Trouble in the Belt (Mandos/Open)

[member="Jagen Wren"] [member="Eirlys Verd"] [member="Kiber Thaxton"]

Location: Junction Asteroids.

Space.

A location that was relatively free and fluid. Jack was at the helm of the Kessels Pride, with two passnegers in tow today. Fellow Mando'ade, with a resolve untested. their mission?

The Kyr'stad or Deathwatch had disabled much of the frontier warning probes and attacked Mandalore directly. Because of insurrection, betrayal and all other means the Mandalorians were relatively blind as to what was going down on their frontiers. Jack having proved himself at the Battle of Roche was tasked by the Naval forces to run a scouting patrol and repair the sensor beacons in the Junction region.

They had been flying for several hours, and then suddenly reverted to sub-light from hyperspace. Jack set his jaw in stone as they thumped and then busted into real space. The neural band is his Buc'ye activated, giving him thought control of the piloting.

Beside him, Dak his First mate from Dantooine. A scrawney but venerable kid. In the hold?

Wren and Eirlys. Two brand new Mando'ade.

"Alright folks, stand bye for scouting procedues. Fleet Com wants a repair on these beacons. Might get hairy."

Dak was beside him, at the gun controls and various systems.

"Alright kid, give us a scope scan, let's see what’s crawling around here!"

Kiber made his way into the cockpit and he looked over the crew. He was with Jack once more and could not turn him down when he was offered this job. As he sat down, his mind was racing with possibilities of what might happen, both good and bad. He pushed them away and focused on the here and now. So, he silently hoped that their scouting patrol would go off without any hitches.

“Can’t wait to get my hands on some probes. It will be good to do something mechanical with my hands...” the Mando said with a smile. “And what sort of scouting are we talking about then dude?” Kiber asked Jack, as he looked all over the weaponry that was securely holstered on various parts of his body. In the event the crew was attacked, the Mando would be ready for the situation.

Jack turned his head to face Kiber. He was overjoyed to have a veteran Mando'ade on board. Much more someone whom had served alongside his mother at Mandalore and elsewhere. Yes Kiber could be trusted, the others? They were about o undergo their first mission to test their mettle.

"We're talking frontier territory, likely Deathwatch scouts here as well. Mission? Repair the sensor beacons, scout and engage anyone non friendly then get back and upload the logs to Admiral Larraq. Any questions?"

Kiber could not tell, but Jacks eyebrows raised at the last statement. Even now they could be under the scopes of the enemy, so he was making the explanation brief and dry cut. Splitting attention between scopes, conversation and force sensing threats around them. And he had bad feeling about the belt.

Trouble was abound...

A statement had never been truer, they had been flying for several hours, and Wren had felt every single hyperspace and sub-light lurch of ship while trying to catch some sleep in the hold. He went from lying against a wall in an open area, where he was launched into the air after a "slight" maneuver, to a cramped corner behind a few crates where he could still feel the movements but was much more protected from another launch.

Wren was there because he wanted some field experience in combat and a Mandalorian named Jack Raxis was looking for initiates to take on this mission, he was somewhat excited at first but that soon led to dismay as he had sat down to take the previously mentioned nap, but as soon as the ship left hyperspace, he awoke with a groggy expression.

He stood up and grabbed the helmet of the borrowed set of Aliit'gam "Clan Skin" armor, which he would be wearing until he could forge his planned custom beskar'gam. He slid the helmet on and sealed it, making sure that the weapons he selected for the mission were still in their respective holsters 'M-25 Mandalorian River Gun, check. MT-14 Heavy Blaster Pistol, check. Fett Kal Trench Knife, check. Ready to go.' He thought to himself as he exited the hold and made his way to the cockpit.

JUNCTION ASTEROIDS

The Mandalorians.
They were her people no matter how much she had tried to hide from it. Several years of freelance mercenary work had seen Eirlys Verd disappear into the greater galaxy with little more then a whisper, it however had took little to bring her back. The recent events on Mandalore was enough to get her attention, terrorists, attacks and a dead Mandalore. It was just something that couldn’t be left to stand.

