Private Trouble on Yavin 4

Yavin 4
Wetyin's Colony
latest
Some time after the Battle of Voss, rumours had been circling across the Silver Jedi Concord. Rumours detailing the presence of Sith that had escaped capture on Voss fleeing deeper into the Outer Rim, one of these rumoured locations to house some escaped Sith was Yavin 4. Jedi Knight Cas Tynen and Jedi Padawan Mathieu Brion, veterans of the battle, were tasked by the Concord to investigate these matters.

Shortly after disembarking from Mathieu's freighter, the pair of Jedi made their way to the moon's main settlement of Wetyin's Colony - it was a peaceful settlement, mostly filled with farmers or other forms of honest workers. It was nice, so much so that Cas made a mental note to add it to his list of potential retirement planets. During their walk there, Cas nudged his taller friend's bicep with his elbow "Wonderful weather we're having, perfect for hunting Sith." Cas quipped sarcastically contrary to what the weather was actually like - damp, grey and gloomy.

Upon reaching Wetyin's Colony, the settlers immedately recognised the Kiffar and Morellian were outsiders based on their equipment and garments, but they held no ill will toward them as each settler that caught one of the Jedi's eye, met them with a nod and a friendly smile. However, despite their friendly exterior, Cas and maybe Mathieu would sense undercurrents of anxiety which made the young Knight curious as to why, although he had some suspicions.

Approaching the nearest settler, Cas greeted them with a soft smile before speaking "Hey there, my name's Cas Tynen and this is my friend Mathieu - we're Jedi and--" at the word Jedi the settler's eyes widened. Her friendly demeanour shifted into desperation, grasping at the plating on Cas' torso she stared deeply into Cas' brown eyes but despite her desperate demeanour, he could sense relief within her. "Jedi! T-thank the stars you're here! With them so near, we didn't know what to do!" she exclaimed quietly, the Kiffar glanced at Mathieu "Them?" he asked, wondering if he knew what she was referring to "Sith... Master Jedi, Sith are here on Yavin..." she revealed, fearful, as if what she just said had doomed or cursed her.

The shut-down procedure was fast. Cassie had gone on out ahead to have a look around. Mathieu took a look out the window as he was waiting for the final confirmation that the ship had indeed been shut down. They were a fair bit into Sith space and while they were not too shy about being Jedi, they did try to keep a low profile when going there. If their foes sent an investigative force, that would be deeply undesirable.

The Sith that they were after had participated on the battle of Voss and had been marked as particularly dangerous and vicious. It was unclear how large the enemy force was. Something that was clear, however, was that they had to be neutralised and for that purpose, the two Jedi had been sent to investigate. The task was not necessarily to take them out - for two Jedi could only do so much. But at this point, any information was valuable.

Catching up to his mate, Mathieu smirked at the comment "Yes, Master Tynen, your wisdom is legendary" His tone was sarcastic as was his bow, deep enough for him to momentarily be shorter than the Knight. At least he showed his superior an appropriate amount of respect or something.

It was pleasant to see the small Colony. It reminded Mathieu of a good mission he had been on once - small villages like these often had the best jobs. Not in terms of credits, naturally, but rather in terms of moral justification. He always tried to find a good reason for why he did a job and that was always easier when working for places like these. But that was not the reason for the Jedi presences now.

Cassie was being bold, for he was very quick in telling the locals about the two of them being Jedi. But then, with his Heavy Covert Armour, the outer robes would be rather quick to give it away regardless. Maybe he should have taken the robes off for an occasion such as this one. If it had not been such a sad sight to see the local's desperation, Mathieu would have found it amusing to see how quickly she was fawning over the Knight. He really did seem to have something which attracted people to him.

The news that the Sith were there was good. It was an illusive bunch that they had to deal with, and the way she worded it made the Padawan think that it had to be Sith which usually weren't there she was speaking of. "Have they done anything to you or the others here?" The woman looked up at the large Morellian "Yes, our food! Our food and our medicine! They took it, killed old Rory too!"

His gaze fell "I am sorry for your loss. Do you have enough to sustain yourselves?" Feeding a village may not be doable for most, but as the lover of food that he was, Mathieu had a lot in stock on his freighter. Not to mention that he ate magnitudes more than most during a day. "Not for long. We needed that food to survive until the next harvest" Mathieu nodded "We'll see if we can't bring it back. Otherwise, we've got some supplies we could share when we get back, OK?" the woman nodded.

And then came the most essential question: "Where are they?"

Cas gave Mat a sidelong glance at his over the top bow, prompting a broad grin to spread across his cheeks. Laughing, the Jedi Knight playfully slapped his friend's shoulder "Stand up, you dork!" he exclaimed jovially. Laughing hard enough where he felt his knees begin to grow weak. The guy could be a complete fool but in the best way possible.

With confirmation of the Sith being on the moon, Cas steeled himself as he gently wrapped both of his hands around the woman's wrists and calmly removed her grip from his chest plate. Glancing over periodically between Mat and the woman as they engaged in conversation, he made sure to commit every word said to memory. His teeth gritted at the mention of one of the settlers dying to the hands of a Sith, it didn't surprise him in the slightest but it did anger him that they so easily took a life for no sensible reason... at least, no sensible reason to him.

He softly smiled at Mat, appreciating his kindness and willingness to give his resources to them - day by day, Cas could see the Morellian growing into the role of a true Jedi, even as a mercenary Cas could see he already had the traits of a Jedi to begin with. He was already becoming a credit to the Order and the Kiffar was proud of his friend for it.

"I-- there's a temple close by the settlement - just a few miles west. It--it has a dark feeling to it. If I had to guess, they would be there." the settler said, answering Mathieu's question, Cas nodded at her statement "Thank you, we'll handle them. They won't be bothering you from here on out." the Knight assured her with a smile. As the Jedi moved to pass her, she grabbed his arm and pulled him slightly "Wait..." her voice was low and came out as barely a whisper, followed by her demeanour faltering "They... they took my son and daughter..." Cas felt pity for her and it showed in his eyes. With his free hand, he placed it around her hand to comfort her "We'll bring your children back. I promise." he said with a look of determination.

Looking at Mat, he jerked his head motioning for him to follow. Once they were out of the settlement and in the damp jungles of Yavin, Cas demeanour remained serious and focused "The children the Sith took are probably Force-sensitive." Cas surmised, coldly glaring at the path ahead. He had no basis but he was firm in that belief, what other reason would the Sith have to kidnap children from a settlement - they had already been stealing resources and it wasn't likely they needed the children for any form of ransom.

