Twins Effect

The frozen world of Rhen Var was many things... but it wasn't the most fun to be on. Even going from the temple and ruins that had been being repaired by her mother and the silver sanctum. With her attention going to the map room as she was observing the planet from the major thing, she was happy t least. Here she could find planet grown solari crystals for what wuld become her saber as she was making notes. With the work that was going into it the padawan had decided to construct a saber based off one of her mother designs. Sometimes having a small team of artisen's with you turned out great ideas and inspiration as they built new ideas for saber hilts.

With the information and the data Orihime was gearing up for the cold weather as she loaded the information to her wrist pad and palmholo projector. She had the data and her gear as she was leaving the room with a nod of her head. The mask going over her face and hood over her head for the deep weather gear. The trek itno the mountains as she gripped the staff tighter letting it extend into a walking stick for balance. "ALright lets go and find one or two of them." She ws looking for the sections of plains where solari crystals grew and prepared to stay out until she found some. Thankfully she had her cube and shield amulet.

Pantorans loved the ice and snow.

Originating from the frozen moon of Pantora, and settling on the icy planet Orto Plutonia, the blue-skinned race of near-humans was as comfortable on a glacier as Ardans were on a beach. So, when the FrontierCorps had heard that there was going to be an expedition by the Silver Jedi to the frozen world of Rhen Var, it was no surprise that someone had suggested bringing a Pantoran along to help navigate the snowdrifts.

Gee, thanks [member="Coren Starchaser"].

Even with the temperatures dipping below freezing, the violet-haired youth wore only the Mandalorian-inspired uniform. A round patch on his right arm bore writing in Aurabesh which read, Levantine Astronautical Academy. A Czerka hold-out blaster was soft-holstered under the military style jacket, embroidered in green to denote the cadet's standing in his class. At the command to head out, the boy stepped into the frost-laced wind and smiled as the chill blasted him full in the face.

Holding out his arms, the boy paused to enjoy the sensation. He'd spent so much time among humans that he'd almost forgotten the feeling of standing atop a world covered in ice. "What's so special about these solari crystals, anyway?" the witch-boy inquired curiously.

Seriously, Jedi were crystal crazy. There were krayt dragon pearls, something called a kaiburr, and then even special cystals that had names like Kenobi's Legacy or Windu's Large Toenail. And you didn't even want to ask about Adegan crystals. There were about a hundred varieties of those.

All rare. All grown on worlds shrouded in death, and mystery, and more death.

Creating a crystal with Sith alchemy seemed a much more pragmatic and reasonable approach to making a lightsaber...

While she was walking and listened to the other padawan or apprentice with her she wasn't certain. There were a lot of new faces in the temples and a number of them avoided the floating temple on Cazador where she usually trained. The question of the crystal though that she could answer and she had her force blaster that used one. "Solari crystals are rare and tied to the lightside of the force even going to far as with the purity to repel and sting a darksider. The main one that was found has been lost but where crystal caves form you can find them and they are common to find on Rhen var compared to many places. My mother has managed to use them to channel the force to harm darksiders but it is still something to use in a saber to prevent a darksider from using it."

Repel or sting a darksider.

A crystal that allowed a weaksider to channel the Force to repel the Dark Side. The young Pantoran just blinked as his Sith indoctrinated mind tried to process that. He could tell that the Force was strong here. The frozen ground beneath them seemed to resonate with an intangible presence. Of course, few in the FrontierCorps knew that the Pantoran was Force Sensitive, and none knew that he was trained in the Dark Side of the Force by the Sith.

The Sith held their own religious ideals. The Pantoran had broken away from any tenants of that when he had been taken in by the Primeval. But, he remained someone who knew only of the Dark Side and had never been taught to use the Force any other way. "Wow... harm a darksider," the boy remarked, struggling to come up with something to say for the sake of conversation. "That sounds..."

Horrible. Horri-bad even. Fething horri-bad.

"That sounds great," the tween managed weakly. This was why voyaging with Jedi was just oh so fun.

There was something there but she was not that perceptive when looking back. Hard to read facial expressions without snow gear on... Add that she wasn't looking directly at him and well he could have just been trying to make himself warm to speak as she gave a nod of her head and moved following the map on her wrist. "I know it does, though there are stronger things to help. The arkennes the jedi found in an auction can be even more harmful. It disappeared but some efforts have been made to track it down." She stopped a little ways in and the sun broke as lines in the snow reflected golden yellow. "The crystal grow in rich vains and shine in the sun." She was pulling out some tools to chip away and chisel itno the crystal and stone. A good chunk could be polished down to fit into a saber.