A small scouting party had been assembled, shadowy and quick to do several scans of the system in the search for anything that could be connected to these killers. A task that Eirlys had volunteered for quickly.
So far little had been spoken by the red-head, her mind purely on what laid ahead. However here and there she had given a smile or a nod. They were all Mando’a after all, family.

As the first probe buoy came into range Eirlys, like the rest on board got ready. She had yet to craft her Beskar’gam so one of the evac-suits was all that she was capable of wearing that had an air supply enough for her to be of some use. Fortunately she was a Mandalorian and that at least meant something if the going got tough.

The first sensor node was damaged badly. Jack could see wires and plating hanging off in the dim lighting of the void. There wasn't much out here except floating rocks, but he still had that nagging feeling. Someone must be watching, they must be close too.

"Dak get ready on those guns, I'm going to take her in-"

And it began. Before he could finish his sentence a rail gun fired somewhere from his left. Jack felt the hyper velocity round slam the side of the hull, passing the shields completely and putting a huge dent in the plating. The armor on the starboard side held as alarms and Klaxons blared. Jack let go of the yoke, eyes snapping shut.

The neural band in his Naval Aliit'Gam fired switching directly to thought control. Out of instinct he directed the vessel. Port thrusters fired under her, flipping her into a sidelong roll and then nose over tail to face the source of the threat. Or at least where he sensed it was coming form. His gut dropped, and the familiar tingle lit the way.

"What the hell was that!" Dak roared.

"Deathwatch.... no one else uses those, Dak scopes, crew standbye for assault, if it's a scouting base we gotta clear it.

"Got it, looks like some-kind of structural tunnel system built into the Asteroid. Damn Deathwatch laid a trap for us!"

"I figured. Fire Ion's, knock out whatever electronics they got!"

As blazing white beams stitched the distance Jacks eyes flew open and he grabbed the yoke with his durasteel clad hands. The Kessels Pride dove in right behind her volley. Fireworks of red green and blue sparked and exploded in small whirlwinds across the front of the asteroid.

"See anything?"

"Hangar twelve o clock and up six degrees."

"I see it, hold on to your Shebs! We're going in hot!"

The thrusters fired, the cabins various parts flew about as grav forces from the asteroid tossed the vessel. Jack gritted his teeth as he rode the Pride at blistering speed straight down a shaft where a ray shield had suddenly blinked from existence.

As Wren made his way up to the bridge, the ship suddenly shook as if something collided with it, alarms went off and filled his ears, drowning out his swear as everything started spinning in various degrees of insanity, sending Wren hurdling around, trying to reach for something to grab onto. When it was finally over Wren stood up and quickly went up to the bridge.

When he reached it he swore again as the thrusters fired and he was jettisoned back down from whence he came, it was going to be one of those days.

"Oh crap..." Kiber thought to himself, as the ship was thrown around violently and he went flying backwards into the cockpit door. He smacked into the heavy door with some force, and although he was wearing his helmet, it still caused considerable pain and a slight concussion.

He staggered onto his feet and tried to regain his bearings. The ship was still speeding and, from what he could see, heading for a hangar that was in the distance. The Mandalorian checked over his weapons - thankfully none had been damaged during his meeting with the door.

They were coming in much more hot than Jack expected. With all his might he seized the yoke and pulled back, neural band and manual controls working together as he slammed a series of pedals to the deck. There was a thumping sound and the repuslors kicked to life, Ion aftermaket jets fired and the Pride leveld out, touching down on the deck of a hangar somewhere i side the asteroid.

then he saw them. Dressed in old crusader armor and clutching their blasters.

Deathwatch.

"Standbye, we got company! Dak!"

"Aye skip, on it!"

Dak opened fire with the laser cannons, dropping them from the Prides belly and stitching the small hangar up. Explosions and smoke filled the small space with chaos and discord, cutting visibility down to hall. Jack rose from his seat and snatched his rucksack, slinging it in one move. Determined stride brought him to the ramp.

"Get ready, going in guns blazing folks. There's Deathwatch outside!"

The ramp hissed open, smoke filling the hold. Jack drew his DL-44 and stalked down it, firing as he went. More blaster bolts joined the fray. His Dinu'ul snapped to life, energy shield flaring into a circle to catch stray bolts intended for his armored chest. All hell was upon them...
