Un-Ape-Ceptable! [Sio]

"Well I like the sound of her" Jyn calmly asserted, of the Goddess; it was certainly a concept she could agree with, there was too much focus on Sapient life when it came to people's views on the Force - how it should be used, or studied... To Jyn it was a much simpler thing, it existed and flowed through all life, all things, it was integral. And people had no right to assume they could school or police it to any accurate degree. She especially despised it when people tried to limit the concept to powers and the like. It simply existed. Which made even the smallest creature as important as they were.

Her gaze retracted back to Fuz for a moment, a soft smile gracing her lips. While she wanted to fall into a philosophical debate concerning Force Sects, the additional company still had her on edge even with Siobhan's encouragement. "Whenever philosophy is pinned down, it becomes virtually meaningless" she murmured quietly instead, after all how could anyone truly quantify their beliefs in verbal or written form? Then she turned her gaze to Tegaea, slightly averting it still yet indicating the change in her focus. "The..." she was about to say food, warmth, shelter... But instead she simply settled on "company, My Lady." Hopefully that would suffice.

By this point she had settled down her fork, and now her hands rested within her lap. It felt like she was sat at the Inquisitor's table once again, only there was no Tirdarius here to speak on her behalf this time.

Jyn seemed to be more on edge now that someone unknown to her had entered the scene. Siobhan hoped to change that. Even at the risk of entering a philosophical debate! Which this writer thinks would be awesome, as much as it might confuse Siobhan. Well, maybe partially because of that.

Siobhan glanced over to her wife. "Jyn and I met on the Skyport. She'll be staying over for the night." By now, given how long they had been dating and then married, Tegaea would probably pick up on the small hints in her tone that Siobhan was a bit unhappy about it being just for a night. "Jyn, sweetie, don't be afraid to speak your mind. No one's gonna bite your hard off for having an opinion on things. Otherwise I wouldn't have invited you here. I'm not one for static codes that claim to govern your whole life. Hence why I ditched the Jedi."

"Yes, by all means. Do not be frightened, dear." She gave her most reassuring smile...hoping it indeed was reassuring enough!

There were times when fancy telepathy would be useful for Tegaea. But it seemed like she was the only one in their circle who was in the 99%!

Jyn did her best to gauge Tegaea's reaction to being informed that this wayward child would be spending the evening at her home. When no considerable emotion was shown, however, Jyn deduced that this was not the first, nor likely last, time that Siobhan had rendered similar aid.

Beginning to settle down she once again picked up her fork and began to eat, her stomach still rumbling although she knew she would not be able to eat much more. She had been on a strict rationed diet, the likelihood was that her stomach had shrunk some. But like a stray she also knew that this might be her last chance at a good meal for a long time and so the squirrel instinct came into play. Perhaps she could slip some of the food into her satchel? Who knew.

"How did you meet?" she finally asked, wanting to break the ice a little to remove some of the tension she was feeling. Fuz who had by now eaten his fill came scampering back to the satchel, a fist full of food in his grasp. Clearly the monkey had the exact same thoughts as she did, and he proceeded to climb back into the safe spot he had grown to love with his tiny haul.

Telepathic conversations would have been nice indeed. Siobhan did a lot of that with Mirien. Particularly during boring business meetings. Telepathic phone sex cheered her up! Ahem, on with the plot before this post gets smutty.

"You can put some of the food into your satchel. We can save it, and heat it in the microwave for you tomorrow," Siobhan said, as if reading Jyn's mind. Well, she could not do that. She gave the little monkey a small smile as he scampered back over to his safe spot. "As for how we meet, it was back when I was a Jedi. My master and I were on vacation. Things went...bad when we were captured by energy vampires. Tegs rescued me and helped me save my master," she said, giving Tegaea a fond look and planting a kiss on her cheek. Sio's first words upon meeting her may or may not have been 'are you an amazon?'. Of course, this account was strongly censored. No need for Jyn to know that Siobhan had been raped and gotten her artificial eye drilled out. Or the awful things that had happened to Adril.

Tegaea smiled and gave her wife a kiss back.
“The good old days, huh, when things were simpler,” she said. It had been a long time ago, before the Pyre, before any of the craziness. Back when she’d been a young soldier trying to get away from her childhood.

“Of course, it was a little while before we met again, but that’s a tale for another time,” she said.