As the pair trailed deeper into the jungle and drew further from Wetyin's Colony - he began to feel the cold of the Dark side, a sensation he seemed to know too well these days, grow with every step he took.

Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion

Mathieu had not failed to notice how the woman had thrown herself over the Knight that he was with. Cassie was a handsome guy, but it always impressed the Morellian how he seemed to be able to draw people in. Even at the strangest of times, for as it turned out, her kids had been taken too. In the end, it did not matter - they were Jedi and they were going to do their best to protect the innocent and bring light where it was dark.

Cassie finished the conversation for them. Mathieu had already said his piece and was content to let the Knight lead. He was capable and often seemed to know just what to say when the Padawan himself would have struggled. Still, he raised a surprised eyebrow as his friend promised that the Sith would not bother them from here on out. It was a confident statement considering their opponent's reputation and the nature of their mission.

It would not be long before the two moved out into the jungle towards where the locals had claimed that the temple was. He nodded "You're probably right, Cassie" he said as the two kept wandering. The large Morellian shook his head "Regardless of their force sensitivity, we should bring them back." he didn't doubt that the Knight agreed but it had to be said, for taking children hostage was always unacceptable.

The dark side presence kept growing stronger and more clear - it was a sign that they were probably getting closer to the Dark Temple. Mathieu had a feeling that it would be a testing experience - not only in regards to their capacities to face the Sith, but also to their capacities to withstand the lure of the dark side. Regardless, Mathieu kept speaking "We promised them quite a lot there, Cassie. Get them their food back, the kids, even to make sure that they wouldn't bother the locals again." he let out a sigh "I guess we don't have much of a choice, do we? We have to succeed or else they'll keep going as they have."

At first, the sound seemed distant - it was of a stream of water. But as they kept moving past trees and shrubbery, it soon became apparent that it was closer than expected - but the stream was deep in a steep ravine. Mathieu slowed his pace as they neared it and let out a whistle. It echoed back at him and when he kicked down a rock, it took several seconds until the splat would be heard as it hit the water down below. "Looks like they destroyed the bridge" he said, pointing at the completely ruined remains that hung from the other side.

Mathieu looked over to the other side "It doesn't look all too long does it?" he asked, hesitation was clear in his voice. It was almost guaranteed that Cassie was better at jumping than Mathieu was and while the former Mercenary would not be surprised if his friend could make it over, he did not like his own chances. With a discrete move, he activated his substance regulator, infusing himself with a stim that enhanced his strength. Continuing to bolster himself, he enhanced his strength further through the force. He was subtle about it - there were no fancy moves or bright auras - but it was there.

The broad shouldered Morellian walked over to a nearby tree and wrapped his arms around it. He was not quite tall enough to be able to wrap around it completely, but his grip was good. The beginning was slow, but his constantly increased pressure on it finally caused it to fall over, ripping several roots out of the ground in the process. If Cassie had already crossed the gap on his own, Mathieu would holler to him, if not he would speak with a jestful tone "Maybe I should've become an engineer instead. This might be my true calling" He flashed his friend a mischievous smirk before looking at the trunk "And now comes the balance part" he said before starting to make his way across.

Cas was glad that Mat agreed with him, made his theory all the more tangible and nodded in agreement about bringing the children back. It hadn't even crossed his mind that they were Force-sensitive and would probably make some good assets to the Silver Jedi, but that didn't matter - Jedi taking children against their will was a thing of the past and the Kiffar had no ambitions to do the same with these children they were going to rescue.

The growing presence of the Dark side made Cas nervous slightly, he drew too close to its allure at times and following the events on Dorin, he was still very much worried if he truly came back from the Dark side's pull. Only time could tell, and it scared him. Mathieu almost seemed disappointed from the promises they made back at the settlement, casting the taller Morellian with a sidelong glance, Cas smirked. "Don't worry, bro. We will get them everything they need." he assured Mat in a confident manner because, well, he really was confident in the fact that they'd help out the colony one way or another - so much so, that him aiding the colony was a hire priority than stopping these Sith.

The pair eventually came upon a steep ravine, alongside Mat, Cas took some steps and stopping right at the edge of it before glancing down to the stream below. Mat's comment about the bridge being destroyed brought out a chuckle in the Kiffar, "For real? I just thought that it was the bridge's day off today." Cas quipped in a snicker. "Nah, we could jump it. Probably." he surmised as he took a few steps back. Putting one leg forward, Cas bent over slightly as his gaze was laser focused on the other side of the ravine. After a few moments and without warning, the reckless Jedi Knight darted toward the end of the ravine in a fact-paced sprint. Just as his front foot reached the edge of it, Cas reached out to the Living Force, its energy swirled around him as he used it to launch himself across.

Reaching the other side, Cas landed with a grunt followed by a roll forward. Lucky for him, some debris collapsed from the spot Cas had initially landed at and if he hadn't had rolled in time, it would've been curtains. Dusting himself off, Cas turned to the side Mat was on and raised an eyebrow "Hey, man. What're you... waiting... for?" his process of speech slowed as he watched the Morellian wrap his arms around a tree and tip it over to form a makeshift bridge. "Wow! I wonder how firm your handshake is!" he quipped, hollering at Mat. Watching as Mat started to cross the tree bridge, he slightly raised his arms in front of himself in faux worry "Careful, falling into a river stream is an embarrassing way to go out - especially after surviving Voss and the Bryn."

After Mathieu had made his way across, Cas would lead for a bit more before raising his arm in front of the Padawan to halt him "Alright, we should be close enough. We should try to hide our signatures in the Force." the Knight suggested before performing a Force enhanced leap into a treetop above them. Looking down at Mat, Cas made another suggestion "Much as it goes against everything I stand for--" he quipped "--We should try and be less gung ho as possible, can't risk freaking them out and doing something horrible to the kids. Right?" hoping to garner Mat's opinion. If he would agree, Cas would go on his way, freerunning through the trees until he reached the woodland's edge which revealed the Dark side temple in all of its glory. Luckily for them, there were no Sith nearby and no individual presences he could sense either... although, it wasn't exactly reliable as he felt he was in a swelling of the Dark side's energy.

