OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Develop an engine system that prioritizes low-end torque and pulling power over high-end speed.

  • Primary Source: Dorneans
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Dornean Braha'ket Fleetworks Conglomerate (X)
  • Affiliation: Dornean Braha'ket Fleetworks Conglomerate (X)
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model:
    • Formal Designation: Tibanna-Tachyon Turbine Engine/Module
    • Informal Designation: The Triple "T" Muscle Motor
  • Modularity: Yes
    • Can function as a standalone primary propulsion unit
    • Can be integrated as an auxiliary propulsion modifier (SLAM-style augmentation)
    • Scalable across platforms, from dreadnought-class vessels down to personal jetpacks
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material:
    • Tachyon intake fan and internal containment shrouds constructed from Dornean Inconel
    • Integrated Gravity refraction modules within the reaction chamber
    • Tibanna fuel injection system
    • Auxiliary engine regulation and instrumentation components
    • Standard hull materials. Outer casing material may be upgraded at the discretion of the integrating engineer
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Compatible with virtually any known variant of tibanna gas.
  • When in flight, this engine sounds like a highly modulated whale song
  • A special cover can be installed over the intake fan that blocks water from entering, but still allows tachyons to pass through. This is done as a nod towards the Dornean's aquatic nature.
  • When used as a primary propulsion system, the engine delivers extreme low-end thrust and towing capacity at the expense of top-end speed. As a permanent configuration, achieving a High speed rating or greater becomes exceptionally difficult.
  • When installed as an auxiliary propulsion module (similar to a SLAM), the engine allows conventional drives to access an "extreme power" mode, analogous to downshifting in a mechanical transmission.
    • While active, the vessel's speed rating is reduced by two tiers and may not exceed Average.
STRENGTHS
  • Heavy Lifting – The system deliberately sacrifices velocity in favor of raw thrust. In several cases, even starfighter-sized craft have been documented tearing Star Destroyer–class tractor beams from their mounting assemblies.
  • Choose Your Commitment – The engine may be installed as either a permanent propulsion solution or as a situational auxiliary module, similar in role to a SLAM unit.
  • Chain Breaker – The immense output makes this system an effective countermeasure against restraint technologies, including tractor beams, predator interdiction drives, dovin basals, and similar systems. Resistance is achieved through sheer mechanical force rather than counter-field manipulation.
  • Stealth Compatible – Because the engine can operate on nearly any tibanna fuel—including tibannaX—it may be integrated into vessels equipped with established stealth systems without compromising fuel compatibility.
  • Amphibious – a special cover can be installed over the intake fan that blocks water from entering, but still allows tachyons to pass through. This allows the engine to operate properly while submerged under water.
WEAKNESSES
  • "No afterburners"The system is not compatible with SLAM units or comparable speed-boosting auxiliary propulsion systems.
  • "Down-shifting" – When engaged as an auxiliary module, the engine reduces speed output by two ratings and cannot raise a vessel above Average speed.
  • "Unmotivated" – When used as a dedicated primary engine configuration, exceeding Average speed requires exceptional justification and specialized design concessions.
  • Not a Stealth SystemWhile compatible with stealth platforms when fueled appropriately, the engine itself does not provide any stealth capability. Dedicated stealth systems still remain necessary.
DESCRIPTION
Following their successes with poly-tibannalene and kaleidoscopic polymer research, Dornean engineers recognized the broader implications of their work. By combining Dornean Inconel with Gravity refraction technology, they had uncovered new ways to manipulate tibanna gas at a fundamental level. Infusing tibanna with decelerated tachyon particles proved capable of exciting the gas in novel and highly controllable ways.

Poly-tibannalene represented only the earliest application of this discovery. Subsequent experimentation shifted focus toward propulsion. While tibanna had served as an engine fuel for centuries, tachyon infusion introduced entirely new thrust characteristics.

The Triple "T" Muscle Motor is the result of this research. Its design emphasizes overwhelming low-end power rather than velocity. A high-capacity intake fan saturates the reaction chamber with tachyon particles. Both the fan assembly and chamber walls are lined with Dornean Inconel to capture and contain these particles. Gravity refraction modules then decelerate the tachyons, increasing their energetic potential. Tibanna gas is injected into the chamber, where proximity to the excited tachyons causes intense molecular excitation.

Through careful modulation, this energized tibanna is stabilized and forced to burn more slowly and evenly, producing sustained thrust rather than rapid exhaust acceleration. The outcome is an engine capable of extraordinary hauling and resistance-breaking performance, at the cost of maximum speed.

With minor adjustments, the turbine may be configured as an auxiliary module rather than a dedicated engine. In this configuration, energized tibanna is metered into an existing propulsion system as a performance-enhancing additive. While overall speed output decreases, towing capacity and low-end thrust increase dramatically.

Also...

An aesthetic feature of note, when this engine is in flight, it sounds distinctly like a highly modulated whale song.