Glancing between both women once permission was given to horde some of the food, Jyn very carefully began to place some of the meat and vegetables into her satchel - making sure nothing too messy went in. After all, she only had the one satchel! Her cheeks began to glisten bright crimson as she did so, however, humiliated and embarrassed by the entire situation, and for a time she refused to look over at them. Though she enjoyed the story of how they met all the same.

"What are energy vampires?" she inquired, trying to mask over her humility. There was still much of the Galaxy Jyn had yet to learn about, as would be expected. Not even some of the greatest minds knew everything, that was just the way life was. It seemed as though she was simply full of questions today, but it had been a while since she had been around someone capable and willing to answer her. Only Tirdarius had ever really made such time for her in the past.

For her part Siobhan would not consider that one of the 'good old days', given what had happened to her and shot Tegaea a look. She was probably being oversensitive, but a more sensitive comment would have been nice. Then again, the marriage was less shiny and happy than the facade might indicate. There were cracks in it.

But she turned her attention back to Jyn, smiling slightly at her because the girl was just super adorable. "Near-human creatures that drain others of their life force by biting them. They can also turn their victims into mindless thralls enslaved by them. They look human, but have fangs and retractable claws, enhanced strength and a far longer life span. I've yet to meet one that wasn't a total monster." Clearly she would not like vampires that sparkled.

“It’s the eating people and draining their life force, there’s not many philanthropic people who do that,” Tegaea said in agreement.
She’d not noticed Siobhan’s discontent. Tegaea probably had a more rose tinted view of the past, back when she was a real political player as Lady Protector.

“So…where are you originally from, Jyn?” she asked after a moment.

Jyn sensed the unease and discomfort as it briefly flashed through Siobhan, and quietly frowned. Being that she was naturally an Empath, as big a curse as any could ever have to shoulder, it was impossible for her not to notice it. She said nothing, of course, it was none of her business, yet she felt saddened by this revelation all the same. The smile that she received was genuine, however, which made Jyn feel a little better about being there amidst it all.

"I thought things like that were just stories made up to scare us..." She could recall one of the nanny's she grew up with trying to use monsters as an excuse to have she and Jiaa behave themselves. Just another reason for her to always remember that she knew very little with regards to the Galaxy. "I'm from Dromund Kaas" she said to Tegaea, although she flinched ever so slightly when she said it. Best if she let the past lie where it was.

Leaving aside the fact that Tegaea's chronology was off because they weren't talking about her time as OP's ruler, there was very little to get nostalgic about regarding her time as Lady Protector because her reign had been extremely short. Never mind the fact that most of it had been spent trying to keep a weak OP from collapsing.

Siobhan, for her part, had not been happy then. And did not count being tormented by vampires as being one of the 'good old days when things were simple'. Tegaea did not seem to notice her discomfort, but Siobhan had withdrawn her hand from her and seemed to be focusing her attention on Jyn. The smile on her face when addressing the girl was genuine. She saw how the girl flinched when she spoke of her homeworld and felt a stab of sadness. Dromund Kaas, the Sith capital world. Well, not so long ago Larraq had asteroid-bombarded it into the Ice Age.

Of course, due to Mirien's memories, Siobhan would know this was where Jyn came from, but obviously she could not show that! "A horrible place for a child to grow up. Or anyone really," she said feelingly. "The rim planet I grew up on was occupied by the Sith when I was very young, so I can sympathise. I later landed on Nar Shaddaa. Terrible planet," she spoke softly. "I can only imagine how bad things were for you. You don't have to speak about it if you don't want to, but I'm glad you're not there anymore."

Tegaea, having been something of an insensitive jerk for most of this conversation, seemed to finally realise it.

“Yes…I’m sorry,” she said, looking at Jyn, but also speaking to Siobhan.

She didn’t know what else to say at this moment until something else came to her.

“So…who’s your little friend?” she asked about the monkey. She’d missed that introduction obviously.

She shrugged ever so slightly, trying to play off her discomfort surrounding it. "It never really felt like home anyway." Then again, neither did Korriban or any of the other countless places she'd laid her head down to rest.

Her gaze moved between both of them, before she peered down at the satchel at her side with a tiny frown of thought. Well, the monkey was out of the bag now anyway - at least where this Household was concerned, so she lifted the flap and out popped little Fuz.

The monkey climbed up onto her lap, then wormed his way onto her shoulder where he clutched at her for support and oo'd vocally. "This is Fuz" she said, lifting a hand to gently caress his furry little head.