Sending his friend an amused smirk, Mathieu let out a small laugh. Cassie got him there - he had indeed been stating the obvious. His eyebrow produced a skeptical twitch as the Knight suggested that they jump across "Nah, mate. I could throw you across. probably" he fired a little salvo at his friend, feeling like it was deserved for the ridiculous proposal. "Have you forgotten how I look under these robes? There are no wings."

***

Mathieu stepped onto the fallen tree and started by standing still whilst trying to find his balance. Cassie asked how firm his handshake was upon which he smirked once more "I don't know, Cassie. Wanna do some field testing?" His jestful tone was accompanied by a friendly smile as he held out his hand, pretending to be seeking a handshake "If so, wait till after we're done. I don't want you fighting the Sith with only one hand."

Slowly but surely, the former Mercenary started to make his way over. He noted what the Kiffar said and let out a chuckle "If you keep that up, I might fall for real" he said, trying to keep himself from laughing and consequently loosing balance. What might have been easy for Cassie was a bit more of a challenge to him.

It was not long before the Knight's hand shot out. Mathieu's gaze quickly latched onto it and he allowed himself to be stopped. With a confused look, he eyed the other Jedi before being told of their nearby foes. Reaching out, the large Morellian nodded "I sense them too"

The Padawan nodded. This was a field in which he had studied particularly hard. Throughout his life, he had always been poor at sneaking about - his large and well muscled frame made him easy to spot and when he stepped on planks, they tended to squeak particularly loudly. But ever since he became a Jedi, he had become much better in keeping a soft step. Beyond that, he had studied the Holocron of Jedi Master Gro Slubb carefully and even wore his own armour which helped his force capacities when trying to stealth.

He watched as his friend made it up the tree and kept looking at him for a bit. Mathieu brought up his comms and spoke to the Kiffar with a low voice, not wanting to bring any attention to them if someone was near enough to hear a holler "Need a hand in getting down again? I could do to this tree what I did to the last one" he joked before raising his arm in a wave and focusing on his force stealth, reducing his force signature and making himself nigh on undetectable by the naked eye.

With his foot, Mathieu drew an arrow in the ground, pointing to the direction he intended to go in. And with that, he took off. Soon, they would arrive by a large temple. Four people were outside - two were working on repairing a shuttle and did not seem to be force sensitive. Still, they wore clothes which seemed Imperial in nature. The other two were patrolling the grounds but stayed relatively close to the temple entrance. The entrance itself stood wide open, but from Mathieu's position, it was impossible to see if anyone was inside.

Trusting in his invisibility, the Padawan moved forth, closing the distance on both the shuttle and the entrance.

"I'm good - save your strength for later." he quipped back, watching Mat, his eyes went wide when he saw the Padawan perform a technique he never knew of. Although, his shocked face transitioned into a smirk "Full of surprises, Brion." Cas whispered to himself. Before making his own way there, he spotted the arrow that the Morellian marked before heading off.

There was a small guard of Imperials between the Jedi and the entrance, while he was sure Mat had an efficient way of entering without raising suspicion, Cas had to be more "creative" with his infiltration. Scanning the area, he turned his attention to the two individuals working on a shuttle and raised his hand slightly, reaching out with the Force, he levitated a hydro-spanner laid inside a toolkit before hurling the hard metallic object into the back of a technician's head, knocking him out. Concerned, the technician rushed to check on his partner and not long after the two guards followed suit. Focusing on the technician, who had lighter clothing than the two guards, Cas summoned the Force once again and lifted the Imperial technician and threw him into one of the guards with another force to knock them both off their feet.

"WHO'S THERE?! SHOW YOURSELF!" the final guard yelled out in panic, aiming around frantically with his blaster rifle. Still perched on the treetop, once more, the Kiffar called upon the Force and telekinetically yanked the guard's blaster rifle out of their hand and struck them across the face with their own rifle. With that cleared up, the Jedi Knight descended from the treetop and out of the woodland's edge, the Jedi landed gracefully on his feet before making his way to the foot of the temple, toward its entrance.

Due to him hiding his signature, Cas couldn't sense his friend and so - he whispered out loud "Matty, you there?" whether or not he was there, he'd continue inside. The Knight clenched his eyes shut and clenched his jaw, fighting off the cold whispers of the Dark side's magnetism - as he felt it begin to overtake his rationale, Cas began to focus his concentration on the Light of the Force as well as his own. He also began to focus on his bonds, on those closest to him, the people who kept him grounded and what he saw, as his reason for staying in the Light.

With that to invigorate him, he pressed on deeper through the Temple and after travelling below a flight of stairs he would come across a long, granite hall. Cells were located in this hall, what echoed through the halls were quiet sniffling - approaching the cell where he heard the sniffling come from cautiously, Cas wrapped his fingers around the cell bars and peaked in on an older girl cradling a younger boy, tears streaming down their faces and eyes redder than Dathomir.

Sympathy and sadness immediately took over the Kiffar's face as he watched from behind the cell door "Hey, hey... it's gonna be alright." he assured them, forcing a smile as to reinforce his claim.

Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion

This was why Cassie was a Jedi Knight and Mathieu was just a Padawan. In awe, he stood behind a few crates and watched how the Knight used telekinesis to make both tools and people follow his bidding. There were multiple challenges which the Kiffar was overcoming at once. He was working from a long range. He showed meticulous control over small objects. Even sentient beings fell under his sway. And the precision he had allowed him to achieve the results that he was hoping for. Mathieu threw an eye on his friend up in the tree - it was an impressive display which brought a smirk to his lips. It was becoming rather obvious that he still had much to learn.

He heard the whisper loud and clear - for he stood close to the Knight after he had come closer to the entrance. It was a flattering question because it meant that his practice of the skill was good enough to make him rather hard to sense through the force. Moving fast, the Padawan closed the distance between them before hopping in front of his friend, way too close for him to avoid colliding. It was a silly prank, for while Mathieu was indeed clad in heavy armour and his form granting him a considerable bulk, it was still enough to rub his concentration, and once more making him visible. "I'm here" he whispered with a mischievous grin.

Taking off the outer robes was not hard. In fact, Mathieu had designed his armour for that exact task to be easy. With a shrug, the robes fell off but before they hit the ground, he caught them and held them up to the Knight. "Take it on" he said. The robes would probably be a bit too long and Mathieu himself was way more noticeable when his armour plates were front and centre instead of the dull robe, but it had a purpose. The adegan weave which the robes possessed made it easier to concentrate on stealth force powers which would put their capacities to stay hidden at a more equal level, an essential component if they were going to work as a team. But there was more to it.

