STRENGTHS
  • Are you sure this isn't a tank?: The Ursa used to be a light tank, in fact, it was built off the chassis of one. They kept most of the defensive options from the original tank design, everything from shield generators to EMP Micro-Rockets meant to disable homing missiles or exploding drones. The Ursa ended up having defenses for pretty much everything, making it an extremely durable ride.
WEAKNESSES
  • Kinda seems like a tank..: Since using the chassis of a failed tank design, the Ursa is incredibly heavy for an IFV. This makes it a slight challenge to actually deploy the thing on any given planet, requiring dedicated transports to do so rather than any kind of air drop.
DESCRIPTION

The Ursa was designed as a frontline infantry support vehicle, able to transport squads of infantry to the front lines as well as support them when they arrive against light armor and aircraft. It was first designed to support RAPTR teams, specifically designed to seat the twelve members of a RAPTR team and enough storage space to provide them with ammunitions and rations for about two weeks of deployment. The U.T.N. has never had to use it for any other deployment than along with a RAPTR team during their prolonged independent deployments, but enough of them exist to warrant large-scale mixed-arms warfare should the U.T.N. ever be drawn into a planetary conflict where conventional soldiers are needed. The Ursa itself is mostly self-sufficient, entirely run off of electricity powered by a micro-fusion reactor that pulls hydrogen from the surrounding atmosphere to use as a cheap and expendable fuel. It has several 'fuel tanks' of compressed hydrogen that can keep it running for about three days should its intake vents be damaged or should it be deployed with a planet with little to no hydrogen in its atmosphere.