Siobhan had enough empathy to see Tegaea's apology was not just directed at Jyn, but also at her, and gave her a nod. Things were...awkward. They were not supposed to be like this. But she did not want to air marital troubles in front of the girl.

Fortunately little Fuz popped out and gave her something new to focus on. "Hey, Fuz," she said very warmly. "Hope you liked your meal." A bit hesitantly since she did not want to risk scaring the monkey, she reached out with her hand to gently stroke his furry little head. The Countess happened to be genuinely fond of animals.

Tegaea smiled at the adorable little thing. She wanted to pat it, but figured having too many new people touching it might scare the monkey.
"He's cute! Where did you find him? Is there anything special he likes to eat? I can get it in for tomorrow."

Jyn could sense their awkward exchange and it seemed as though the air were thick enough to cut for a moment. But then Fuz jumped out the bag and their attention became diverted. You could always count on something cute and furry to take the edge away. Since the connection between girl and monkey was so strong, Fuz knew immediately that Jyn trusted Siobhan and felt moderately comfortable in Tegaea's company. As a result he was eager to be petted!

"I found him on Gelgelar the first time I tried to flee Korriban. I had to hide him from the Sith when they dragged me back." She reached out to scritch behind her companion's ears. That was probably the most she had really said about her past since she had met Siobhan, and the thought of those rough years of her life made the young girl frown. "He'll eat anything he's given, it's hard to be fussy when you're constantly on the move, My Lady."

Siobhan looked sympathetic when Jyn spoke of her awful past with the Sith. Seeing the frown, she gave the girl's hand a gentle squeeze, though she shied away from more physical contact. Jyn seemed to trust her, at least a bit, but she did not want to rush things. There was also the knowledge that the girl would leave tomorrow...and she did not want her to.

Yep, she was already getting attached. "Oh, so he's a bit like my Jester then. Grrbyrr," Siobhan joked. "He's sweet. Glad you have him as a friend. We'll make sure he gets a package of food tomorrow." She also felt a stab of sadness because it seemed to her that Fuz had been Jyn's only constant companion throughout her trials and tribulations. She petted Fuz a bit more, clearly enjoying the chance to lap attention on something so cute and furry!

"Would you like to have a look at some of the books I mentioned earlier, Jyn? I can also, uh, give you something that can help you protect yourself," she offered. Namely a hold-out bolter. Standard gift for anyone Siobhan liked. Presumably she had a lot of those lying around. Along with lightsabres she never used but kept as trophies.

"Oh? What do you like to read? We have a big library of all manner of topics."
This writer, having realised how old this thread is, and what lay in store for Jyn, can only be sad for poor Fuz.

Otherwise she smiled and nodded, happy to be here for a new friend of Siobhan's.

Feeling the comforting squeeze of her hand Jyn first tensed in surprise before relaxing to the gesture. She was beginning to get the sense that Siobhan hadn't exactly had a sunshine and rainbows upbringing either. Yet look at her now! Did that mean that Jyn, too, could actually make something of herself, by herself? She hoped so. Moira seemed to think it possible, too.

"Thank you" she said, of the food package, before pondering the question of the books. "I'd love to see them, My Lady, and I read anything, really. At the moment I'm reading some history and philosophy on a really old sect of Force Users..." The notes of Master Seren were fascinating, but she supposed that they were just one person's point of view. While Jyn thoroughly enjoyed both of those subjects, she also enjoyed politics. At least, she did if Belkadan was anything to go by!

Siobhan had some intellectual interests, but they were rather narrow in focus. History interested her, but her focus was mostly limited to topics such as history of the Eldorai and Kaeshana, the Sith wars and military history. As for politics, she was of the opinion that the best way to run things was to introduce absolute enactic succession! She might be a little biased in that regard. She also had strong views about the 'Rise and Fall of the Omega Protectorate'!

Regardless, she smiled at Jyn. As long as the girl did not want to discuss Physics, Siobhan would be fine! "That sounds very interesting, dear. Our daughter's really into Physics," she said warmly. "Personally I'm not big on philosophy. I guess that's one of the reasons I ditched the Jedi. I'm into the Sith wars and Eldorai history though. Come on, we'll take you to our library. Sure you'll find something that hits your fancy." Having said this she slowly got up, looking a bit unsteady on her legs before she picked up her cane and stabilised herself with it, though she winced slightly. Old and new war injuries kept playing up and so she was visibly hobbling when she walked.
