Trade and train... [GR dominion for Yutan]

[member="Dune Rhur"] [member="Nico Minuro Ike"]

Ben always took comfort in the familiar, so following a Jedi off into the jungle with his seemingly constant-companion Dune put him in a state of ease, considering his Master's abrupt departure from the planet. Ben had a tendency to hold on to things that were easy and comfortable; he never was one for change.

As he followed behind the small Knight, he could not help but note her strangeness to him, what with all of her jangling bracelets and those earrings. To Ben, it seemed a little over the top, although he also was not particularly concerned with the fashion choices of others.

Her weaponry was interesting, though. Ben had never seen a pair of gauntlets like those before. Ben always believed a person's taste in weapon said a lot about them, although he had no real rule-of-thumb for judging a saber gauntlet user.

Well, there was a first time for everything.

"I'm Ben Corscifine. I've been with the order since I was ten years old--uh, that's eight years ago. I'm a padawan under Corvus Raaf."

Ben had initially though Dune's short response funny (though not wholly uncharacteristic of his economical friend), but he too could not think of anything else to say as a means of introduction. So, he left it at that as he winded his way along the path behind Knight Ike.

Lusk and his men had begun the charge, however thankfully in a galaxy where warfare was scientifically elevated they had fun things like jump packs. The packs activated and clones were every which way and direction. Lusk himself had gone airborne and was hopping from wall to wall until he landed behind the bandits that were firing frantically and furiously trying to hit anything.

Now having the drop on them Lusk drew his two pistols from their holsters to give double the damage in the close quarters situation he was now in. Like a gunslinger in the old days the clone began to open fire and pick off multiple targets that found his way into his path. Bandit after bandit fell and Lusk basked in the glory that was combat, it was what he loved and having grown up being raised as a mando it was something that his family also shared in.

"Targets down, proceed to breaching." Lusk said as he holsters his pistols around the smoking corpses of bandits.

The clone turned around and the other clones were already moving forward towards the strongholds main door. All they had to do was breach it and storm the refinery or whatever it was now. Then take their leader and kill the crap out of them. So clones stacked up on the large door and would begin the breaching process to get inside.

Bewildered Mantic put her head in his lap. He tried to smooth over the blanket to offer her whatever comfort possible on the simple floor they rested upon.

"I won’t abandon you. We are here for you." he mumbled as he kept stroking her fore head. Without knowing the sith lord he sensed the evil mark left by @darth vronskr in her and struggled to find a path to follow, to help her return to the light, to at least ease her pain.

Turning inwards he focused his mind on the light that he hoped would still be able to break through this wicked layer of corruption and torment. He reached out, at first gently trying to open the doors into her unconsciousness. There were walls everywhere. Her mind torn Mantic sensed the urgency to reach her in time unless she might be lost for all times.

He allowed himself to open up and poured down into her mind, searching for what he hoped could be left of [member="Ella Nova"] in this shell of a jedi.

Lifting several beams, they flew over and settled in the ground as duracrete followed after it, sealing them in. Wiping his brow, he had been working for seven hours straight and he was getting a bit tired and in the mood for a drink. Speaking to the developers and military officials nearby on what needed to be finished, he slithered down a newly constructed road into a small town, seeing a cantina about middle of the way in with humans and aliens heading in for a drink after work.

Coming inside, he bent his head, looking around. There were several telescreens around the bar with sports on them, showing pod races and a sabacc match going on. Popping himself on a stool, his tail wrapped around as the bartender came over, surprised to see an alien such as him.

"You got Corellian whiskey here?"

"Yeah, just got a batch in last week. How do you like it?"

"On the rocks."

Pouring him a glass, Mak wasted no time with downing it before another was poured for him. Sipping it leisurely this time, he looked around the bar to see that most people were either eating and drinking while talking or were watching the games. There was an occasional glance at him, but that was about it.

Oh so these two had been born in the order, staying on course while she walked but looking them over with a nod of approval. "Cool cool, I came to the order after being a dancer on Atrisia." Then she had been streamlined by her master to promotion which she didn't know at first but had been surprised. Some skill, some fights and then after making her sabers she was promoted and her master running off to do what she wanted to do. It had proven to be maybe for the best but she had been spending the last two years working to be a better jedi knight with padawans while she stopped and jumped up a little. "Alright then so you both have other permanent masters so at least I don't have to try and explain some things. Corvus though well she helped make this." She tapped with a finger the necklace. "More available to the jedi, the force crystals we are liking for on worlds like this. The stronger mental shields to protect are invaluable."

"What kind of crystals?," Dune asked with genuine interest.

He knew about focusing lenses like the blue Illum crystal in his lightsaber. There were also other, less common Adaegan mephite numbers and the ultra rare pontite versions. Such might be used to help focus one's meditations like the large mephite crystal on Ruusan. Then there were kyber crystals, using to power starships and even large scale energy weapons. Lastly, stygium crystals to cloak ships did indeed exist but they were about as common as pontite gems.

