Description: The Tulak Hord-class Star Destroyer, in the tradition of the ancient Imperial-class, is a multirole heavy ship of the line, on par with the Republic’s Valiance-class or the Mandalorian Ash’amur-class in terms of firepower. Its increased volume permits it to carry planetary assault forces on par with an Imperial-class vessel, allowing the Tulak Hord to supersede the outdated Charon-class.
Unlike many modern designs, the Tulak Hord does not (figuratively) exist in a vacuum. Though it is perfectly capable in isolation, a throwback to the Imperial-class’s ability to stage a successful planetary occupation alone, the Tulak Hord is designed to coordinate a fleet of smaller vessels. The Tulak Hord is often deployed with Subjugator-class assault ships, allowing the Tulak Hord and its smaller Star Destroyer escorts to provide fire support. Meanwhile, the Tulak Hord’s tactical coordination centre, linked to powerful, flexible communications gear, permits maximum coordination for the Subjugators’ load of starfighters or ground troops. Comm punchers allow the coordination centre to convey orders even through normal jamming, battle debris, weapons efflux or astronomical interference.
Also unlike many modern and historical designs, the Tulak Hord’s bridge tower, reactor and shield generators have an extremely low profile. The ridge fin containing the shield generators is reinforced with turadium at key points to minimize the potential for one-hit ‘Chosen One’ kills. The tradeoff is a fractionally reduced shield recharge rate. In structural toughness and gross shield power, the Tulak Hord is equivalent to an ISD Mark II.
