Nico was looking at him and smiled. "My aunt Matsu has made several things, strong lightweight armor as protective for force users. Bodyarmor over full military suits and some special force items." She held up her wrist at the gold circlet with the dragons heads. "Environmental force shield able to keep you warm naked on Hoth and cool when wearing full equipment on Tatooine.." She was moving and her hand uncovered the earrings that gleamed. "Pontite crystals that can keep you calm and focused." The necklace on her neck as it glowed white. "A powerful mental shield that enhances the lightside of the force within you granting enlightenment and can bring out energy you never knew you had." The smile remained on her force. "And there is more that has been made like shielding armbands and converters able to feed stations with minimal effort."

Dune made a placating gesture to Ben. His friend had been through a rough time the past few days. Even a Jedi had their limits and so he couldn't be angry with the sharp reply. The situation needed to be smoothed.

"I'm sorry if that came across like a rebuke. I was just trying to point out that the Force itself is limitless."

The Knight probably had sensed the tension. She did her best to diffuse it by speaking about applications of focusing crystals. With a last quick look at his friend, he listened to Nico. The various effects had caught his attention.

"Do these devices require the Force to work? If not, they could be very useful for those without our gift."

He was referring to explorers in barren enviroments, mainly. Dune supposed there might be military applications. Sad that that was always at the forefront, how to kill more effectively. The Bith took his role of peacekeeping very seriously, because each avoidable death was a failure in his eyes.

With what little money she had, Fleur purchased a ticket to the first flight off her home planet. Where did she purchase a ticket to? She did not care, she just have to leave. In fact, Fleur was in such a hurry to leave, she didn't pack a bag to take with her. Not that anything in her home - or prison made of bricks - belonged to her. Unfortunately she did not realize what a mess she looked until she arrived on Yutan almost penniless.

Having lived a sheltered life separated from the outside world, Fleur did not know how to obtain money without taking it by force. Carefully, she watched as people entered and left the spaceport, searching for a suitable target. The moment someone diverted their attention from their bag was when she would strike, grabbing their suitcase and running off with it. After a few minutes of people watching, she saw a young woman around her size place her suitcase down as she paid for a beverage.

Acting fast, she snatched the bag and ran as fast as she could with spaceport security slowly catching up with her. In a desperate attempt to put some distance between herself and the men, Fleur held her hand out towards them and sent a wave of Force at them, causing them to fall backwards then kept running as fast as she could.

There was a look at the sentor while she had some interest on her face with a smile though. She was rather liking all of this helping the people as her interest went to more things. Like climbing and she flexed her hands extending her fingers with the claws there while she dug them into the crates with a smile. "Well we can help them more and get to fly." That was the fun thing and she was looking at the small membran that opened under her arms while she was moving with some attention on the things. "Hmm I wander what the breeze is like higher in the mountains. I came back down when i saw the ship."

Objective B – Fortification.

The stone was cold, solid and massive.

Weiss let his hand brush its surface of the vast structure as he passed through the inner courtyard, through the main hall way and into the central communication center.
Well at least the future central communication center of the fortress that was being offered to serve as the Republics base of operations on Yutan.

Inside a group of soldiers of various rank awaited him. Falling into a swift salute they greeted him as he took a stance in front of them. Placing his hands on his back he assumed a stern military posture as he returned their salute.

“At ease.”

“The inspection of the fort has shown great promise and the Republic has decided to give this fort the necessary funding to be completed. But we need to make an effort in order to have it finished during the time frame of this contract.”

Weiss opened the patch on the side of his vest and produced his datapad.

“Major [member="Jaccer Ramirez"] – I need you to commence security sweeps through out the structure. The construction workers are civilians and the Yutan government has no reasuorces to ensure their safety during the construction.”

“Sergeant [member="Valkren Calderon"] – Saber team will handle transportation security. There are caravans going to and from the construction and the nearest space port. The caravans are vital if we are to hold the time schedule. And we plan to do just that. The road the caravan need to use runs through a dense forest that is marked status yellow. There are bandits in the vicinity, wether or not they dare attack will be left to be seen. You will stay in communication with Major [member="Jaccer Ramirez"] at all times as the officer in charge of the security in the fort.” Weiss eyes went from the officer and the NCO. Then he shifted his gaze to the soldier on the side of them.

“Private [member="Sofia Annesley"] – For your service to the Republic Army and your bravery in the defence of Roche I hereby promote you to Corporal. Congratulations Corporal.” Weiss saluted the soldier as his second approached her offering the new stripes for her uniform.

“You are to take charge of Delta squad that is waiting for your command in the barracks. Fall in with Sergeant [member="Valkren Calderon"] in his patrol.”

The colonel pressed a button on his datapad transferring the details of the missions to the people in front of him.

“Move out.” He finished and turned to holo-projector. The general would want a report sometime soon and Weiss knew that they were falling a bit behind the schedule. Never the less, the funding provided for the fort would be wasted if they did not deliver.

