Trial Through Fire (Sage Kennedy)

Milo Ren

A Howling Voice in the Desert
Milo circled around the clearing, lightsaber drawn, held downwards with one hand. The crimson blade illuminated the surrounding area, aided by the blue beam of energy across from him. The Sith and the Jedi circled each other for what seemed like forever, sizing each other up, trying to notice any weaknesses in technique that could be used for their advantage. Where they were was not of importance. They were somewhere in the furthest reaches of the galaxy, where Milo had began a side mission of hunting down Jedi, directed by his Master, Darth Raxis. All he cared about was that this particular planet was out of the reaches of major entities in the galaxy; therefore, they'd be uninterrupted.

It wasn't easy tracking the Jedi down to this relatively secluded planet. The Force guided him, though, bringing him to the outskirts of a village. While Milo was a Sith, it did not mean he was without manners or mercy. He offered the Jedi a chance to take the fight away from his hut where his wife and daughter slept and to a nearby clearing. The Jedi obviously complied, and now here they were, circling each other, waiting for each other to make a move.

"You are already defeated, Jedi. No one is coming to your aid. Lay down your weapon and I will make your death painless."

"You have already lost by embracing the Dark Side. Even if I die, I shall become one with the Force."

"Very well."

The former Ren's face glowered in a sneer. His once handsome face was now tainted by the corruption of the Dark Side, draining all life and color from him, making the man appear as if he were dead. His white hair, once as pure as snow, was now a mottled color, rapidly greying, and his green eyes glowed with a ferociousness that was unnatural. His yellowing teeth sat in a malicious grin as Milo spoke, tone edging on a growl.

"Prepare to die, Jedi dog."

With a roar and a mighty leap, the Sith leaped forward, executing a front flip as he brought his red blade down, intending to slice the Jedi in two. The guardian deflected the blow and stepped back, making space between the two. A series of strikes and blocks flew about faster than lightning, making the field in the distance glow with sudden bursts of blue and red.

Sage would see the flashes of light, and against her better judgement she would immediately rush straight towards them. As she watched the two blades strike and sparks fly, she would be mesmerized, the sparks that flew from the blades had her staring dead at them. Her bright wings flowed over the ground behind her as she walked.

She would watch the dance that was saber combat, it was beautiful there seemed to be an ebb and flow to the fencing and yet they had never rehearsed ever. It shocked her at the chaotic beauty of it all. She would slowly continue to approach the fighters, not afraid of the sparks that continued to fly, they seemed like firefly's that would momentarily ignite before going out just as fast. This made the beauty that much more as the wind began to pick up.

As she got within 15 feet the Jedi seemed to notice her presence, causing a lapse in his concentration. Where he would normally be able to easily deflect the blow he would miss it all together as it came down and split him in two, the metal hilt that was in his hand would come flying and land right at Sage's feet. The blue blade would have deactivated but she could feel the power flowing through it, she would bend down and pick it up. She felt the need to protect the people, she had heard tales of Jedi and Sith but never seen them in action. This was too close to home for her to let it continue, she would place her finger on the activation button and press it, the blade springing to life.

"I will finish what you started." She said speaking to the Jedi

"That was easy," Milo snarled. His relentless Juyo attacks were evenly matched by his opponent's Soresu defense, and for a second, it looked as if it would be a stalemate. Then the girl's interruption distracted the Jedi. Seizing the opportunity, the Sith lunged with a ferocious downwards slash, cutting his torso and ending the fight. His lightsaber flew over to the woman who had caused him victory, and she took it and activated it, wanting to finish what the Jedi started.

"Do you even know how to hold that, girl? Drop the saber. It'll be better for you that way."

The Sith edged closer to the girl, stepping over the Jedi's corpse. His blade was still activated, but there was an amused smirk along his face now, as if the whole situation was humorous. A little girl trying to stand up to a big, bad Sith? Too precious.

"Never." Sage said, having too much to protect to go down without a fight. She didn't know if she would be able to even hold her own much less beat the man, but she would try. She felt different now that she was holding the blade, she felt powerful beyond her wildest dreams right now. She would wait for him to make the first move.

As she waited she felt something grow inside of her, she didn't know what it was but something about this saber and just holding it at the ready got her in the mood to never give up no matter how grim the odds look

The Sith shook his head, a grin still plastered on his face.

"I won't think twice about killing you. Drop it. Better yet, don't. That way after I effortlessly cut you down, I'll move on to your pathetic village."

Milo's smirk rapidly shifted into a scowl. The girl wasn't giving up. It wouldn't feel right to just butcher a girl that was young enough to be his daughter, though. It'd be better to teach her a lesson through pain.

"Look at you. Your form is weak. As you hold the blade to your right side, you overcompensate your guard there, leaving your left flank vulnerable. Allow me to show you the err of your ways!"