Oh, and synthetic crystals. Those had bad associations with individuals wielding bloodshine blades. But then Grandmaster Skywalker and Jedi Jaden Korr had used them. Korr had actually cleansed one of the infamous red focusing lenses.

looking at and listening to the senator the only thoughts coming to her mind was what her people were like and would do in this situation... well they'd pack up and move the ships. Go find another system for however long they could and just go from there because... Wars had cost them their homeworld and system to dangerous poison that was still there... Though they had fought another species and hurt them just as much but all of that they learned was for whoever made and organized both of them. "Well my people would just pick up and move, we avoid comflict almost religiously and focus on protecting each other. Humans don't seem to do that, they seem attached to places."

Dune and their guide were engaged in a discussion of crystals which disinterested Ben so much that he couldn't even understand what was being said. Nico was showing off a crystal on her necklace, while Dune asked very important scholarly questions. Ben just wanted to know where Corvus had run off to, and what exactly they were meant to be doing.

Ben had no interest in taking up permanent residence on Yutan; he was a creature of habit and his life was on Lothal. Sure, Yutan seemed to be a nice enough planet, but it wasn't a major enough change of scenery to warrant Ben's attachment. Perhaps they would have found some sort of ancient holocron or something else of value within the abandoned temple, but that particular point of interest seemed to have been abandoned as the party was led into the jungle.

For now, Ben decided to hold his tongue. Perhaps this information on crystals could be interesting if he gave it a chance. Better than contemplating why they were blindly following this Knight through the forest without any clear idea what their plans or intentions were.

Today was just a grumpy day for Ben, it seemed.

Kay listened and nodded. She had never seen anyone like [member="Raya-Tat"] before, so there was little that she knew of where she had come from. But at the mention of humans being attached to places, she shook her head. "Not every human is that way. I travel to many places. I don't have my own home or my own ship, so there is nothing for me to be attached to, but my satchel. Yet even that was taken from me for a time. Everything gained can be lost. We just have to cherish it when we have it."

Finishing off his fourth drink, he lit up his pipe for a well deserved smoke. Inhaling deeply, smoke began to escape from his nostrils as he sighed happily, watching a pod race on the screens in front of him. Seeing one of the racers blow out their engine, crashing in the desert, an alien next to him slammed the bar with his hand.

"Another fifty credits down the drain!"

"I wouldn't bet on flashy racers who have big engines. It makes easier for an accident to occur and for them to crash. I find that the smaller the pod, the higher the chance the racer will win."

Watching as a pod racer in a plain looking pod won the race, the alien looked at Mak.

"How did you know that?"

"Maybe it's because of my mystical powers!"

Waving his hand spookily, Mak laughed hard before being given another drink. As the alien walked away, Mak took another draw on his pipe, enjoying the buzz he was getting from the drinks. Corellian whiskey was too good to pass up.

However, a few minutes later, he came back and there were five more people standing behind him.

"Alright, winner. We've got another race coming up in ten minutes. Here are the racers and their pods."

Putting a datapad in front of him, Mak looked at all of them before he picked the second to last.

"Take Obran Garr. See how the front of the pod is? It's shaped that way for taking sharp corners."

One of his buddies looked at the line of bet on the racer and paled.

"The betting line is +300 that Garr will win, Darst! If we lose, that's all of our money!"

"Pick Garr... His pod is designed for tight races. He's going to have a spectacular race."

As the alien looked at Mak, he nodded and turned to his buddies. "Put it all on Garr. I'm trusting this guy."

Walking away to make the bet, Horg took a seat again, looking at Mak.

"You know a lot about pod racing."

"I used to live on Tatooine. I went often enough to see the Boonta Eve Classic. You get to know who will win by what kind of pod they use."

As his friends came back, they all stood around Darst as the next race came on. As it started, Garr was near the back for the first two laps and Mak could hear angry noises coming from behind him, knowing that Garr was losing.

However, when they came to a canyon, Garr jammed the pod to the side of a sharp cliff , skimming it craftily as he shot up the straight length. Eight of the other pod racers fell below into the canyon where a terrific explosion came.

"Ooh, that wasn't fun."

Jamming his thrusters, Garr sped out in front and crossed the finish line before all that could be heard was cheering. The friend of Darst who had been so worried about losing was now dancing around.

"WE'RE RICH! 3,000 credits in and we just made 900,000 credits!"

As they continued their cheering, Darst clapped Mak on the back.

"My friend, you just earned yourself a drink. I see you like Corellian whiskey. Soris, get my friend here a glass of Whyren's Reserve, and for me as well"

Mak's brows shot up because he rarely drank Whyren's Reserve. It was the best of the best, the rarest Corellian whiskey. He used to have a bottle of NN182 that he had been saving for a special occasion.

