Private Trouble in Paradise

What do you get in the wake of a drunken Zabrak and Echani, idly browsing the HoloNet one night? Apparently winning a legit-not-bogus competition for an all expenses paid trip for two, to a vacation resort.

It had come about from their latest get together. Vaylin had travelled to Jorryn's place to simply hang out. No going out anywhere, nothing fancy, just a nice and simple date night at home, with a good deal of alcohol involved. At some point during that night they had been browsing the HoloNet, skipping through all the junk in search of something interesting. Somewhere along the way, they stumbled into one of the often typical bantha crap 'competitions' that were usually just a rip off.

Name the top grossing holonet pop artist of the year eight fifty-two.

It was something like that anyway. Vaylin couldn't quite remember the exact details, why they even bothered, nor who out of her and Jorryn had correctly answered it. What was known however, was that the Echani's Holonet account had a congratulatory mail in the inbox.

A few days later, the couple were arriving at their destination. It was a planet of mostly ocean, with numerous sized islands dotted all around the place. Some company or another had made it into a 'Vacation Planet'. With a wide variety of activities, the biggest being a cruise around all the main islands. For Jorryn and Vaylin however, their arrival point was at the expansive resort complex, highlighted by the towering hotel that resided in the middle.

The height of it could probably rival some of the tallest buildings on Bastion.

"And here I thought Tatooine could be bright..." Vaylin complained lightly, stretching her limbs after having been sat on a ship; then shuttle for several hours. The Zabrak was currently donned in a sun hat, the brim of which was honestly oversized. She couldn't understand why it was designed like that, but Jorryn had spotted it as a 'souvenir', and Vaylin wasn't one to often say no to her girlfriend. It sat on her head somewhat awkwardly, in account for the fact she had a set of horns on her head. Trying to correct it just made it tighter around them, and any further pressure would likely puncture the material.

As they walked into the lobby, Vaylin's holo-comm began to ring.

"Why don't you sign us in, while I take care of this call?" She gave Jorryn a light peck on the cheek, before stepping to the side. Waiting until the Echani was moving towards the lobby desk, Vaylin grabbed her comm and activated it. The image of one of her Kraujas Arana appeared before her.

"Olrun, report."

"Everything has been running smoothly in your absence. The other instructors have taken on your duties for the time being."

"Good, ensure it continues so. No further communication, unless it's an emergency."

"Of course, Elder Moirai."

Vaylin let out a small sigh, ending the call and glanced over at Jorryn. She knew her girlfriend wasn't particularly fond of Sithspawn. The Kraujas Arana were certainly not hard on the eyes compared to a majority of other Sith experiments. But it was more the fact they were former Echani refugees, taken as prisoners by the Sith Empire, that made the Zabrak wary. Jorryn had never voiced her displeasure, or even showed it, but Vaylin had a feeling it was there.

Despite her Inquisitorial status, Jorryn apparently had little inhibition when it came to possible spyware after a few dozen drinks on a getaway with her girl. The Echani didn't mind when Vaylin suggested it could be either one of them that answered it correctly, saving Jorryn from having to admit her love of turn of the half century pop music.

That knowledge would go with Jorr to her grave.

For now, she could just revel in the fact that it had somehow managed to with the pair a couple tickets to an all expenses paid trip. To a fairly nice resort at that. It was a bit difficult to get some extra time at work, but a quick message about her needing to "work closely" with a Sith Valkyrie was apparently all the assurance Saaraisash handler's needed.

"Well maybe you ought to learn how to wear that hat right, darling." The Echani took it upon herself to adjust the hat on her girlfriend, taking a bit longer than needed to appreciate the Zabrak's beautiful face. "Can't have a sun taking your attention away from me."

She swung back around to take Vaylin's arm as the pair walked into the lobby, a small nod as the girl walked off to take a call.

The hope that it was just a friend was small, both of their works often refused to understand what a vacation meant. The Echani had taken out a private holopad so those at the Inquisition wouldn't pester her. The Echani had hoped Vaylin would do the same, but when one is a Sith Lord it can't exactly be expected.

Turning back towards the front desk, it didn't take long for the unfortunately Quarren speaking desk man to get her the key card to their room. An expensively decorated hand reached out to call Vaylin back to her when the Zabrak was done with her call.