The Dark side was strong in the temple. Mathieu could feel its oppressive presence and he was sure that Cassie could too. The Padawan was secure in the light. He had not struggled much with the pull of the dark side, even though he had been in situations where it might have started to pull on others. For he had seen its terrible effects, and he wanted nothing to do with it. The adegan weave helped the wearer centre themselves and find peace and knowing his friend and the struggles he saw on Manaan, Mathieu wanted him to borrow it. Even if Cassie signalled 'no', Mathieu would lean in and whisper "Take it"

With that, he reentered his force stealth - although this time, it would be easier for their foes to spot him - still, if he stuck to the shadows or stood very still, it would remain challenging for them to find him. Together, the two moved into the temple, seeing the numerous Imperial guardsmen in there was daunting. They were mostly idling, playing pazaak and laughing loudly at each other's jokes. But the risk that one of them would spot the two Jedi was still significant.

Fortunately, they made it past the room and soon found themselves in the cellar with numerous holding cells. On the left, they seemed more simple and primitive while the ones on the right were slightly more sophisticated - both being better secured and sound isolating. The closest one to the right stood empty and so did the one after that. Mathieu's eyes were wandering to the third one when Cassie found two kids. Looking at them and reaching out through the force, he could guess that they were force sensitive. He sent his friend a look whilst thinking that they had to belong to the Colonist they had met earlier, but he stayed silent, words were probably not needed.

While he left the Knight to deal with the kids, Mathieu continued moving forward until he reached the fourth cell on the right. Inside, he saw an armoured guard inside, beating up a Chadra-Fan prisoner with a shock baton. The Padawan let out a gasp upon seeing it - the helpless little alien seemed to scream in pain as it was hit. He wanted to rush in immediately - but he knew that if he opened the door, the victim's pained wails would bring the attention of their nearby foes. Still, something had to be done, and so, Mathieu dropped his stealth, only maintaining his minimized force signature. It didn't matter, for he stood behind the guard. With more focus, he then applied the force on the Chadra-Fan to knock him out.

The truce was now over. With the push of a button, Mathieu opened the cell doors and quickly took a step in. The surprised guard looked up at the surprise guest but did not hesitate. He was used to the violence and jammed his shock baton right into the large Morellian's abdomen. Mathieu did not flinch. His heavy armour and powerful build ensured that he could dismiss the attack without any issues. After trying again with the same results, he quickly reached for his comms unit. But Mathieu was quick and managed to snatch the guard's wrist. With a hard squeeze, he forced the Imperial to let go of the comms unit. And with that, he forcefully took off the man's helmet and punched him in the head, immediately knocking him out.

He wore a stern expression as he looked down on the lumped body of the guard whom laid by his feet. But the expression soon softened as he took a step forth and crouched down by the unconscious alien. "We'll get you out, buddy, don't you worry." he said whilst putting a hand on the victim's forehead to better get a sense of his health. "Stable" he whispered. With that, he started to attach a few straps to the little alien and connected them to the ones that sat at his back, allowing him to carry the unconscious prisoner with both arms free.

Cas noticed a slight... 'shimmer' in front of him, if you would even call it that. Cas squinted as his eyes focused on the wave-like phenomenon in front of him before ultimately being startled by Mathieu's voice which declared he was there, Cas gasped and jumped back with his hand gripping his clipped lightsaber hilt "Ugh! Man, I could've turned you into a Morellian kebab!" the Kiffar exclaimed before eventually calming down and letting out a light laugh. Looking at the long robe being displayed in front of him, Cas glanced back up at Mathieu and then to the robe before shaking his head "Appreciate the offer but wearing the robes has never been my thing. I mean, I tried it out once but... eh." he admitted with a shrug.

However, Mathieu was the only person Cas had confided in and, as far as he knew, was also the only person who knew of Cas' inner battle with the Light and Dark as the Padawan once again offered the robe, insisting he take it. The Knight looked away for a moment, taking a few seconds to deliberate before turning his head to face Mat and with an exasperated sigh he reached over and took the robe, wrapping it around himself.

********
Inside the holding cells, Cas was able to sense the Force within these children - swirling around them like a calm wind. He was certain these children were intended to be tortured into opening up to the Dark side, and not only that, Cas knew in his gut that these were the offspring of the settler they had met earlier. However, he was now faced with a choice - flee with the children now and come back? Or leave them here, where they'll most likely be safe and deal with the threat of the Sith first. It was a difficult choice and one he wouldn't make lightly

Closing his eyes, Cas opened his palm and hovered it over the locking mechanism. Visualising its internal components, the Kiffar used the Force to manipulate its locks and subsequently open the door quietly. Raising a finger to his lip, Cas approached the frightened children as they quivered and winced as he approached them - they were afraid of him too. It was... understandable but nonetheless a difficult sight to bare. Crouching below, Cas met their terrified gazes with a warm and friendly smile "Hi, I'm Cas." he whispered "I'm a Jedi Knight, your mommy sent us to help. We're going to get you out of here, alright?" the Knight affirmed, smile unwavering. The two children shared a glance before their eyes returned to Cas, their sniffling ceased but he could still sense the fear within them.

His smile faltered slightly and he let out a pained sigh, his head hung low as he gathered the strength to say the words, eventually he brought his head up and looked the eldest sister in her light blue eyes. "First, I'm going to need you to be a brave big sister. Can you do that?" he asked, it took her a moment but she eventually nodded in confirmation "I can't leave you here on your own, so you'll have to stay with us for a bit okay? I promise nothing is going to happen to you while you're under my care." Cas revealed. The sister was silent but after a few moments, she finally responded "O-okay, Mr. Cas." some confidence began to show.

Cas had decided to meet in the middle - he couldn't risk leaving the children here, for when his and Mat's presence were eventually discovered it was a possibility some Imperials would take the children and flee while he and Mathieu were distracted. Cas also didn't want to risk the Sith growing cautious and leaving when Cas and Mathieu returned the children to Wetyin's Colony. Standing up to his full height, the Jedi Knight extended his arm for the youngest boy to take before pulling him and hoisting him up onto his back, holding him up with his cybernetic arm while Cas used his flesh hand to guide the eldest girl and hold her hand.

