings, adopting the Geonosian hive as her 'children.'
Note: Una Luna is loosely based on several characters and ideas merged into one, most prominently Sarah Kerrigan of Starcraft with the Geonosians under her overmind being much like the Zerg. Other characters include Alice, from Resident Evil, The Alien Queen of Alien Versus Predator, and The Borg Queen of Star Trek.