Hey folks, I am actually going on a LOA shortly but I figured I could try and give you a military approach on the dominion. It’s a “take it or leave it” kinda thing as per usual
But if we do get a decent post number for this fort we could consider this a dev thread for a future Republic fort on Yutan. Solidification! Huzzah…

 

[Jaccer Ramirez]

Objective B: Aid with fortification

Usually in these situations Jaccer was tasked with killing someone or a group of people. However, today was the exact opposite; he was tasked with ensuring that people remained alive. What was being asked of the Major seemed simple enough, from previous experiences Jaccer knew that civilians -usually- didn't attempt to shoot you at any chance they got.

Turning on his comm system, Jaccer would reply to the colonels orders, "Roger that sir. I will be making my sweeps soon."

A brief overview of the facility was all Jaccer got before being ship out to Yutan. Never before had he been to Yutan or ever thought about travelling there. But here he was, appointed as head of security for an isolated fortress. Hopefully this excursion wouldn't be as boring as the colonel let on to believe and perhaps there would even be opportunity to include Orion Corporation weaponry into the defences. Until he was able to get to the fun stuff like the defences, Jaccer would have to do routine checks of all the other departments and rooms under construction in the base.

He would also keep his communication system online in case anybody had to get in touch with him.

Kay smiled as she watched [member="Raya-Tat"] move amongst the crates. She was a bit afraid of heights, so flying wasn't quite something that she thought that she could do without the help of a ship. "I'm not sure what it's like up there. Maybe later I'll go for a hike."

Then more soldiers started to come in, including [member="Weiss"] . Kay had seen the man before and knew of his reputation as a great soldier. She waited until he had finished speaking and then bowed her head to him. "Afternoon sir. I have just brought in engineers and a vast number of supply crates. Where would you like them to be distributed?" All of the crates and people were inside of the fortress already, piled up in the courtyard.

There were soldiers coming upon them and the padawan could see the senator while she was standing on the crates with a grin on her face. "Oh yes a hike those are fun and we can see what else there is on the world that can help and do things." Her smile remained when she was looking at the soldiers and at the armor while she stopped jumping around and jumped down gliding for a slowfall until she was at the sentors side with a look all around at the things. "So many soldiers."

Objective B - Aiding in the fort construction

The machinery started to move with military discipline. Soldiers rushed off to perform their various duties. While not construction workers per se these soldiers wouuld ensure the safety of those that did work on the site, something that was crucial both to keep these people safe from harms way and to be able to keep the time schedule.

Just as he had finished the briefing [member="Lady Kay"] entered the site and Weiss turned, slammed his heels together and offered a stern salute.

"Senator," he began recognizing her. "... it is an honor to have you on the site." Weiss then nodded toward [member="Raya-Tat"] trying to crack a smile from his scarred face.

" The extra supplies can be unloaded near hangar bay C." he turned toward the holo-map displaying the entire fortress as it should be when it was finished.

"As you can see the fort is almost completed but essential areas still lack its infrastructure and we lack enough power to have the gun batteries operate at maximum capacity. I would offer you a tour myself but I am afraid I am kept rather busy." he continued speaking with a neutral voice.

"However, major [member="Jaccer Ramirez"] is in charge of the site security and is organizing the defenses around here. I will let him know you have arrived, I would advice that you do not wander off on your own but wait until the major has arranged an escort for you."

Weiss turned his head toward the exit where [member="Valkren Calderon"] and [member="Sofia Annesley"] were leaving.


"That is Sergeant Valkren, leader of an elite unit of the Republic Marine core. He will keep transport to and from the fort safe with his men, and to aid him he has Corporal Annesley to assist. Both are fine soldiers that have served and protected the republic"

Weiss eyes shifted between the troopers departing on various missions and the senator nearby. Changing his voice to a more subtle and discreet level he turned back again with a plea.

"As a representative of the senate I believe it would be a morale boost if you took smoe time greeting these soldiers ma'm. They are the ones stepping forth when the senate asks for it."

With that he switched on his com.

"Major, we got a VIP on the site one Senator Kay. Make sure to meet her and assign a proper security detail for her. I will have a trooper take the duty until further notice from you. Carry on." he said and then turned to one of the officers in the command center.

"Lieutenant, position yourself in the senators presence and escort her until she departs the planet or contra orders are given by Major Ramirez." he said to [member="Rendom Axel"]

Then he returned his attention to [member="Lady Kay"] and [member="Raya-Tat"]

"Feel free to move in the inner courtyard. Lieutenant Axel here will keep an eye on you but wont hinder you in any way." he finished and offered another salute to the two.

Kay wasn't used to such a fuss being made over her showing up somewhere. Usually she was assigned escorts when she was in enemy territory. But then again this area wasn't entirely safe yet. That was why they were here.

She looked to the holo-map and then to [member="Weiss"] , taking in his advice on what she should do. A morale boost would do everyone good. "I will do that. Thank you for all of your help. I won't keep you from your duties." Kay bowed her head to him.

She looked to [member="Raya-Tat"] and smiled. "We'll go on that hike soon. I promise." Her attention then turned to [member="Rendom Axel"] . "Thank you for your assistance, Lieutenant Axel. We'll do our best to keep out of everyone's way." Kay approached her engineers and helpers, directing them to take the crates over to Hanger C. No doubt [member="Valkren Calderon"] and @Sofia Annesely would see her when they had a moment. In the meantime she helped to pick up one of the crates and carry it. She didn't think of herself as being above doing the grunt work. She wanted to do her part, not just give orders and watch from afar.