Returning to Mat, Cas had no idea what had just transpired with Mathieu and simply noticed the Chadra-Fan on his back. Leaning to his left slightly to get a better view, the Kiffar's eyebrow quirked "Where'd you find him?" he merely asked.

Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion

He took a big step over the unconscious body of the guardsman to get out into the corridor. The Chadra Fan on his back felt light - he knew that he wouldn't feel very encumbered by it. He had carried heavier weights in the past so this one wouldn't even be close to being a problem. What could become a problem, however, was the little alien's limbs - he feared that they could get in the way if he was to enter a battle.

Then he saw Cassie. A smile spread across his lips as he pointed into the cell with the knocked out guardsman "Silent cell." it was only a brief sentence, for he then nodded to the little boy and the girl "Seems like we've all found a few new friends, haven't we" he said, first looking to the Knight and then to the girl by his side. "Would you like a ride too?" he asked, figuring that he could probably let her sit on his arm for a while. But she shook her head, saying that she had to be a brave bigger sister. He gave her an approving nod before pointing his finger down the corridor "We should continue."

In truth, they had no choice, for with all the extra people, they could not risk going back up to the place where they just came from, for it was filled with guards. Taking the lead, figuring that Cassie had already gained the trust of the kids and that he better stay with them at the back, Mathieu moved down the corridor. Staying right by the bend, he peered over. The coast was clear, and so he gave the others a wave to follow.

Slowing his pace, the Padawan looked to his friend "Got a plan on what to do if we have to fight? You can't do all your jumping about if he's riding your back." he asked, well aware of Cassie's usual fighting style. The two could speak for a little bit longer, but soon, they both had to quiet down, for they arrived at some stairs.

Mathieu signalled for the others to wait and slowly but surely, he started to sneak his way up the stairs until he saw two Sith Knights. Both seemed to be alerted to something "Weakness, Brother. I can sense it - two feeble force signatures on the run." it was a mocking tone. While Mathieu and Cassie could hide their force signatures, the kids could not and it seemed like these two sensed that they were getting close. The Padawan rushed down the stairs and whispered urgently "The kids need to go back and hide, they're coming" and soon enough, a familiar tone could be heard as the two dark siders walked down the stairs "This will be fun. Always wanted to see how much the little brats could take before breaking"

Cas glanced at the cell he came from, letting out a nonchalant "Ah." nodding as he accepted Mathieu's answer without needing to think about it that much. When the Morellian took notice of the children, he nodded again "Yeah, these are..." he paused, closing his mouth as he realised he didn't actually get the names of the children just yet - fortunately, the girl read the room and answered for the Knight "My name is Zena and that's my brother Rix." she said quietly, although she seemed to be growing more comfortable with the two. The Kiffar watched and smiled as Zena and Mat interacted before following him as he led on.

As he followed, Cas periodically asked the kids if they were okay and would receive a similar answer each time - they were okay but wanted to go home. When Mat slowed his pace, Cas would follow suit, sensing that he may have wanted a few words before pressing forth "Not exactly." he admitted "They're small, this is a big place - maybe they can hide. Would you be okay with that?" Cas would answer, transitioning into questioning the kids during it. Zena seemed to be the brave one as she immediately nodded her head with her lips pouted in determination "Me and Rix play hide and seek all the time.", it took a minute of convincing from his sister before Rix finally agreed as well "Good. Keep your brother safe, if anything happens we'll find you after?" Cas instructed.

The group came up to a flight of stairs, while Cas waited for Mathieu to scope it out he could feel a Dark presence among others closing in before hearing voices come up from the stairs. Quickly, he let Rix down and pointed in the direction for them to find a place to hide and without hesitation, Zena grabbed her brother's arm and hurried off. Putting his trust in Zena to find a place to hide and keep her brother safe for the time being, Cas quickly unclipped his lightsaber and ignited it without warning.

Brushing passed Mat and standing in front of the Morellian with one foot on the step, he waited for the two Sith Knights to finish their descent down the stairs. "Or you could, y'know, fight someone who's got a better chance of kicking your ass." he quipped just as they came into sight, the Sith Knights' eyes widened as they caught a glimpse of the Kiffar alongside the tall and broad specimen that was Mathieu. It was fleeting but Cas and Mathieu would be able to sense a hint of fear inside the two Sith Knights before quickly changing to bloodlust. The Sith Knights ignited their crimson blades with a harsh hiss before twirling their lightsabers and entering a Juyo stance "I've always wanted to kill a Jedi." the Sith Knight said coldly. Twirling his own lightsaber, meeting their stances with his Ataru one he responded "Today won't be the day. Sorry." Cas quipped in retaliation as he charged toward one of the Sith Knights.

It was good that they had talked about what to do in the case of encountering Sith - for when the two threats descended from the stairs, Cassie managed to send them away to hide, removing an obvious target from the fight scene. If they had remained, it was rather obvious that they could have become a significant weakness for the two Jedi. The alien resting on his back was, of course, also a target - but this one was firmly attached and wouldn't be moving about mid-fight.

It was satisfying to hear the Knight quip at their foes - they wanted to do evil onto the defenceless but now they had to contend with Jedi instead. Mathieu had expected that he would need to charge at the two Sith immediately in order to prevent them from calling in support or even alerting the rest of the base. But it seemed like their overconfidence was chronic, for they rushed straight into battle.

Being a practitioner of Soresu, the Padawan would have preferred to let the Sith come down to them - but Cassie who was an Ataru practitioner had something very different in mind. Letting his friend charge in against the two Sith Knights alone was not an option and with that in mind, Mathieu joined in on the charge. The foe whom he was facing swung his sabre over his head and had it crashing down at the incoming Padawan. With a simple move, the light sider pulled out his own lightsabre and ignited it horizontally above him to block the slash.

Meanwhile, the one facing Cassie employed a different strategy. With a slight bend to his knees, he thrust his bald forwards, aiming to stab the Kiffar Jedi in the head. It was a clever move, for he was maximising his reach and height advantage to produce a deadly attack. The opponent's experienced showed as he would be quick to then return from his thrust with enough flexibility to keep the momentum and swing his blade upwards to defend against an acrobatic attack if needed.

Mathieu's blue blade was locked with the red one of his foe. The Padawan, still affected by the stim he applied earlier kept pushing. He enjoyed seeing the surprised face of his opponent as the dark sider kept being pushed back through the room until his back touched against a wall. Mathieu had a decisive advantage "Do you see it? The dark side won't help you." he said as their locked blades started to come dangerously close to the Sith's shoulder.

