Twinkle, Twinkle

Owain

Lord High Grand Commander Esq.
"But you will anyway," he said, hanging his head low and trying to keep his emotions in check. "To all of us falls a choice I suppose..." And it was true. It was always her choice. "Well, I didn't bust you from your mothers cage to live in mine. But remember the Jedi are a cage too," he stated. It was all he could really say. She was going to her death. Felicity as he knew her would be gone. He knew what the Jedi were like, revelling in their ignorance. It sickened him.

"I'm going to miss you too," he replied, stoically looking her in the eye. "Remember, there is always a choice," Owain added, before biting his tongue and glaring at her brother, just standing there, judging him. Oh how he hated him at that moment. At least she wouldn't have to keep her promise to him...not that he was everglingtohold her to it, he thought with a faint grin.

She couldn't help it now. She flung her arms around him, burying her face in his shoulder. Glancing around at her brother through a small space between the hug, she gave him a warning look. Leave. Give her time to say good bye. Without his judgements. She would be the problem of the Jedi Order soon enough, but for now, she was still Felicity, spoiled brat, Princess, and a girl absolutely enchanted by this first love.
She felt like she was a character is a story, and she was reaching the end of a long chapter.
Losing Owain. Losing the only friend she'd ever really had. How could Graxin deny her a few moments to really say goodbye?

The Jedi are a cage too. She knew Daddy felt similarly about the Jedi. How would he take the news? And mom. Mom worked with the jedi on occasion to help train their healers, but that seemed to be more out of a moral obligation, rather than any friendship with the Order. She remembered how she spoke of them as well, with such disappointment. Graxin didn't seem to be having a very good time with them either. If he couldn't fit in, then how ever could she?

Graxin took the hint. He wasn't pleased that his sister had such attachment to the boy-- a bad influence in his opinion. The Knight turned about, and cracked a sly little smirk as the young man referred to the Jedi Order as a cage. A cage kept things safe. A cage kept order. Complete freedom was the way of the Sith, and Graxin was rather fond of not slaughtering children. He stepped outside, and slid through the door.

Closing it behind him, he lowered to the ground, content to wait.

She was hugging him. He slowly reached up and around, embracing her. It felt good, though tainted with the knowledge it wouldn't happen again. "Stay free songbird. Cages I'll suit you," he said softly into her ear. Urgh, he was going to miss her. Despite everything. "If anything, you'll know where to find me," Owain added with a smirk. As if. If Songbird had any problems, shehadher parents, her sister, and her uncles to help her out. Which reminded him, he really should contact Elliot soon and let him know he was still alive.

But for now he was content to remain here, with Felicity in his arms.

"Stupid Crow," she whispered, hugging him tighter, "I'll be back before you know it."

It wasn't exactly the truth, but it wasn't a lie either. Nothing could keep her from him. Not forever. Besides, his uncle was basically family. That made him... almost family. Besides, she wasn't even sure these space magicians would accept her. She wasn't exactly the most promising force user in the Galaxy. Sometimes she would see things. Sometimes she could push things. But she couldn't control anything, couldn't make herself do anything when she wanted to. Who would want someone that weak training as a Jedi?

No. She was sure they'd take one look at her and turn her away. She'd come home again. Soon. Finish at the Academy. Maybe run away with Owain again somewhere. Have another couple adventures.
Maybe. She really didn't know anymore.

She pulled away slightly until she could look him right in the eye. Last time she'd been this close to his face was the night of the ball. She'd slipped away, spent the evening with him. Then she had her first kiss. She wondered if he even remembered it. It wasn't long ago at all, but he hadn't really mentioned it after. Maybe it all really was just some dream of hers.

"Owain Barnabus, you're kinda clueless, you know."

He rolled his eyes. "Not as much as you," he shot back with a grin, but he knew what she wanted. He leant in and kissed her on the lips, lightly, letting her choose whether to deepen it or to pull away. A fitting little parting gift.

