Aboard the UGF Defender, Qena Orbit

Preparations for the wargame between the UGF Navy and the Lilaste Order were well underway. Today the final adjustments could be made, objections noted, and probably, bets laid upon the outcome, pride being what it was. The NSLR's Defender orbited above Qena, in a geostationary position just above the headquarters of UGF Intelligence. Behind the main command bridge was a large and well appointed Strategium; a place that had seen the very first meeting between the leaders that led to the formation of the United Galactic Federation.

Today that large room was playing host to a group of senior military officers, preparing for an upcoming wargame.

Commander Arla Susni was present in the Strategium, alongside Grand Admiral Hades of the UGF Navy, and several junior officers acting as aides and adjutants. A holoimage of a small moon hung above the main map table. The participants had all been sent a memorandum with the details of the exercise, so that they would be prepared for the meeting.

The meeting room was large and well lit, with holodisplays and other computers still active, most showing external views of Qena or basic scans of the planet and local space. There were no ship's personnel in the main room, nor ship's officers or security. There was a long table with caf and basic pastries as well as water and other refreshments.

Any adjustments and modifications to the terms of the proposed exercise would be hammered out today, to ensure everyone got the most out of the practice battle.

The objective was simple, with the area and scope and numbers limited to the area of space immediately around the small moon. Uninhabited but habitable, the moon was rocky, with its own thin atmosphere and sparse and hardy low bushes, vines and moss. The terrain was almost uniformly flat, with few hills. Selected for the exercise, the area of space around the moon is as sparse as the surface, with no asteroids or other stellar debris of any note or size. In short, there are few places to flee to or hide in this exercise.