But then, the foe proved why they were a Sith Knight. Through quick footwork, he managed to dodge away. Mathieu's blade suddenly had nothing resisting it coming forth and swung into the stone wall against which the Sith had stood, but he maintained his momentum and swung his blue blade after his foe but it was a clear miss.

As he rushed towards the two Sith, in unison the two Knights rotated their hips and swung their lightsabers in the direction of Cas' head - swiftly, he ducked and met blocked their lightsabers from meeting his neck with the tip of his yellow blade. Passing through gap between them, the Jedi Knight threw his leg back and kicked the back of one of the Knights, sending them in Mathieu's direction before focusing on the other Knight.

Cas responded to the Sith's deadly attack by air cartwheeling out of the way of the strike "Oh! Not quite there yet, huh?" the Knight mocked. Landing on his feet gracefully, he kept his own momentum and immediately somersaulted over the Sith Knight while swinging his lightsaber down to attack. However, the Sith Knight prepared for this and met his attack with an upward swing, protecting himself from Cas' advances. Landing in a crouched position behind him, the Kiffar spun his body around and quickly raised the amber lightsaber, blocking a powerful downward strike from the Sith Knight and subsequently locking their blades together. "I gotta ask... is this your first fight? You seem really nervous. It's okay though, I can guide you through it." the Jedi continued to tease prompting the Sith's lips to curl and growl in frustration.

Breaking away from the blade lock, the Sith raised his lightsaber once more in preparation to strike down viciously at Cas but the Kiffar simply rolled backward and avoided the attack before standing up and darting toward him, swinging his lightsaber horizontally aiming for the Sith's hips "Was it something I said?!" he quipped with a smirk. Cas would need to be careful, through his humour and instinctive to annoy those he faced it made him, subconsciously, a Dun Möch practitioner and in regard to using it against a Sith, it had the potential to backfire with his taunts serving as a way to empower the Sith with rage instead of causing doubt.

Meanwhile, the Sith Mat was currently facing was swift and agile - similar to Cas. Luckily for Mathieu, his regular sparring with Cas prepared him for this. As the Sith Knight dodged Mathieu's attack, they quickly rolled behind the broad Morellian and swung their crimson blade in the direction of Mat's ankles - if the Padawan blocked, or countered, they would swiftly pull back their blade and thrust their free arm forward, using the Force to shove Mat into the wall in front of him.

Mathieu had fought against Cassie multiple times - he knew what someone who was on the more quick and nimble end of the scale could do - and this was not even a practitioner of Ataru - at least that's what his lightsabre form revealed. The Sith Knight was most certainly a ruthless one, because he decided to roll in past the Padawan to appear behind him. In this case, the ruthlessness worked in the dark sider's favour since Mathieu was completely taken by surprise. There was one reasonable response to it, so he reached back with his leg in a kick - but it was too slow and only connected with the hip of his foe. Still, it would be enough to make the Sith fall out of his roll and to the side instead.

Mathieu capitalised on the advantage he gained and swung his blade at the now downed foe. But once more, the Sith proved how slippery he was and managed to roll away in the last second, getting back up to his feet at a record speed to swing his crimson blade at Mathieu's ankles. The Padawan was prepared for that attack but did not expect the force push that followed, causing him to stumble back into the wall with way too much force for comfort. Fortunately, he managed to turn a little in order to not squash the Chadra Fan on his back. His armour had taken most of the hit, but he still let out a small grunt.

To his surprise, the foe did not relent and kept Mathieu against the wall with a strong telekinetic grip. But it was a constant struggle - for if Mathieu stopped resisting, he knew that his weight and the pressure exerted from the force push would be enough to kill the alien riding his back. Walking closer, he spoke back at the Morellian "Do you see it? The light side won't help you. Only the dark side will give you the strength needed to defeat me" Mathieu let out another grunt as he gave it his all, desperately trying to escape the strong grip that held his side against the wall.

Meanwhile, the other Sith had just directed a downward swing which the Kiffar Knight rolled away from. This meant that the Sith Knight's blade was still centrally positioned between them. By swinging his blade outwards, the dark sider could intercept Cassie's horizontal swing and with his sabre on the inside, the foe rushed forth to the opposite side of where the Jedi had swinged. The attack was obvious and telegraphed - unless interrupted, he would disengage the blade lock and swing at the lightsider's torso from an angle that made it tricky to defend with the yellow blade.

Mathieu, still trying to figure out how to get away from his current situation reached out through the force - not to distract or hurt his foe, but rather to bolster his own defences. Slowly but surely, he was starting to regain control so that he could fight once more.

The Sith Knight intercepted Cas' horizontal attack before quickly darting toward the Jedi Knight's exposed side. Enhancing his capabilities through the Force and coupling that with the speed granted to him by the FF-CAR1, adjusting his footwork to create a bit of distance and give him more time to react as well, Cas pulled his lightsaber back with unnatural speed to try and meet his adversary's blade creating a spark as the amber and crimson blades collided.

With his organic arm, the Jedi Knight released his grip from his lightsaber's hilt and threw it in the Sith's direction to push him away with a gust of telekentic energy. His adversary was thrown off of his feet a few metres before his back met the floor, Cas began a dart toward him before kicking off into a leap, raising his lightsaber over his head while in mid-air. "You almost had me there, not gonna lie. Should I start bringing my A-game now?" Cas continued to quip, bringing his lightsaber down fast as he descended closer to the Sith.

The Sith easily raised his blade to block Cas' attack though, as their blades connected once more the Kiffar Knight used the strength in his arms to push his himself off and away from the Sith Knight, transitioning into a forward somersault over him and landing behind him. "Do you ever SHUT UP!" the Sith raged, spinning himself and his lightsaber around trying to cut at Cas' feet although he simply flipped backward and avoided it "Not when I'm awake!" landing on his feet. The two met each other once more, sending a flurry of attacks at one another, moving like the wind.

Cas could sense the Sith's resolve faltering, his insults and teasing was indeed working. Smirking, their duel intensified with Cas hammering through the Sith's defences, he continued to talk his way through the fight "Maybe when this is finished we can go out and grab some lunch or something?" he jokingly asked between strikes "Or, y'know, I can give you some pointers on your terrible form." Cas continued with a calm but mocking tone "You don't know this but I'm quite the accomplished duellist."

