Description:The TU-74568 Pilot Craft is a new approach to local navigation. While most craft are able to use calculated approaches downloaded from a central computer system at a space station, this system is not one hundred percent foolproof. Due to mix ups in computing systems, algorithmic anomalies and just general brokenness of computers, the Techno Union was created a craft that will allow a triple redundancy for moving craft in and out of ports. While some ships may need tug support, others are able to continue to the station, or from the station, on its own power. However, stations located in high traffic areas, asteroid fields or around nebula, have a constantly changing environment are not always home ports for many galactic shipping, freight and passenger vessels. For situations like this, a pilot boat, which will lead a craft out of an area, until it is in ‘open space’ has reduced ship damage by a significant amount.
The Pilot Boat is equipped with advanced sensors and navigation to assist in areas where the natural environment causes issues, additionally, lights that will give visual signals to incoming traffic to use caution, as well as a beacon that will tell a ship’s system the same is also employed. The actual pilot siion works in that a ship leaving port, or arriving in port, will meet with a pilot and be assigned a pilot ship. Leaving port, the local pilot boards the vessel to take control of flying until they are in open space, free from local hazards, at which time the pilot will leave the ship by a secure passage from the target ship to the pilot ship and return back to port. For incoming vessels, a pilot ship will meet them when they enter the hazard zone, dock, load the pilot up and escort the incoming craft to dock.
A very simple solution to a problem that can occur anywhere. Additionally, using the pilot system prevents collisions in a local space area, while providing insurance to the ship owners that their vessel is handled by locally trained professionals to get in and out of docks safely.