Was there more?

Of course there was more.

To the Primeval, the Force was the Force. Some viewed it as an aspect of Sargon, something that was just there. An embodiment of nothing and everything at the same time. Others saw it as an aspect of Nogras, an energy field which radiated from the starmaker across all that was in Sargon. Some sects believed it connected to Balagoth, or Halrormalenth. But, in no case that the Primeval boy was aware, was it associated with Ashla or Bogan - a light side or a dark side. To the Primeval, what the Jedi or the Sith considered to be 'sides' of the Force was merely aspecting different ways in which people connected with it.

Boo had an emotional connection to the Force. With the childhood that he'd had, the boy had grown up with a great deal of fear and harbored a great deal of anger. He channeled some of that into his religion, coping with his feelings through prayer. But those passions were also an instrument, something he had learned to wield and manifest through the Force.

With it, he was able to do great things. And terrible things. But everything he did with it, he did for the sake of the Primeval gods.

So it seemed strange to be presented with artifacts such as the glowing crystal vein that the Jedi padawan was now tapping into. If the crystal worked as she described, then that reinforced the notion that there really was a difference between a lightsider and a darksider.

It would be curious to try and understand more of what those differences were, or meant.

There was a look on her face as Orihime was digging in the snow, at irst cracking the surface with the tools to dig in and really pry at the ice until she was seeing and the radiant light of the force came to her. She felt it resonating though while slowly motioning with her hands for Boo to come over and join her while she spoke. "So I was being rude before, I never asked your name?" She was listening and hammering into the crystal to break off some shards while going for the larger pieces. her mind was thinking of some of the designs over in her head. She had been working with a design for a saber the artisan's had designed hilt and function wise. A prototype and merging but hey her mother wouldn't leave something unmakable.

The boy winced.

He really didn't want to get much closer to the crystal, if what she said was true, and flinched when the light broke through the snow as she continued to chisel away at it. Even so, the Pantoran drew in a breath and moved closer as he was motioned toward. "Cadet Chiyo, miss," the boy responded politely, as the padawan continued whittling away at the crystallized death to darksiders gem.

He'd ask if there was a darkside equivalent or counter to the stone, but he was kind of already imagining that the padawan would respond to the Sith synth-crystal in his lightsaber in much the same way as she'd described for the solari. Of course, his lightsaber was with his pet Amphistaff - both tucked away aboard the Equinox back at Oswaft Station. Though, with as much as the FrontierCorps seemed to be assisting the Silver Jedi, he supposed he ought to get R3 to move the ship to Voss.

Well, maybe not Voss.

The shipyards of Mon Cala maybe. Or the moons of Iego.

Probably the moons of Iego. A lot of satellites and debris for a darksider to disappear into and worship the Primeval away from the Force Sense of the Jedi.

"Well I am Orihime." She had a grin on her face now while a large chunk came away with the chisel as she held it up. one hand holding it before she set the chunk in a bag with some more shards that could be used in other pieces of equipment. Her attention was on both t he cadet... cool rank she was certain it wasn't high but it was cool and Cadet Chiyo... rolled off the tongue while she was getting some more and almost sitting in the stone. "Thank you for helping me, if you want some take it, there is plenty here and the jedi can use it." With her tools going back into place she was smiling under the mask. "Not many like running around up here in the snow."

The boy looked at the yellow stone in the young woman's hands.

"Thanks..." the tweenage youngling began politely, even as he squirmed internally to try and think of how to get out of accepting the gift. All he'd need is for it to blow up or do some lightside-y thing and that might make this trip really awkward, really fast.

"It's pretty," the Pantoran remarked, which was an honest statement of the gem's color. Holding up his hands to indicate that he couldn't accept the proffered gift, the boy added, "But, to me it'd just be a pretty rock. You should give it to other Jedi who can get more use out of it."

Yeah, let's give all the Jedi anti-darksider rocks. That sounds super!

Not.

As for the cold... "I love the snow," the Pantoran answered earnestly. "I really want to see Midvinter one day. And Hoth," the youngling remarked candidly. No doubt naming off two of everyone's favorite summer vacation spots.

She was looking at him and bowed her head while standing there. "Well having been to Hoth I can say this... it is cold and has less stuff but riding on a tauntaun is just fun." She had done it once or twice and it was great while she was thinking about it with her bag full of crystals and she brushed off her hands. "The temple ruins are still being worked on though so we have plenty of time to head back slowly." She started walking while her neck popped with leading the way. "Come on there is sure to be some nice sights from the ridge." It was fun and almost having a skip to her walk while working to make sure she wasn't sinking into the snow.
