Strengths:
  • Reinforced Turadium Plating: As the destructive prominence of their weapons became apparent, the Thyrsian Enclave began outfitting their starships with protective measures to safeguard themselves from others utilizing similar weapons against them. To this end, they’ve outfitted their armoured hulls with a layer of Turadium armour that would protect their hulls from the projected wroth of the Sun, and from their more conventional analogs as well. However, this barrier would not make their warships immune to damage as it was a measure that would merely postpone the inevitable.
  • Thyrsian Mirror Shields: Styled after the technology that preceded the modern energy shield, Thyrsian mirror shields were a secondary measure of protection. A redundant failsafe; should the primary barriers collapse. They were polished and infused plates that were mounted atop automated and sliding girders, that were capable of “deflecting” the lethality of capital-grade energy weapons away from the warship’s surface - before melting sometime thereafter.
  • Overwhelming Firepower: Equipped with a vast array of offensive weaponry, the 'Korybantes' was capable of bringing an almost overwhelming amount of firepower to bear in any combat scenario. Because of the streamlined design, and the placement of the varied weapon emplacements, running afoul of this deadly Quadrireme's broadsides wasn’t ideal for any capable Ship Commander - lest they wished to survive, and fight another day.
  • Countermeasure Suite: Fashioned with a state of the art countermeasure suite, the 'Korybantes' was capable of thwarting the myriad methods in which control of the warship could be taken away from the command crew. In addition to these various systems, the Quadrireme was outfitted with a hyperwave sustainer - an item that allowed the vessel to retain its momentum at lightspeed and punch deep into enemy-held territory.
Weaknesses:
  • Solarized Weapons: Despite the power afforded to the Quadrireme through its use of solarized weaponry, the primary weapon suite suffers from an inability to commit themselves to endurance warfare - when not enshrouded within a system rife with solar radiation. When the capacitors run dry, the solarized weapons were unable to produce their lethal beams - rendering a portion of the starship’s combat prowess inert - until they were recharged.
  • Turreted Concussion Missile Tubes: While the benefits of having turreted missile tubes were astronomical, it was weighed down by the drawbacks built into the very emplacement’s design. Because of the automated loading systems, and the direct connection to the exterior of the ship - there was a chance that a detonation within the turret could be shunted towards the warheads below. Such a chain reaction would ultimately doom the vessel to be crippled during combat, or if Fate truly had it in for the 'Korybantes,' there was a possibility of it being destroyed as well.
  • Limited Aft and Bow Weaponry: With the integration of the Eos sustained solar lances, the 'Korybantes' was capable of unleashing deadly broadsides from it’s mounted cannons; coring through almost any starship that found themselves within the warship’s grasp. However, this left the bow and aft sections lacking in such destructive weaponry - meaning that their lethality was admittedly reduced in both firing arc’s.
  • Central Computer Core / Automated Systems: Outfitted with a Central Computer core, and the myriad of droid brains that were required to keep the ship operational - the 'Korybantes' was highly vulnerable to close-proximity EMP detonations - that would cripple the vessel; until the excess of ionic energy was purged. This also made a prime target for enemy boarding parties as they could effectively control the entire starship from a single chamber - only if they previously knew about its location and purpose that is.
Description: As more and more Vessels were developed and produced by the Thyrsian Enclave, in direct defiance of the Echani-enforced Almera Accords, the burgeoning power of the Sun Guards - and by extension to Golden Company itself - began to rise with every new addition. The “Korybantes” - Class was the first Thyrsian cruiser to constructed in the aftermath of their traumatic defeat at the hands of their genetic cousins, and subsequent enslavement of their homeworld, that was entirely devoted to the purpose of warfare. Its design was more streamlined in comparison to the other vessels produced by the Republic Engineering Corporation, as its role on the battlefield was akin to those ancient frigates; who sailed across the sands and waters of distant worlds, unleashing terrifying volleys of archaic cannonade against their enemies. While the Quadrireme was a far cry from its venerable predecessor, it’s significance and tactical importance on the battlefield would become vastly similar in their own ways.

The Korybantes was outfitted with the first generation of Eos Lance batteries, that gave the cruiser a dastardly weapon to utilize on the battlefield. While they weren’t as maneuverable as their Hyperion counterparts, they offered forth a destructive capability that could very well destroy an enemy vessel with a single barrage of their energized beams. As they utilized the arcane technologies, first developed by their ancestors, the sustained beams created by the Eos cannons would render conventional deflector technology ineffective at stalling their coming demise. This process of lethality would ensure whatever, and whoever sought to challenge the Thyrsian’s for dominance - would find themselves having their ashes mocked by the ever-changing annals of history.

In addition to the first generation of Eos cannons, the Korybantes was outfitted with a myriad of Hyperion emplacements, and a choice selection of turreted missile tubes; that was again complemented by various offensive weaponry. This collection of death-dealing tools would allow for a Thyrsian Captain to adopt an adaptable approach to warfare -- as they would be capable of modifying their plan of attack almost on the fly. If an enemy found themselves equipped with nothing but molecular shields, as several vessels from the First Order found themselves outfitted with, the Quadrireme would excel at taking the vessel down with its extensive array of kinetic weapons. The same could be said of any Faction that saw fit to protect themselves against highly aggressive kinetic weapons, as they’d deploy their directed energy weapons instead.

Although the Cruiser is capable of being the jack of all trades, the master of none, the Korybantes was a singular Class of warship that sought to prove that old adage wrong in a myriad of ways. The warship was primarily a pocket-sized battleship with its armament, but was also capable of acting as a dedicated carrier - or even a planetary assault lander - that would be able to disgorge a small selection of troops and starfighters to an embattled sector. The Quadrireme was even capable of taking on warships almost twice its size, and utilize its exotic array of weapons in order to bring down their chosen prey. The Korybantes, was, quite literally, capable of doing it all - and doing it well.

With such versatility, and adaptability on hand - Victory for the Scions of Thyrsus was well in hand.