Another kiss. A last one for... who knew how long. It would be a while. She was sure of that. Graxin wasn't going to let her near him or any other boys she might attract any time soon. Well, Grax wasn't here now. It was just her and Owain. A kiss that she wanted to last forever. She put her hands on his face, returning the kiss with all the desperation in her little teenage heart. He was stupid. He was so dense if he didn't realize. She didn't date Glyph because she actually liked him, although she did appreciate him for his kindness. She had agreed to date Glyph because first relationships were destined to fail, and she didn't want it to fail with Owain. Now she was wondering if she had made a great mistake. If it would be best to have at least experienced something with him and lost him, than never to have at all.

She had certainly become more confident since their first kiss. The girl had been so naive back then, so unsure. Now...she was showing certain improvement. Owain's arm moved around her slim waist, holding her close. His other hand rose up to caress her face. Oh yes, he was going to miss her. He broke away for a quick breath, still smiling. "You've improved," he complimented, holding Felicity close. He really did not want to let her go. Not yet.

She was smiling when he finally broke away. She couldn't help it. Bitter as this goodbye was, she hadn't left him yet. She'd be happy for the time being, until he was out of sight. She had the rest of her training to miss him.

"You've improved,"

"So have you," she shot back, grinning like a fool. Now was the time. Graxin was going to come back in any second. She opened her mouth. She had something to say to him, now before it was too late. Something important. Something she could only say to him. They were alone. The moment was right.

She closed her mouth again and leaned in to press her lips to his, losing her nerve. She was going to regret this when she walked away.

Owain shook his head and laughed. Well, it was a good comeback. He tilted his head to one side as Felicity made to speak again but stopped. Huh...that was unusual. The girl rarely feared to speak her mind...and then she was kissing him again and so little mattered. There was nothing but her. He reached up and stroked her cheek, letting his fingers move up to run through her silky hair. She always took such good care of it, he remembered suddenly. Strange. He was going to remember the weirdest little things...

And there it was. The end. It took some time for her to pull away. His fingers in her hair kept her pressing in for more. Who could say what she might do if it were not for Graxin waiting just outside the door. But that didn't matter anymore. It was over. Finished.
She pulled away, ocean blue eyes locked on his.

"Wait for me."
She heard the words she spoke before she even thought them through. Wait for what? For her to come back as a freak? To stand still in time while she grew and flourished? It was an impossible request. One she simply did not deserve to ask and yet she found herself elaborating.

"Wait for me to come back and I'll wait for you too. I promise."

He quirked an eyebrow as she pulled away and made her request. Urgh...how romantic. Completely unlike him. But...well, he was responsible for her after all...somewhat? Kind of? He wasn't really sure, but he found himself nodding anyway. "I'll wait as long as you do," he promised her, a hint of sadness in his words. She'd forget about him in a month, he was sure. Not that she was mean or anything, but space wizards destroyed who you were at your core and reshaped you. He wished he could tell her not to go, but this was what she wanted. He wouldn't be another cage for her. The black-haired youth sighed and rested his hands on her shoulders. "You...you'd better get going. Your brother might think we're doing something inappropriate," he joked with a smirk.

"Don't let them change who you are, Songbird."

[member="Felicity Mason"]

The girl hesitated, watching the look behind his eyes. He didn't believe her. How could she expect him to? But Felicity had made a promise. She was a Mason, and she was going to keep her word. Just like Daddy always did. When she came back, she was going to be so much stronger, brave, independent. She was going to be everything anyone could ever want. A better her.

"Don't let them change who you are, Songbird."

...and then he said that. Who was she? How did she know what she couldn't change?
"I won't. Owain, go back to Imerria. You'll always have a home there. And... w-well, when I visit dad...."
She cleared her throat, gave him another quick hug and stood up.
"You know what I mean. Grax can't keep me away from my family. Mom and Dad'll have a fit. S-so... I'll see you."

Not goodbye. Never goodbye. Goodbye meant forever. This was temporary. Only a little while. She'd see him soon. She had to.
...Right?
