STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
(+) Melee and Unarmed Combat: Udom has not only received extensive training from a young age in the Echani martial arts and Teräs Käsi‎, but upon achieving the third tier of his native techniques at the age of 15, he spent the next decade of his life travelling the Galaxy to study other martial arts and add them to his personal style. Favorites include flashy holds, simple yet deadly chokes, limb-disabling joint locks, and counter-striking from fluid movement. His abilities truly shine though in melee weapon combat, as he’s exceptionally skilled with spears, swords, and throwing weapons.
(+) Force Augmented Abilities: Despite not knowing that he actually is force sensitive, Udom has shown proficiency with some more passive force skills such as enhanced speed, stamina, and senses. In particular his reflexes benefit greatly from this passive sensitivity, increasing his effectiveness in combat and survival.
(+) Naturally Stealthy: A slender frame, light step, and inconspicuous appearance make blending in quite easy for Udom. Whether it be in a crowd, small group, or fading into the shadows to avoid detection, he has a natural predisposition to staying out of sight when he wants to.
(+/-) Echani Combat Dedication: Having been raised in Echani culture, Udom firmly believes in the tradition that one cannot truly know another until they’ve fought. He expresses himself fully through his combat style, one of brutish kicks, knees, elbows, and body strikes, in addition to chokes and locks intended to incapacitate, temporarily disable, or outright kill his opponents if the occasion calls for it. This however leads him to distrust anyone he hasn’t personally fought in a classic Echani-style duel, which despite completing such earning his understanding and respect should the combatant be worthy of it, can lead to him being seen as confrontational. Especially considering his awkwardness in social situations with those he doesn’t yet trust.
(+/-) Thrill Seeker: Whether it be combat and dueling, podracing, high-risk piloting, or hunting dangerous game, Udom is always on the lookout for new ways to satisfy his need for excitement. While this can lead to fun and exciting situations, many of his hobbies are by nature very dangerous, and are often unnecessarily risky to his health and overall state of life.
(-) Coffee Addiction: Coffee is good. Like really good. So good in fact that Udom has to have at least three cups a day to stay at full attentiveness, and often goes for considerably more when able to. Of course like all addictions it has its drawbacks, such as restlessness and occasional difficulty sleeping, as well as frequently needing bathroom breaks due to its natural diuretic properties which can lead to dehydration. And, on top of that, if he goes for significant periods of time without coffee, there’s the withdrawals, which have considerable negative effects both physically and mentally.
(-) Unknowingly Force Sensitive: Udom remains completely unaware of his sensitivity to the Force, and as such has never received training in its uses and techniques. This hampers his potential greatly, as he’s limited to only passive abilities such as enhanced speed and precognition, seeing these only as natural abilities of his. Any active or intentional-use of the Force and other powers, even basics such as push/pull and mind manipulation, are far beyond his capabilities.
(-) Physical Size: Force-augmented strength and reflexes aside, Udom is not a large man whatsoever. He can easily be thrown around by a larger opponent, and in many instances(particularly unarmed combat) must rely on speed and technique rather than strength to ensure victory.
BIOGRAPHY
Born to a Thyrsian father and an Echani mother, Udom grew up on Eshan, where he spent most of his early life. Unknowingly sensitive to the Force, Udom’s training in the Echani martial arts was aided by his passive abilities, things he wasn’t even aware of, which accelerated his progression through the three tiers of the Echani art before he was 15 years old. Unarmed, melee, to an extent even training with primitive ranged weapons such as thrown spears and bows came naturally to him, as did flying, though his experience was limited to training modules as a youth. Fighting and learning new techniques however was his true passion, as he deeply espoused the Echani belief that the way one fought said more about them than any other interaction could. To that end, once he came of age, Udom decided to travel and learn as much as he could about other fighting styles in order to add to his personal technique.
Learning the Gand art, Teras Kasi, Jar’Kai, and several other styles of melee weapon fighting, Udom rounded himself out as a fighter, all while remaining ignorant of his Force potential. At the age of 22 however he ran out of money while studying art on Lothal, and to ease his financial woes, took up a job with a bounty hunter crew targeting a swoop gang known as the Cobalt Blood Gang. While he was of little use fighting them in flight due to his lack of experience and skill with ranged weapons, his abilities on a speederbike proved peerless among the group he’d joined in outmaneuvering their quarry, forcing them to ground. Once grounded he made quick work of their leader and two subordinates on his own, capturing them alive while the others were killed in combat by the rest of the group, earning them a greater payment than otherwise and solidifying his desire to take up bounty hunting full time while he continued to work on his form.
For the next few years he pursued bounty hunting as a career, finding side-hobbies in podracing and flying, putting his combat skills and naturally unassuming appearance to work tracking down bounties, though he wasn’t above picking favorites. Bounties offered by the more reputable and ostensibly ‘good’ persons and groups throughout the galaxy were high on his list of priorities, and he often shunned bounties placed by the Sith, or either of the growing Imperial groups. The freedom allowed to him to ply his trade as he saw fit, but also left him to his own desires at times, and the need for constant vigilance in the trade led to development of a serious addiction to caffeinated drinks, specifically coffee and caf. While it isn’t a problem on worlds where the beverage is plentifully available, if he can’t get at least three cups a day then there’s gonna be a problem.
Addiction aside, for the last two years he’s found himself living on Halamir, having tracked a bounty there and fallen in love with the culture and rebel spirit of its immigrated population. Plus they have a pretty great podracing culture and melee combat tournaments, which he loves.