Raya looked at the people while she moved in to follow close letting her head nod as if she knew what was being said or had an interest. After a moment she felt a pain but rubbed it out of her neck seeing some of the things and hearing the senator while the woman spoke. She didn't say it out loud cause why disturb her but yes a promise to a hike was worth it as she flexed a little standing near one soldier and almost being dwarfed with the armor in the way. The only thing really helping was that her tail could go over her head and a little over his so she could look taller. The other soldiers she just sucked in her small gut and puffed out her chest to try and look taller. This was so cool.

Kay bowed her head in thanks to [member="Rendom Axel"] while she carried one of the crates with help from one of the engineers. There was dozens of crates, but enough people to help make the move go rather quickly and smoothly. " [member="Weiss"] suggested that I go visit the other soldiers. So once I'm finished here, we'll go and do that. Then if you're up for it, I'd like to go for a hike in the mountains. Unless of course you feel it is too unsafe to do so."

"Thank you, Lieutenant Axel." It took about 20 minutes, but soon all of the crates were in Hanger C. Kay greeted the other soldiers and chatted with them and then glanced over to @Raya-Tat "Shall we go to the mess hall and help dish out the meals? Everyone deserves some good food, especially all of them." Yes, she was in a helpful mood today. But the task that everyone was undertaking was immense. And they needed all of the help that they could get, as well as something to look forward too. [member="Weiss"] told her to boost their morale, so that's exactly what she was doing.

Kay recalled where the mess hall was on the holo-map and headed down there, pretty sure that [member="Rendom Axel"] would be following right behind. The poor soldier was probably bored with being her security detail, but [member="Jaccer Ramirez"] , [member="Valkren Calderon"] and [member="Sofia Annesley"] haven't come by yet to relieve him. A fine stew was being prepared for them, full of meat and vegetables with a cake for dessert. Drinks were also on hand, a variety of them too, as not everyone had the same tastes.

She stood behind the large stew pot, handing the bowls onto each of the soldier and engineer's trays, smiling and giving a bit of small talk to all of them. To her, being a politician wasn't enough. Their work was far more important than her meetings and managing of funds. It was silly that she was being held in higher regard than they were.

Rendom dragged himself along,it wasn't that he didn't enjoy helping people,it was that he didn't enjoy doing what the civil workers normally do.But,as ordered he guarded her with his life.The one activity he was looking forward to was the hike,because then he could experience some form of excitement.He somewhat patiently awaited the next activity.Occasionally looking out the window for a distraction.

Sofia accepted the new stripes and the responsibilities that came with it with a small smile and returned her superior's officer, [member="Weiss"]' salute.

“You are to take charge of Delta squad that is waiting for your command in the barracks. Fall in with Sergeant [member="Valkren Calderon"] in his patrol.” was Sofia's order before she headed towards the exit behind Sergeant Calderon.

Her first destination was the command barracks where Weiss told her that her squad, Delta was awaiting her arrival before returning to the Sergeant for her orders. Although she was not familiar with the military facilities on Yutan, she had memorised the map prior to her arrival on the planet to ensure she would not get lost while carrying out her orders.

Having found her way to the barracks, Sofia took a second to prepare herself before entering the room and meeting her new squad. It was only until recently Sofia had been in their position so she felt a bit nervous. Hopefully she can be the leader a squad derserves.

Nico was looking at them and the span of time passed while she offered raised eyebrows and kept moving forward into the mountains. The probes showing her where to look as it was reading crystals and aurodium in a cave that she was taking them into. "You guys are alright and I might not be the best but I am more then certain we are going to have some fun." She was looking over some of the things and activated the blades on her gauntlet letting the lightshield activate on the other one. All of the light illuminating the cave while the crystals sparkled all around them. She was looking at things while testing the shielding system of the upgrades they had gotten and adjusting the lightshield's size.

There was a lot more people coming now and she could see them while standing there and wanting to help the senator. The soldiers here though meant at least she was protected while Raya moved up looking at more of the things the jedi might be able to use on the planet for getting help. She scaled up a tree swishing her tail before jumping off to glide deeper into the jungle and join the other padawans while she saw some of the probe drones searching all of the things. She could follow them and rejoin the jedi researchers letting the air catch the membrane of her arms to go through.

A couple of hours went by. Thankfully it was still light out. That gave them more time to go for that hike.

Kay packed up some of the leftover food, filled her water bladder and tucked it all inside her satchel. Her work was done for the moment. All of the soldiers and workers that came in to eat seemed to be at ease and enjoying themselves. Good. Now it was her turn.

She turned to [member="Rendom Axel"] and smiled. "Time for that hike. If you're ready, Lieutenant." She walked quickly out of the mess hall, almost with a skip in her step. She crossed the courtyard and then hurried out of the fortress. By the time she reached the forest, she was almost running. At least this time she was running for fun instead of being chased. It was good to be back in nature again.
