Waiting in the sky
There were some tricks about life on the Rim. Jared, like most Starchasers knew them well. But he was the one acting on them. His father was out teaching new Jedi, new explorers. Kaia was out exploring and salvaging. But it meant that Jared had the mission to help those on the ground. And that meant helping another one of the waywards out there.
Shaye Ares
.
Jared ran across her a while back and while they were working together a fair bit, but definitely had their own lives and approaches. He wasn't sure about Shaye. The new ship he was using was something to make exploration a bit easier. It was a modified design of the Jedi Defender. A bit extended from the one in the Jedi records, allowing for one outside docked fighter, and one held internally. Basically, a prototype for explorers and the Warden who may need a quick getaway.
The ship aside, Jared had modified it to work with his astromech and exploration droids and a small crew. This trip? It was him and Shaye. The girl was his cousin, coming from that uncle. But she had all the hallmarks of a good pilot and operative. And with work on the Great River, to help move Jedi and sympathizers around the galaxy, it meant she needed to be aware of what situations were going to come up to her.
The light corvette had touched down on planetoid out in the chaos that surrounded his home region of space. While he and his sister were both Corellian and Mirialan, he was raised around the Chiss, and it was why one of the TIE Advanced models was sitting in the hangar of this scout ship.
Jared looked across the table at Shaye.
"So, now that we're deep in the chaos…" As the Chiss called it. "I found us a world that has a few things that you're going to need to be aware of, especially if you're going to take a more active role out there." With the Alliance, it was not always that Jedi needed movement, but employing smugglers and trailblazers was something his father was convinced needed to happen. And Jared felt they needed to be trained properly.
"Did you bring any gear for a hazardous terrain? And maybe creatures?" Granted finding them was the goal, fighting them? Not so much.
