DESCRIPTION

In many ways, the TTH/ACF-L-001 Thyrsian Battle Dress Uniform, known colloquially as ‘Wraidhide,’ was a testament to the tenacity of the Thyrsian people - their indomitable will to survive where none could dwell. With the Almera Accords stripping away the military might of the Sunborn, many of these ancient suits were destroyed by the invading Echani hordes, who feared the threat their genetic cousins may one day pose. However, there were some that managed to escape the incinerators and, would later become the progenitors of a new generation of bodysuits that would adorn the faithful. Several of those surviving suits were sacrificed atop the altar of progress, as they were torn apart and their ancient secrets divined. With the knowledge of their predecessors in hand, the Thyrsian Enclave began replicating the armoured body gloves on a scale that would see the entirety of the Auxilia equipped - with not only a state-of-the-art combat armour but a symbol of that desert world’s cultural heritage as well.

The ‘Wraidhide’ was essentially an advanced, and armoured environment suit that would protect the wearer from the harshest biospheres known to sentient life. It worked upon the simple concept of recycling a sentient being’s excretions into potable water - which could be directly consumed through a connected tube. While this system was originally designed for humanoids, the recycling and filtration system could be easily adapted to fit the myriad needs of a thousandfold species - so long as the required parts were on hand and there was someone knowledgeable to make the adjustments. With that being said, the armoured environment suit was capable of manually regulating its internal temperature to keep the wearer comfortable in many hostile environs. It was far from perfect, but as the armoured suit was designed to survive in the depths of the desert - one could imagine it would have difficulties adapting to the frigid cold of the tundra.

Therefore, the ‘Wraidhide’ would need many external components in order to survive in frozen climates.

As history has proven, time and again, armour has defended the lives of those who adorn themselves in its embrace. With this knowledge in mind, the Thyrsian Enclave saw fit to layer several forms of protection over their newest creation - so that those who were entombed within wouldn’t succumb to fear - and would carry out their duties to the last. The armour was formed from a mixture of scales, and segmented plates, which were situated around the most critical portions of the body suit. Those parts that weren’t covered, found themselves shrouded by armourweave; which would safeguard the wearer from the plasmatic fury of not only a blaster but a lightsabre as well. In addition to the myriad protective measures that the ‘Wraidhide’ offered, the suit was outfitted with a layer of thermal gel - that would harden once struck by an enemy projectile. While this was a boon in many respects, it was nothing compared to the hydrostatic impact gel found within the armour of the Sun Guard.

With this light, flexible combat armour protecting those who stood beside the Sunborn, the Golden Company found that it’s mission profile now greatly expanded from the more traditional forms of lightning warfare. Now, they were capable of waging war through not only a press of bodies but through more savage, guerrilla tactics as well.

Woe betide any that stood in the path of the righteous, and long live the fighters of Thyrsus.
