Intent: To create a base textile that can be used in products and future submissions
Development Thread: If needed
Manufacturer: Daehan Industries
Model: MP - 5120 Tri-Laminate
Affiliation: Closed Market
Modularity: Available in different colors and weights, can also be coated.
Production: Mass produced
Material: Nonwoven material (spunbond), microporus film, polymer binder

Strengths:
· Comfortable and breathable
· Liquid-proof film layer to protect against water, blood, or other liquid.
· Filters out spores, bacteria, and airborne contaminants.

Weaknesses:
· While the fabric is durable and resistant to abrasion and tearing, it is not puncture proof.
· General wear and tear will affect the performance of this textile, it is not meant for long-term use.

Description:
Daehan industries uses a polypropylene blend to create their nonwoven fabric. The long fibers are spun and dispersed onto sheets to create web-like structures that are thermally bound together with a polymer melt. The formula for this nonwoven was specifically made to provide the following functions: softness, strength, durability, sterility, filtration and use as a barrier against bacteria. The resulting textile is slightly hydrophobic, but not completely water resistant. In order to create a textile that would be light, breathable and resistant to liquids, Daehan engineered a microporous film that could be laminated onto the nonwoven fabric. This film has pores that are just large enough to allow heat and water vapor (sweat) to escape, but small enough to prevent water, blood, and other liquids from penetrating. When the film is sandwiched between two layers of nonwoven, the textile achieves the desired function and is very comfortable to wear.

The fabric itself feels much like standard cotton, and has the ability to be draped like normal cloth. Seams are often thermally bonded, but may also be sewn with standard machines and sergers. The textile is fairly durable, resistant to tearing and abrasion, but still vulnerable to puncture. If the film layer becomes damaged, the product should be discarded. The nonwoven will break down over time with repeated wear; many of the products created with this textile have a limited use-life. This tri-laminate may be used alone, or in combination with other materials, and works well as a backing or lining to other textiles. Triadex is a medical grade fabric, and suitable for a variety of uses.

There are many common applications for this textile, including:

Medical: Isolation gowns, surgical gowns and suits, surgical drapes and covers, masks and caps, wound dressing, creating containment areas, allergen filtration.

Other: Disposable clothing (foot coverings, coveralls), weather resistant clothing, tarps and tenting, and packaging, where porosity is needed.
