Trouble on Makeb Chapter I [PM for Info/Invite]

Trouble on Makeb
Chapter I
Pawns of Ambition
**
Villa de House Kalyera
Noble District, Talaos City
Makeb

Aera sat on one of the silk threaded highly expensive sofas in the lobby of the home of House Kalyera of Makeb. Tapping the floor impatiently as she waited for the others that she had recruited through the Holonet for this job. The Mandalorian was in dire need of gathering credits for her clan that was on the edge of going negative on their budget. The more time she spent not getting credits, the worse it would become.

Dressed simply in her usual attire of a gray tank top with an embroidered mythosaur skull on the back of it and cargo pants with a mucky khaki color that went straight into her leather-made grav boots, the woman had impressed one of the House's members with higher authority - Lord Judaforr Kalyera - to hire her and also give her the chance to recruit the rest of the team for this job rather than doing it himself.

The job was simple and it promised tons of credits which seemed to be of abundance to House Kalyera considering their wealthy lifestyle if one judged by their home and their clothes. A simple job of acting as additional security to the Lord of House Kalyera and Council Head of the ruling governing body of Makeb - the Makeb Business Council.

The Council Head - Lord Hareesh Kalyera - was to travel to the small city of Tarlam to negotiate a deal with local workforce unions and then commit to a legislative change...or something like that. Aera did not pay much attention to the whole information, she just knew that Hareesh had to be alive from point A. Talaos City to point B. Tarlam City.

Easy and lots of credits.

Was it money laundry ? Aera could not currently care less, easy job for lots of credits.

What could go wrong ?

LOCATION: TALAOS CITY, MAKEB
EQUIPMENT: IN BIO
CURRENT MOOD: LIGHT-HEARTED

Makeb was a rather strange planet. The place was a water world, which was colonized long ago by wealthy merchants. Since then, the planet had flourished as a trading center, quickly becoming a popular place for the rich to relax. Ghorua was surprised, to say the least, when he was called there on work. The Herglic had figured he wouldn't be able to afford to stay in such a place until much further in his career. To be fair, he was beginning to make a name for himself in the galaxy; a tremendous brute that could sneak up on his quarry without a hint of warning, a shark lurking beneath the waves. That's what the Holonews titles said, anyways.

Makeb had slightly less gravity than an average planet, so the Shark found his movements a tad easier as he walked up the shining steps of Villa de House Kalyera. He had done a little research on the House, and didn't come up with much out of the ordinary. Just your typical rich snobs, who'll throw around obscene amounts of credits at their convenience; Ghorua's favorite kind of people.

The 10'5'' colossus, plated in his Koodan-class battle armor, plodded up to a servant outside the main doors, helmet leaned casually under his armpit. The Herglic held out a black business card, and spoke, his voice deep and silky. "Ghorua the Shark, mercenary extraordinaire. Am I correct in assuming I'm expected?" A thin smirk parted Ghorua's dark face as the staff member nodded furiously, and gestured for the Bounty Hunter to go in. Ghorua thanked the man as he opened the large lobby doors, and walked in.

The Shark's pitch-black eyes surveyed the lobby, finally resting on the woman lounging on a posh couch. A cursory glance noted a few things about her. The woman had defined muscles, and didn't wear the fineries of a House Kalyera, so it was safe to assume she wasn't the employer. The second thing he saw was the grav-boots, definitely not royalty material. Letting a wide smile grace his features, he walked to [member="Aera Varad"], each step creating a dull thud on the floor. He stopped short of the sofa, taking in her features, and reaching out one massive hand to shake.

"Hey," he said, mirth oozing from his voice, "I'm the Shark. I'm guessing you're the Mando that contacted me? A pleasure to work with you."

On closer inspection of Ghorua's smile, one might notice the minty freshness of his breath, or perhaps the rows of razor-sharp teeth. It all depended on how hard one looked.

