SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Mandalorian Steel Armor Platting
  • EMP Shielding
  • Tripple Ion Engine Set Up
  • Deflector Shield Generator (Ray/Energy Shield)
  • Life Support systems
  • S-Foil System
Strengths:
  • Thick Mandalorian Steel platting provides ample protection against ballistic attacks
  • EMP shielding protects systems from EMP blasts
  • Mass Driver cannons provide a great way to bypass many standard ray-shielding
  • With S-foils closed speed increases to slightly above average
Weaknesses:
  • Because of its armor plating, despite having three ion engines its speed is still slower than other starfighters in its size class
  • Lacks any sort of Hyperdrive making them reliant on other ships to move from system to system
  • Handles like a bomber rather than a starfighter making it tough to handle interceptors and even other starfighters in its size class in a dogfight
  • With S-foils closed Ion Cannon becomes inoperable
  • With S-foils closed Mass Driver Cannon becomes inoperable
Description:
The TSE-4, dubbed the Mandalorian TIE to the dismay of MandalMotors due to its triple ion engine setup, is the newest starfighter to come out of MandalMotors' shipyards. Designed for a new generation of fighter pilots it was marketed as a side-grade rather than an upgrade to their Purudii-MK.II, which is a faster and more agile fighter. While they both share a Mandalorian Steel hull, the TSE-4 also sports armor plates along the hull, and wings. The TSE-4 by contrast is a slower, more heavily armored starfighter sporting mass-driver cannons rather than standard laser cannons designed to shred through ships that either have no shielding or have only ray shielding. During high-stress situations as a way to reduce the risk of overheating such the starfighter an S-Foil system was added. This also provided better stability in flight when deployed and a slight boost in speed when closed, however this added speed came with the cost of deactivated weapons. Both the mass-driver cannons and the ion cannon were disabled when the S-foils were locked shut. This feature made many on its design team wonder if they were making a strafing bomber or a starfighter and many pirates and mercenaries use it as such due to its flex tube missile launcher being the only available weapon with the S-foils locked. With its armor plating and ray shielding dropping the TSE-4 onto an enemy ship became a common way to deal impressive amounts of damage to small frigates and cruisers. For the first new starfigher developed since the war with the Sith Empire, MandalMotors hoped the TSE-4 would soon top the Purudii Mk.II in sales, despite the Purudii's popularity and the TSE-4's nickname.

The ratings fall outside the elite starfighter template and need to reflect some kind of change.

Either drop production to limited, or bump the High rating down to moderate.

Can you elaborate? I'm confused by what you mean. Are starships just a black and white/min-max thing now with no variations? Lowered speed to Low rather than average.

There are no development threads anymore, meaning that all submissions (in this case starships) need to display balance in the following areas:
  1. Production
  2. Material (Restricted or Non)
  3. Armament
  4. Defense
  5. Maneuverability
  6. Speed
  7. Hyperdrive
  8. Strengths/Weaknesses
The templates in the starship section have a list of acceptable balance sheets, however you are not forced to follow those, but you must still work within the confines of what is considerably balanced, meaning if you add something somewhere, for instance, a higher rated armament, something else should be lowered. If you go far beyond those templates, multiple things need to be lowered, or production and weaknesses need to further balance the submission outside of just the strengths.