Vaylin Vaylin

Vaylin smiled at Jorryn as she returned to the Echani's side, fingers intertwined as she took the offered hand. "Last call, promise. Wanted to make sure everything was going smoothly without my absence." And this would be the furthest Vaylin had been in a long time. Sure, her time on the frontlines had taken her across the galaxy at times, but since her retirement she had been solely focused on her duties on Mygeeto. And even then, if she had to leave for something, it was usually still within Sith Space.

Right now she wouldn't be able to simply jump onto a ship, and be back to Mygeeto within a quick time.

"Come on, let's head up to our room."

They made the short walk over to the elevator, calling it and then stepping in once the doors were open. Vaylin adjusted her hat again, this time to ensure it wasn't constantly poking Jorryn as they stood within the enclosed space.

"I'm telling you, these were not designed with Zabrak in mind."

Once the elevator was underway, a small holographic display popped up at the side of the door. Displaying each floor as they moved up higher and higher through the building. A majority of the floors were rooms and suites, but it was broken up with every few floors, with one dedicated to a bar, a restaurant, recreational or event halls.

It had a bit of everything, and this was just the one main building.

Eventually, the elevator dinged to a stop and the doors opened. Before them was a single, extravagently decorated hallway leading to a door at the other side. The only other door was close by, leading to the very long stairway back down.

"If this is what the hallway looks like..." Vaylin grinned as they stepped out and made quick work walking towards the door.

"I'll just have to make sure you're too preoccupied to answer I guess." The joke hopefully helping both of their moods, the warmth of Vaylin's hand comforting the Echani.

The Silver-Haired Sith gladly followed the Zabrak, eyes taking in the scenery that led to the elevator. As much as Jorryn would have liked to say she'd be happy with anywhere considering the vacation was free, it made her way more excited that the place was actually nice. The gloominess of the Sith government buildings didn't quite compete with the colours of this building.

"Alright then, dear." A quick movement with her free hand stole the hat away from Vaylin, placing it upon her own head as she stared up to her girlfriend. "I'll keep it for now until we find one that can accompany those spikes of yours."

The Echani quickly piled into the room with her girlfriend, a quick peck on the cheek as she took in the beauty of the room. A window that covered the entire wall allowing them to stare out into the horizon, many amenities lining up the rest of the resort grounds. There was a little balcony where Jorr imagined the nights she could spend outside, lounging in the hammock.

Of course her mind was focused on one specific room right now.

"Hey babe, I'm just gonna go check out the bedroom." A devilish smirk coming across her lips as she slowly let go of the grasp she held Vaylin with. "It won't take long, I just need to check the... sturdiness."

The bed was massive, a gift box of assorted wines and delicacies on the foot of the bed. As much as Jorryn wanted to dive into that package immediately, she had a different mission right now. Moving the package aside Jorryn jumped onto the bed, resting her head on the side. The Echani hadn't been lying earlier when she said she'd keep the Zabrak's mind off work, much preferring the attention to remain on her.

"Babe, this won't work." Teeth bit into her lower lip to stifle a giggle, not tricking anyone with the serious voice she tried to use anyways. "I need you to come here to help me test it out."

The Zabrak chuckled at her girlfriend's antics, swiping the large hat from her head and placing upon her own. And Vaylin would openly admit that it looked much better on Jorryn anyway.

She let out a short, impressed whistle as they walked into the room. Vaylin wasn't ever one for outrageous luxury, never finding a desire for it. As long as the place was spacious enough and comfortable, she was content. But they had gone above and beyond for this room, clearly demonstrating just why the place cost so much.

Which yes, Vaylin had indeed looked into what the cost typically was. And to say the least, she was glad they had gotten it via winning the competition. The Zabrak wasn't exactly hurting in terms of her wealth, but the suite alone caused some eyebrows to raise, not to mention the entire trip itself.

Her thoughts were interrupted however when Jorryn declared her intentions. Vaylin glanced over at the Echani as the woman slipped away from her hold, walking away with that slight sway in movement. The Zabrak watched as she disappeared into a bedroom and rolled her eyes in amusement.

The more playful and teasing side of Jorryn was one Vaylin had not been expecting when she really got to know the Echani. Before they had started dating, Vaylin had always gotten the impression she was quite competitive, a good sport for a bit of sparring whenever she felt like testing her hand-to-hand combat. Which was all very much the same now, but there had been a good deal of opening up since then. And much could probably be said the same for Vaylin herself. From being very war-centric in her earlier years in the Sith Empire, to becoming a teacher or rather "stuck-up, strict and potentially sadistic" as a number of her students have concluded.