With a blinding lunge, the Sith shot forward, arching for her left side, lightsaber a wide red arc. Still, he made his attack slower than usual, slow enough that she would be able to deflect the blow instead of ending the fight in one hit.

Sage had heard of this before, the sith loved to play mind games with their prey, it wouldn't work on her. She knew better than to listen to the sith, she would leave her guard as it was. As she looked straight into his eyes, she had watched enough stuff on the holonet to know not to look at his blade, it could lie but his eyes could not.

As he made his move she would instantly bring her own blade up to deflect his. The sparks that flew were gorgeous but she couldn't focus on that right now, she had to focus on his eyes and nothing else. She would retaliate with a quick stabbing motion, should it connect it would take the targets stomach

The Sith parried the thrust with an impeccable block, then stepped to the side, targeting her now exposed side. While he could've gone for a lethal blow, Milo wasn't trying to kill his opponent anymore. He instead delivered a well-placed kick to the ribs, which would send the girl flying back out of the clearing and into the tall grass. Milo turned his lightsaber off and placed it back on his belt. He wouldn't need it anymore. He'd settle this how he'd prefer to do it: with the Force.

The girl thought she was doing alright, that was until the kick landed right on her ribs. SHe would be sent flying backwards into the field, her lungs burnt, she was sure she had broken at least two ribs. Her whole body ached as she hit the ground. SHe would get to her feet, she knew what she had to do to even stand a chance, the saber was beside her. She would pick it up, she would then unfold her wings on her back. She would begin to flap them and lift off, she would prepare herself

How adorable. He wasn't even trying to kill her and the girl was already trying to flee. It was far too easy to reach out with the Force and pull her down to the ground forcefully, slamming her face-first. Milo ran through the girl's body with the Force and discovered two broken ribs and a few more sprained ones on the side he kicked her on. Digging in with relish, it would feel to the girl before him that there were fingers probing her broken bones, causing her great pain. Whether or not she'd try to fly again was soon to be seen.

As she was pulled down she began to get frustrated. As his fingers dug in she would scream, she couldn't give in she just couldn't give up. Despite the pain she would quickly bring her foot up kicking him in the face. This would more likely than not would make him let go, she felt something pulling on her something she knew how to do but she couldn't think of it earlier. She would stop thinking and start feeling instead, as she did this she would once again grab her saber and slice at the man, this time much more concise as well as keeping her guard up so she wouldn't get kicked again

Milo felt the small shoe bounce off of his face, fueling his rage even further. She was persistent. The Sith would give her that. Still, this was getting irritating. He was tired of toying around with the tiny woman. It was time to convince her that continued contact would be met with pain and eventually death.

Effortlessly sidestepping the blade coming for him, the Sith grabbed her wrist with one hand and squeezed. She was weaker than him, and no matter how hard she tried not to let go of it, the lightsaber fell to the ground with a dull clink. A fist was raised up and Milo punched Sage square in the nose, bringing about a nosebleed. The next blow was to the gut, knocking the wind out of her, and the final hit was a backhand, sending Kennedy back to the floor.

The former Ren shook his head as he stood over the woman, smirking maliciously down at her.

"Well, you've got spirit, I'll give you that. Still, I'm starting to get tired of beating you to a pulp. I might just kill you."

As she was punched in the gut and then back handed she knew there would be blood, she couldnt think of that. As he stood over her she would not think but let her instincts take over. Weakly she would outstretch her hand, drawing on what awoke in her earlier, the hilt would come flying to her and as the hilt hit her hand she would activate the blade and make a move for his leg

Milo had his lightsaber in his hand and activated in an instant. The Sith moved to deflect the blade. Parrying it, the two beams of energy collided in a shower of sparks and color, painting the clearing with color, the darkness around them lit in hues of blue and red. He had to get out of the awkward position he was in at that moment. Executing a clean backflip, Milo faced the small woman now at least 10 feet away from him and raised his left hand. Bolts of lightning crackled and hissed from his fingertips, violent in sound and in color, and bounded through the air to their intended target: Sage.

"Try and get up from this, little girl."

[member="Sage Kennedy"]

As the lightning crackled towards her she would think and instantly she would raise the blade, she would position it to where it would take the lightning. As the lightning hit the saber it would begin to push Sage back, she would use everything she had to hold the blade where it was. She would then get used to the lightning's push on the saber and begin to walk forward towards the man

"My, you just don't know how to stay down, do you?"

Milo, seeing that his opponent was advancing towards him, ceased his stream of lightning and instead leaped forward in a series of wide steps. Feinting to the left, the Sith instead jabbed towards the right in a movement that would cut straight through the young woman if she didn't block in time. While it was fun toying with her, Milo was slowly becoming disgusted at the woman's tenacity and fighting spirit. If she wasn't on his side, then that way of thinking had to be crushed, permanently.