Dredelt was in his ship resting when he received a transmission from House Kalyera, they were requesting his presence for some kind of business operations (he did not pay close attention to the message to be fair). Although Dredelt's businesses with this house and Makeb in overall were each day less common, he decided to head to the Villa, after all, credits are always welcomed.

Once he arrived and landed, he started to head towards the Villa, creating in his mind all kind of possibles job that could fit in his position... "Maybe... maybe it is a great artifact that they don't want... no, that is too unrealistic coming from these people. Perhaps it is a shipment of ore with a succulent payment... or they want to buy something." He continued to make scenarios while walking towards the entrance.

When he arrived at the entrance, he salute the guards with a slight movement of his head. "Hello, I am Dredelt Wesser, the House has requested my presence... may I..." The guard interrupted his talking with a gesture of *Go ahead* while the gate was opening. "Thanks!" He replied and entered while thinking how rude where these guards becoming.

Dredelt was looking at every part of the room, to him it seems changed since the last time he was there, but he could not said that for sure. While his vision was hunting the differences in the room, he spotted [member='Aera Varad'] sitting on a sofa and [member='Ghorua the Shark'] next to her. Dredelt stood firmly next to the wall opposite to the sofa in which they were and greet them waiving his hand and with a short "Hi." After a second he realized that the Lord did not want to kill him by hiring those two, so he added: "Ahm... You two seem like persons that need good equipment, if you are interested I have a few things on sale that would be great for you! By the way, I am Dredelt Wesser." He ended the sentence with a smile.

Joran Del-Finn

Smuggler by day. Snuggler by night.
Joran Del-Finn, bounty hunter, smuggler and former Mandalorian stumbled into the lobby from one the servent entrances, dressed in the appropiate attire for such a place. He was decked out in black from head to heel. His suit jack, the vest he wore underneath, and the shirt he wore underneath that were all made from the finest silk to come from the Hapan Clusture, as were his pants. his belt and shoes were made from ronto leather not something common like bantha and smelling of spices, rum and the perfume of a certain kitchen worker with dark red hair, pale skin and freckles.

Once Joran realized he was not the first to arrive, it didn't take him long to figure out he was clearly the best dressed, even with a tear in his shirt from the kitchen girl. Speaking of pretty girls Joran did not fail to notice the one on the couch nor did he fail to notice the enourmous monstrocity that towered over even him. at six and a half feet tall and being close to three-hundred pounds, Joran was very often the largest man in any given room but in the presence of this beast Joran was almost puny. Joran would make sure to only get on that ones bad side, if he had a blaster in his hand.

Walking around the giant fish Joran dropped onto the couch in the seat next to Aera. Having missed introductions Joran had no idea the names of anyone there but he was not in the least bit concerned about who the other two were.

"Joran Del-Finn." He says to Aera in his most charming voice. "you here for the job too, Love?"

When the large lobby doors opened to reveal the massive figure of one of the other employees that she contacted for this job, that was when Aera realized actually how huge the Shark actually was. A notorious Herglic mercenary known throughout the galaxy in the places where mercenaries and credit chip seekers were employed. Not only that but he was donned in a black armor that seemed to cover every part of his body while a mouthful of sharp teeth greeted her with a smile. He might as well try to chew steel with them.

"Aera. Aera Varad. Nice to meet you, Shark." She nodded politely with a smirk as she hopped up from her cushion.

Before she could open up a conversation with the Herglic, a black haired man entered the lobby area and immediately dashed into offering goods to both mercenaries. The woman raised an eyebrow and slightly shook her head in a manner of 'no, thank you.' Once again, she was about to speak when the doors once again opened to reveal a large human, probably of the largest humans she had seen during her lifetime.

Joran Del-Finn. A bounty hunter that a contact of hers had alerted her that he was interested in this job. Well, what was bad with doing an easy job for a lot of credits.

His attitude seemed to incline towards flirting to which the Mandalorian woman simply smirked and replied:

"Him too." She pointed at the massive behemoth next to her and then abruptly the doors to inside opened revealing a tall and slender figure dressed in purple silk clothes that implied his royal status. Lots of jewelry could be found upon him, even without one focusing on looking at it. "And this is our employer. Lord Judaforr Kalyera."