Looking around a bit, Vaylin didn't wait too long before she followed Jorryn and entered the bedroom. She saw the pose, heard the voice, and couldn't help but laugh lightly. Jorryn would never change, and nor Vaylin would want her to.

Not missing a beat, the Zabrak climbed onto the bed and fell into the Echani's embrace, kissing her.

A few hours passed, and after having their fun both Jorryn and Vaylin had opted to dine on the delicacies and some wine instead of ordering food. Deciding to just relax for tonight, and go in for a feast for breakfast tomorrow. Night had finally fallen over the resort, and Vaylin had proposed they watch the stars. Something the Zabrak hadn't experienced in years, mainly due to the fact the constant storms on Mygeeto obscured such sights.

Vaylin was sitting on the balcony, back against the wall and with no concern for her apparent safety. After all, it wasn't like she was a powerful Force user who could just Force Jump her way back up if she somehow fell from her perch...

What did concern her though, was something she had caught sight of. Not at all clear, but Vaylin could see something happening far below. Smaller vessels skimmed over the water as they docked along one of the nearby beaches. Individuals disembarking, then gathering together before they made a slow approach towards the resort itself.

"Uh, Jorr? You might want to take a look at this." Vaylin spoke quietly, glancing over to where Jorryn was currently resting in the hammock.

Jorryn was lounging pleasantly in the hammock on the corner, gently swaying from side to side resting as she asked Vaylin to do so. The Echani had done enough already that her girlfriend hopefully happily helped with the service. A pair of rose tinted sunglasses had Jorryn watching the horizon gently begin to lower, not that it was specifically late, but the Echani was in a pleasant state of tired-ness induced meditation.

"Mmmmh?" The words came out sleepy and inattentive, though she shifted in the hammock at Vaylin's words. "I'm sure it's not anything serious."

It was in moments like this that it was extraordinarily confusing of which between them was part of internal security of the Sith Empire and which twaversed into the realm of the dead. From a sight, Vaylin was probably both of them.

The Echani would hate to make her girlfriend wait, so she got up with more than a few moans and groans. A lithe hand pressed her sunglasses back to hold up the loose strands of her hair, before tying the back of her hair up into a messy bun lazily. Hopefully she would just have to look for a second and she could get back to her hammock. It was extremely comfortable, to be honest.

A loud sigh came from Jorryn's lips as she saw what Vay saw, fingers pinching her nose as she tried to suppress her annoyance.

"Maybe they're just some late arrivals, babe." Not wanting to confront the fact that it was anything that would stop their vacation. Jorryn wanted so badly to just rest with her girl. "Or better yet, here to murder a different couple."

Jorr really wanted to get back to her hammock.

"I'm more concerned they're going to ruin our vacation. We haven't even been here a full day!"

Vaylin glanced over at her girlfriend after speaking, holding the gaze for a few moments before she returned to looking over the balcony. Glaring, she tried to get a better look of the approaching figures, but even with the Zabrak's somewhat enhanced vision, she couldn't make out much.

Just that there was a very high chance they were armed.

She drummed her fingers along the balcony, intent clear to anyone who knew the Zabrak well. That she wanted to just jump down there and incinerate those that would dare interrupt their time off. Vaylin didn't have her lightsabers, neither of them had any actual weaponry. It was a deliberate decision in order to remain incognito.

Not like showing up with lightsabers at the hip, amber eyes glowing would've stopped them from being here.

But sometimes you just wanted to be away from that, even if it was for a small amount if time.

Without saying anything, Vaylin turned on her heels and marched into the suite. She made a beeline for the intercom and began to call down to the lobby. If she could time this right...

"Ah yes, hello. How can we-"

"You've got almost three dozen armed men heading into the lobby, you nee-"

A sudden silence fell over the line. Vaylin was almost tempted to speak, but refrained as she just listened. The call was still active, she could hear the man breathing but there was evidently something off.

"Don't move, don't speak. Don't do anything."

Vaylin frowned, unable to pick up anything identifying the voice, not even an accent. Modulated voice, perhaps? Vaylin ended the call, and headed back to where Jorryn was, half expecting the Echani to be snuggled into her hammock again.

"So, do you want the good news, or the bad news first?"
