The Mara Perlemian Trade Council Shipping Guild - Where you'll find everything you need, and everything you never knew you wanted! As the name suggests, the Trade Council worlds thrive on just that. Goods from all over the galaxy find their way in and out of the worlds governed by the Trade Council, primarily aboard sanctioned Shipping Guild members! The Guild has an office on every member world, some larger than others - however one thing remains the same, each member is registered with the guild, their name and ship designations stored in a guild database. Once a member has been registered, they are granted special benefits of doing not only business amongst the worlds of the Trade Council, but are exempt from a number of additional taxes and tariffs imposed upon those who don't belong to the Shipping Guild.

Additionally, member worlds and companies belonging to the Trade Council Shipping Guild are granted preference when it comes to establishing contracts with the Provisional Trade Council. This may not seem like much now, but should the Trade Council manage to stay above water, it could prove quite beneficial to those companies.

So why should you join the Shipping Guild?

  • Pretty simple, as a member of the Shipping Guild, you'll have the full backing of the Mara-Perlemian Trade Council Merchant Marines behind you should you find yourself under attack. These are hired mercenaries and civilians who wish to contribute to the safety and security of Trade Council Worlds. Funded by the dues and donations of the various member worlds and companies, these volunteers eat, sleep, and breathe along the hyperlanes, many of them veteran shippers themselves. They know the best place for a Mandoburgertm and the best place to find goods you might not be able to find just about anywhere else. Some are veterans of various militaries, others hotheads who decided to join up with the Trade Council Merchant Marine instead of serve out a prison sentence, other yet simply looking for another way to get a few extra credits - whatever the case, this is their life now, and they love it. "Weekend warriors of the sky".
  • As previously mentioned, member worlds and companies not only receive preference when looking for production contracts, but also can compete for government funding to take on advanced research projects as well as providing limited resources (Training and on occasion small arms or limited Official escort) in support of trade operations across more dangerous sectors of Trade Council Space. As an added bonus, shipments insured through the Guild will be paid out upon a successful claim should a shipment go missing while under Guild Escort.
  • As a member of the Trade Council Merchant Marine, you'll be given training from the TCAF (Trade Council Armed Forces) complete with various weapons and tactics training to include supplemental training by the TCN (Trade Council Navy) in the operation of a myraid of vessels and ship based weapons. This is a joint effort by not only the Guild but also the Trade Council to create a more self sustaining security force along the trade hyperlanes which will allow better TCAF coverage of Trade Council Space borders.
  • Increased Ease of Access, Decreased Inspections/Expedited Screening at Checkpoints. As a member company or member world, your shipments will see expedited screening at all Trade Council checkpoints as well as customs.

OOC:
What benefits does this get me or my company outside of the IC stated rewards?
  • OOC, being a member or participating as a member of the Trade Council Shipping Guild ensures that you're among the first given preference of fulfilling a contract for production of weapons, armor, or vessels by the Mara-Perlemian Trade Council.
  • Being a member of the Guild also grants you access to assistance in completing Tier Up objectives, working hand in hand with faction writers, you can receive assistance and funding for "Research Projects" giving you a leg up against the competition.
  • Limited Access to Faction technology. Being a member of the Trade Council Shipping Guild, Faction Only (Read as Faction Affiliated) Tech (Certain Faction Admin approved technologies) will be provided to you, your crew, or your company should your request be approved - non members do not receive this opportunity.
  • A lot of freedom to ship goods, and even decreased scrutiny at checkpoints and customs means there's plenty of opportunity to procure some of the less socially acceptable objects of desire - that or things that might be illegal under normal circumstances. It's no guarantee, but should you refrain from being caught, who's to say?

Corellia Digital is always interested in paying less tax.

And I have shipments moving along the Perlemian Trade Route, given the company's presence on The Wheel so... color me interested.

So, what's the cost of doing business? The benefits of joining the shipping guild are well laid out, but what's expected of the companies that join?

Ah! I'm glad you asked! IC of course there would be membership dues, and as a member of the Shipping Guild you may choose to take a number of "Missions". IC, this would basically be like a guild board, "Hey take these goods to X location, you'll get paid" etc. This could even be an opportunity for your company to offer to produce products or highlight products you've made. OOC however, basically what it would look like is participation in faction threads, and in our infancy likely provide transportation for either the Trade Council Order (Jedi Order) or even supplement our forces in securing the trade lanes from pirates and raiders - or other undesirables.

Of course, if there's something else that would appeal IC or OOC, we're very much in our infancy and entirely open to entertaining additional ideas!

I'm reactivating this old character, and the Merchant Marine caught my eye. You mentioned missions?

Indeed! While not an official military branch, they receive training and on occasion supplies (Read as hand me downs) from the active Trade Council Armed Forces. Think of it like the Coast Guard but comprised of contracted (Contract of Service, rather than typical short term merc contracts) and trained merchant crews and groups. Their main goal is to protect the trade lanes and the worlds connected to the Mara-Perlemian Trade Council. On occasion they may be called upon to transport sensitive material and or cargo on behalf of the Mara-Perlemian Trade Council or supplement its security forces along the largest of the hyperlanes through Trade Council space.

As far as missions go, I can see plenty of application for them in both faction threads and even assisting with member companies and worlds both on an IC level and an OOC, supporting member companies by contributing to their Tier Up threads or major projects.

Still kicking! Feel free to join the discord, as well - I'll get an official "Guild Members" forum up in the Faction Forums so we have a directory of approved PC's and Companies etc