"Mhm, indeed." The Lord nodded to those arrived and then continued calmly. "You all should know what you are hired for. Aera should've already told you, I assume. Moreover-. Dredelt ? You're here ? You were supposed to be on the ship already...Eitherways, you will then join this fine group of gentlemen and a lady towards the ship where you will accompany Lord Hareesh for his negotiations with the workers' unions."

The Lord paused for a second to take a breath.

"Dock 131. Go now."

Dock 131, Talaos City Spaceport
Makeb

The entourage was at the final stage of boarding the equipment and supplies that were to accompany Lord Hareesh and his retinue to Tarlam City. As far as Aera knew, he would be staying there for a week, maybe more. All depended on the negotiations. She did not care much, as well. Her job ended at Tarlam City. She didn't even ask the question why. Clan Varad was in dire need of credits, she couldn't be bothered to ask this question.

While the three mercenaries and the advisor were boarding up the ram carrying their own luggage, which considering the job would typically not be as much. Aera simply had simply brought her two .48 enforcer pistols, the portable Dinu'ul shield on her wrist and her tomahawk Akaa'gai. Her backpack carried vital supplies that she always carried but not as much as she would when she would go on a solo adventure. The lightweight of it felt good.

"Easy job, lots of chips, right ?" She inquired about the other men's motives to take up this job and also attempted to start up a conversation. Something that she would usually rarely do.

Ghorua gave the Mando a warm-hearted smile, and nodded. "Of course, Miss Varad. Looking forward to working with the team." He glanced around the room a second time, and sniffed deeply. He smelled the others approaching before he saw them, thanks to his modified genetics. He turned his head quickly as [member="Dredelt Wesser"] entered, seemingly spooked by the two mercenaries. Naturally, he did what any good businessman would to when they're terrified; try to sell their wares. Ghorua laughed audibly at the little man. "I don't suppose you've got anything in my size."

The Herglic turned again, just before [member="Joran Del-Finn"] walked in. The other hunter was very large, so large that Ghorua first figured he was Valkyri, or part Valkyri. Of course, he was still rather puny compared to Ghorua, but for a human, he was enormous. Joran seemed to breeze past the Shark, headed for [member="Aera Varad"].

Ghorua exhaled through his blowhole, sighing deeply. It was slightly unprofessional to only greet one member of the team, but who could blame him? The Shark couldn't deny Aera was the prettier between the two of them. He was about to say something when he caught the scent of yet another person entering.

Lord Judaforr Kalyera. Ghorua had studied his face on the Holonet, so he could identify the employer on sight. Aera mentioned the name out loud, confirming the Shark's suspicions. He echoed what Ghorua had already been made aware of; The group was escorting a target. Before he was a Bounty Hunter, Ghorua had worked as a bodyguard, so the job wasn't far from his comfort zone. He looked to his fellow hunters, a thin smile parting his face. "Well then, shall we?" He gestured grandly towards the door.

- LATER -

Ghorua the Shark crossed his arms over his chest as the last of the equipment was loaded. A cool breeze drifted through Dock 131, and the jingling sounds of the Herglic's equipment could be heard. Blasters of all shapes and sizes dotted his armor, as well as a few other gadgets. The Shark had learned through experience that seemingly easy jobs were rarely that, and he wouldn't be pulling any punches. That meant bringing every tool in his arsenal, if only to make him appear more impressive to the employer.

A low growling could be heard between Ghorua's thick legs. Bones, Ghorua's pet Massiff, gnawed on a toy the Hunter had bought for her a while ago. The small rubber object was shaped like a rancor, and looked quite adorable in the repto-mammal's jaws. Ghorua crouched down, and tousled the spines on Bones' back, receiving a playful bark in return.

The Herglic looked up as Aera spoke, simultaneously scratching the Massiff's belly as he answered. "Yeah, you'd think so. But, if these moneybags are willing to hire a group of expensive, trained killing machines, there's probably a catch. And that's fine. Makes our jobs more interesting." The duraplast-plated colossus offered a small grin, and went back to entertaining the animal at his feet.