"SHUT. YOUR. MOUTH!" The Sith yelled at the top of his lungs before breaking away and going in for another attack, he was growing reckless and desperate. So much so that Cas managed to spot a weakness and exploit it. The Sith's footwork was off, he lifted one foot off of the ground as he tried to perform a powerful overhead strike but the Jedi Knight quickly swept the Sith's only leg planted on the ground, tripping him backward. Falling onto his back, he dropped his lightsaber which Cas quickly summoned into his right hand with the Force and activated before forming an X shape with both blades, positioning them in-between his defeated adversary's neck.

"You Sith and your emotional outbursts." the Kiffar quipped, smirking at him.

A small hint of fear and frustration could be seen in the Sith's eyes as he was starting to loose control of the large Morellian. Mathieu had trained on his force barrier and had become better at defending himself since the first time he dueled against Cassie. In contrast to the eyes of his foe, the Padawan was growing bolder, for he was feeling how he was slowly but surely forcing his way through the attack. Soon, he managed to take his first step, and then a second one - it was a struggle, for the Sith still did his best to keep the Jedi still - but it was happening. Mathieu was breaking free.

With his sabre in front of him, the former Mercenary pushed forth and neared his foe with determination. Soon, he felt the grip around him release completely, but instead, he immediately had to contend with three quick slashes. His Soresu defence was well trained - he knew it well and it showed. Still, the person whom he was facing was a Sith Knight and that meant that he would have to be careful, for while his defence was solid, the attacks were nothing to scoff at either. Still, he would live as they passed each other by. Swinging himself and his sabre 180 degrees, Mathieu quickly turned around in a powerful counter attack. The Sith raised his sword to block it but with the immense power which the Padawan could produce in his strength, the block simply bought the foe some time to back away.

What ensued was a most peculiar fight - for Mathieu kept pushing closer to the enemy but it was the dark sider who was making most of the attacks. It was a duel of offence versus defence where the person doing the defending also happened to be pushing. The frequency at which their blades clashed was increasing as the fighting intensified. Eventually, the Sith started to realise that he was running out of space to back into - it was a bad sign as it made him even more focused and allowed his rage and frustrations to push him even further. With a sudden burst of speed, he launched an attack far to the side and when the blade was intercepted, the Sith exploited the opening to throw an elbow into Mathieu's chest. Reinforced by his Ashla's Guard, the Padawan shrugged off the attack whilst throwing his own arm towards the foe and fortunately managing to take hold of the Sith's wrist.

A victorious spark could be seen in the large Morellian's eye as his vice-like grip tightened into an excruciatingly painful hold that he soon reinforced by a twist that forced his foe to bow down. With their blades still locked to the side, Mathieu let out a short "Drop it" It was at that moment that he saw what Cassie was doing and the rather menacing position that he had assumed. Freezing for a moment as the Sith dropped his now extinguished lightsabre, he eventually returned to the present looked over to his friend "Cassie?" he asked with an innocent tone touched by a slight sense of confusion. What was the guy doing?

As the lightsabers hovered, crossed over the Sith's face, Cas simply stared into his adversary's harsh ember-like eyes which burned hot with disdain and hatred. As the Knight's chestnut eyes scanned the Sith over, Cas, for a moment, contemplated ending the Dark siders life - what use did he have? He was a monster, he served a terrible and destructive Order, Cas wondered if he'd be doing the galaxy a favor by ridding it of him. Then Mathieu called out to Cas and sense returned to him, it wasn't the Jedi Way to kill an unnarmed opponent, nor was it his way.

Extinguishing both blades, the Kiffar pulled his leg back before thrusting the sole of his boot into his defeated opponent's face. The Sith slumped backward onto the floor, unconscious."Matty, what's up?" Cas responded with intended aloofness, knowing exactly what Mat had called him out for. With the Sith's lightsaber still in hand, Cas hovered the hilt of the blade into the air before igniting his own lightsaber and cutting through the Sith's hilt - destroying it.

"How's your backpack doing?" the Knight quipped before turning toward the direction of where Zena and Rix went to hide. The siblings promptly emerged from a wide pillar, their youthful eyes darted between the unconscious Sith Cas had defeated and the other Mathieu had made submit. "It's over?" Zena asked, smiling warmly Cas nodded at them and extungishied his blade. Placing the hilt on his belt, the Jedi Knight reached out to the kids and gestured for them to approach him, with a smile, the siblings complied and wandered over to Cas.

Assuming their original positions, Cas lifted Rix onto his back and held Zena's hand with his free one. Turning over to face Mathieu, he grinned "Shall we go?"

A small breath - perhaps with a hint of relief - escaped the large Morellian as he saw his friend extinguish his blade. Mathieu's natural sense of enthusiasm seemed to be recovering fast as the battle ended with eyebrows raised high and eyes shining bright. "That was a pretty intimidating pose you had there. Looked like something out of a holo-movie" he said, keeping a friendly tone before looking down to his own foe. Eyeing the one Cassie had just knocked out, the Padawan followed suit with a well aimed punch. Instead of destroying his opponent's lightsabre, however, he decided to keep it, figuring that something might be learned from it. Otherwise, he could always destroy it later.

Glancing back at the Chadra-Fan, still unconscious, he let out an awkward but still mainly hopeful "Good! ... I think. I mean, he ain't complaining." It was hard to tell and Mathieu was far from a medical expert but from what he did know from the field, the little alien should be fine - but then, he had rarely ever seen a Chadra-Fan on the frontlines which meant that it was hard to tell. Looking over to the siblings while extinguishing his own blade, Mathieu did what had to be done before they moved on, letting Cassie answer her question. "Good instinct" he said, thinking out loud rather than addressing anyone in particular. "Didn't ask if it was over until it was actually over - but didn't wait around much before asking either"

"Let's" he said, moving to the doorway the two Sith seemed to have been guarding. Slowly letting it slide open, it soon became apparent that the underground prison complex which they had just been in lead into the main hall - but now, they were well past the more heavily guarded primary entrance and highly stacked crates were there to keep them hidden from sight. Moving in, the Padawan crouched down behind a wide arrangement of crates, choosing not to employ any stealth techniques other than ones to hide his force presence - hiding from sight would be hard with his new 'backpack' and the kids. Determining that they could probably whisper, he turned to his friend "Better hope they don't pay much attention to the exact location of these ones." he said, looking to their new team members in Zena and Rix.