Dredelt putted a "thinking" face after the assumption of Ghorua and replied: "Hmm... not now, but I can find anything! If you give me some time I'll have the best quality items just for you, sir!" After saying that, a third man entered the room, Dredelt just nodded as a way of greeting. Once he greeted him, Dredelt started to think where could he find gear that fit on Ghorua.

When Lord Judaforr entered the room, Dredelt came out of his "trance" and stood firmly while the noblemen said the instructions to him, he just nodded. He did not want to speak in case he showed the Lord that he has not paid much attention to the message he received. Dredelt was the first to leave the room and head to the dock, as soon as he could get away from Lord Judaforr, the better.

Once on the docks, he stood next to the ship and checked with attention the message that the House sent him hour ago. Almost at the end of the recording the rest of the team arrived and he entered the ship, sat as far as he could from Ghorua and Joran, and said: "Well, let's make this deal with the unions the most beneficial deal ever made."

Dredelt only carried with him one of his DL-18 Blaster Pistols, 5 power packs for the blaster, 1 medpack and 32 credits. He was thinking that House Kalyera will be providing anything else the team needed.

Inside the ship, when everybody was ready for take off, Aera asked an obvious question... "Indeed, most of the time negotiations of this nature go smoothly and as soon as we have the deal sealed, we will gain great profit. By the way, my name is Dredelt Wesser, merchant, pilot, businessmen-" He was going to said more, but them he realized he was being egocentric. "-nice to meet you all. We will be very safe with you three in here." Dredelt was flattering them, suddenly he added: "Are you sure that you don't need anything? I can give you all 10% of discount in all of my stock!" He insisted. "Also, I think I already know the armor that will fit perfectly on you!" He said looking at Ghorua.

Joran Del-Finn

Smuggler by day. Snuggler by night.
"Lovely for him." Joran said without so much as a glance at the herglic. Joran's mouth had opened to continue wooing the young lady when the doors to the lobby were thrown open revealing a man who had to be their employer, a fact cooberated by Aera.

A tall man, slender and draped in silks that were by Joran's estimation not quite as fine as the ones he wore but were top of the line for a planet like this. Lord Judaforr was an older gentleman whose hair had for the most part gone grey save his neatly trimmed goatee which was midnight black. The man stood like Royalty and spoke like royalty, he was curt and short and after no more than a minute of meeting the man they were dismissed.

By the time they reached the space port and started loading on to their transport Joran had changed out of his extremely dashing suit and and into more combat appropriate attire. Black steel-toed combat boots, long dark-grey cargo pants, a slightly darker-black tank top covered by a blaster and slug resistant vest, nothing special the same thing you would see law enforcement or smalled militaries use but their job wasn't one that required state of the art armor. Speaking of armor as they were all finding their places on the transport [member="Dredelt Wesser"] and [member="Ghorua the Shark"] were busy discussing personal protection while [member="Aera Varad"] asked their motivations for taking the job.

"I don't know about a lot, Love, but it's enough. Don't know about easy either but it seems simple." Joran answered Aera. a low growl caught Joran's attention and he turned his head to Ghorua and noticed the Massif laying on the floor of the ship chewing joyfully on a toy sitting between it's master's feet.

"Nice pet, Mate." Joran called over to the shark. "Where did you get it?"

Just as Joran had thrown his question out Dredelt introduced himself formally and offered a discount on his wares. Not that Joran saw any here on this ship. Joran may take the man up on his offer if what he sold was close to as good as he claimed. Joran had his Beskar on his ship, locked up and unused for the last decade plus. He had been meaning to refurbish, restore and update his armor for years but everytime he went to take it out he woke up the next morning hung over and not sure how he ended up where ever it was he awoken.

Joran cradled the rifle he had borrowed from one of the Kalyera house guards and spoke to Dredelt.

"I, Might take you up on that offer once we get done with this job."