Continuing along the line of crates, he kept his senses at full alert, making sure to take a path as far away from the dark siders as possible. Soon, the group was practically forced to stop as they ended up behind a set of lower crates, apparently containing stolen edible supplies from the village. What forced them to stop was the approach of two foes, both speaking of finding something to eat. Mathieu looked around, finding a closed door behind them with an open primitive Yavin ventilation shaft. Another way to continue would be to continue to move along the crates - but that was for a later time - for now, what was the most important was to not get noticed as the dark siders would soon be but a couple meters away from them.

Cadere Cadere

Cas met Mathieu's gaze with a puzzled glance, eventually evolving into a playful smirk "Might wanna check to see if he's still breathing at some point." he jested. Cas glanced up at Mathieu following his next comment, folding his arms the Kiffar then lowered his gaze to the two kids "Must be the Force." it was an educated guess but Mathieu pointing out their "good instincts" was probably a no-brainer.

The Knight allowed the Padawan to lead once more, following close behind he kept guard and stayed alert as Mathieu worked on the door. His presence within the Force remained incognito although he drew concern at the fact that the kids' presence in the Force would be noticed at some point. Cas kept alert as well as Mathieu while they navigated their way through the area to avoid the Dark siders. "Wouldn't chance it." he whispered back to Mathieu, taking cover by one of the crates that held the settlers' supplies.

"Hold on... do you feel that?" unsurprisingly, the children were unable to hide their presence within the Force and were quickly detected by these Dark siders. Hearing footsteps, Cas motioned for Mathieu to take cover as he and the kids did so as well. Thinking quickly on his feet, the Force's energy entwined with him and its currents flowed through his body like static. Cas' eyes darted to a formation of crates located behind the approaching Sith, and with the Force gave the crates a "nudge" which, in turn, created a groaning scraping sound as they moved across the floor. While he couldn't see, he heard the footsteps stop for a moment before starting back up again, although instead of getting louder they faded. Implying they were going to investigate the crates. That should buy them enough time.

Glancing over to Mathieu with a knowing look, he nodded at him before carefully moving to the closed door positioned behind them. Stopping in front of it, Cas waved his hand and unlocked the door with the manipulation of its locks through the Force. With that, he entered inside and expected Mathieu to follow before closing the door behind him. Releasing Zena's hand and letting down Rix, he proposed an idea to Mathieu "I say we engage them. With the kids about, their signatures will draw unwanted attention. For now we leave the kids here and go back out there and take out those Sithies as fast as possible." regardless, he was going to do it anyway with or without Mathieu's help. This sneaking around was beginning to get on his nerves. Remaining focused on hiding his presence within the Force, Cas opened the door and motioned for the kids to remain inside before exiting.

Stealthily, he hid behind the nearest crate which was... maybe two crates away from the supplies. However, the Sith were still searching the area for Zena and Rix whom they could still feel. Biding his time, he waited until their backs were turned before making his move and closing the distance quietly and hidden through the crates. When close enough, assuming Mathieu was with him, Cas would lunge behind one of the Sith and wrap his arms around their neck and head. Entering a sleeper hold "You've been working too hard. Sleep on it." with his cybernetic arm, Cas increased the pressure until he felt the Sith go limp. Following that, he'd lower the Sith to the ground quietly "Should make getting through here easier now, right?"

Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion

For the time being, Mathieu stayed low. He was not always the wittiest and his friend seemed to have an idea as to how to get out from their current situation. Then he heard the scraping sound from the crates a bit farther away. Immediately, the large Padawan realised what his friend was doing and threw him a knowing smirk as they waited for the incoming Sith to react. Just as Cassie - presumably - had predicted, the Darksider walked away, giving the group a small opportunity to make their escape.

When they arrived in the secluded room, however, Cassie's and Mathieu's opinions differed. While the Knight wanted to go in and deal with the Sith, the Padawan hoped to avoid it. They had just been in the main entrance hall - it was a large chamber and the same one that they had spotted multiple hostiles in when they were approaching the old building from the outside. It would most definitely help them - to have the two guards closest to them taken out, seeing as they might already be a little suspicious from the odd force signatures and the scraping of the crates. But it was risky. There was a possibility that they would be discovered during the action, and there was a risk that the other Sith in the main entrance hall would notice that their colleagues were gone and along with the two guards checking on the prison cells who were also knocked out, it would only add to the mystery of it all. In the end, Mathieu thought about the suggestion for just a little too long as Cassie soon started moving. The large Morellian quickly sent out an arm towards his friend but by the time it arrived at his shoulder, it was already too late. The door had opened and they were committed to the plan.

"You're lucky I trust you as much as I do" he thought as they sneakily approached the two closest guards. Employing his rather advanced stealth techniques, at least for a Padawan, Mathieu was quick on the approach and kept a close eye on his friend. When the Kiffar pounced on his target, Mathieu did the same to his. It was a well synchronised attack, giving the two Sith little chance to warn their allies. As soon as Mathieu's target was sleeping, he quickly threw the man over his shoulder - making for a cramped trip for the unconscious Chadra-Fan on his back. But it was necessary, for they couldn't allow the bodies to lay around in the area and this was, by far, the fastest way to get it out without making any noise. Moving quickly, Mathieu brought the Sith into the same room that they had left the children in. After gently dumping him on the floor, he quickly turned around and moved to Cassie to check if any help was needed in bringing the other Sith into the room too.

Once everyone was in, Zena closed the door behind them. Mathieu sent her a friendly nod of approval before turning to the Knight "I sure hope so" he said with a relieved tone "Don't ever let someone tell you that you are not bold." he said half-jokingly before turning to have a look at the room they were in. Slightly larger in size, it housed what looked like a fixed power generator - the machine was much newer than the rest of the building and most of its interior decor. "We could make this place pretty dark if we wanted to" he said, observing the main control panel "But that would throw any hopes we have of keeping them in the dark as to our presence" Mathieu threw a glance over at the two children before looking over to Cassie. His wide shoulders fell a little as he let out a sigh, it was barely audible "But if they figure out that a few of their friends are missing and that the kids are on the run, it might be better for us to take the initiative now. We'd have to move quickly though." he said, putting both hands on the control panel while waiting to see what his friend thought about it.