As the bartender placed the glasses in front of them, Mak and Darst clinked their glasses together before all of his friends came around, asking for Mak to look at more races.

"This is it boys and girls!" Lusk said as he hit the side of the wall near the door.

The main gate was wired with explosives and the clones would soon be able to breach it and storm the compound. Dozens of clones were ready to end this fight once and for all and make sure this system would no longer have the problem of small villages or towns being sacked by raiders such as these, it was something that Lusk was going to take pride in.

This was a simple job, breach the gate, storm in, kill the bad guy, then go home. So looking at his demo man and the breach team Lusk gave the signal and the door exploded in a furry of violence and force. Caving in on itself the doors swung open and bent backwards now stuck where they were.

"Go go go!!" The first squad stepped in with their rifles raised.

Lusk followed in behind them and what happened next no one could of seen coming. The men in front of him, the entire squad simply exploded. But not in the sense of fire and bombs, as in they literally exploded into buckets of gore and blood splattering themselves on Lusk and the men behind him.

"Well that was just tragic..." A low dark voice rumbled in the deep.

Above the exploded clone troopers there was a single figure sitting in a throne made of cast iron and rust, a darkness that chilled the very bones of even the most experienced of soldiers. The figure known simply sat up in their throne and looked down at those beneath him, he looked down at those he intended to destroy.

"If I were standing where you were right now, would you be inclined to show me mercy?" He asked in his low pitched booming voice.

There was a flash of light and blaster fire as the clones opened up in a fierce volley of gunfire on him. Bullets and blasters struck hard and grenades were thrown until a thick cloud of smoke filled the area around the figure. A looming feeling of dread spiked in the men as a single trooper moved to investigate.

"He wasn't so tough, nothing mister equalizer here couldn't fix." The Clone said as he walked towards the fog.

"KEL NO!" Was all a single clone could say as the reached out to try and stop the woman.

The woman paused and turned around and stared back at the squad of trooper.

"What?" She said confused.

"Didn't think so." Was the last thing the woman heard before a large bastard sword split the smoke and her in half down the middle to reveal Dredge.

Like a horror movie playing before Lusk's very eyes everything had just gone from a standard operation to what seemed like a nightmare. Kel was down, an entire squad was down, everything was falling to pieces. While yes the base was theirs and resistance was being wiped up the clones couldn't handle this, they couldn't handle whatever was facing them now.

"Fall back! Everyone fall bac-" Was all Lusk could say before everything went hazy.

Like a club slamming into a ball Lusk flew backwards as if he was shot out of a cannon. His body ached with pain as it wracked against the hard cast iron walls of the building. Slumping down he coughed as his vision began to tunnel in and out. He could see flashes of the monster ripping into his squad, a man torn to pieces here, another cut down there, and some simply exploding into buckets of gore and blood.

"Nooo..." Lusk said as he weakly raised his blaster pistol.

The clone commander coughed and his shaking hands wavered until they could no longer support the weight of the pistol. Everything went black after that as he was drug into unconsciousness.

Dredge smiled as clones began to fall back from the facility, looking over to a downed clone commander the monster slowly paced up to the man who was slowly fading in and out of consciousness. Picking him up with one arm and lifting his limp body up to meet his face the one eyed Yuuzhan Vong stared into the clone's visor and pulled his free arm back readying to remove their head.

"I'm going to enjoy this." Dredge said with a smile beneath his helmet.

"Noooo. I feel her presence upon him, she is close to him, very very close. Use him, use him to seek our vengeance..." Dredge's eye rolled back as the voice spoke to him.

"But of course." Dredge said as he flicked out a single iron clawed finger.

Carving numbers into Lusk's breastplate they simply read as the date Keira and Dredge had first met on antecedent, a day the voice knew she'd never forget. He wasn't sure why the voice wanted to carve it there, but whatever the armor wanted in order to keep giving him its power. But when he was done the monster threw the clone's limo body against the wall and made his way to their personal shuttle to go raise hell elsewhere.

That she could udnerstand there was a whole lot of different people she had encountered in her brief time in the jedi order and exploring with the other people around gave her some chances for different experiences while eating some more of the nuts. "I think I get it, there are a lot of humans I have met and the jedi seem to be like that... some of them at least. Others seem to like being in the temples or in places like this so they can search around and work on things." She was walking and taking in more of the jungle. "Though I am curious now about this place, all these people are really in need of these supplies?"

"Well the usual force crystals found are common things we can use for training blades and to give students when they work with sabers. Focusing ones until they find better ones. Mephite is the most common but certain crystals have been popping up that are more rare and interesting.." She was looking at the other padawan and raised her eyebrow while walking through the jungle. "Though usually when we find crystals we try to set up a mine to harvest them and new experiments have helped create some strong items the jedi can use. We've created force channeling gloves with the crystal shards being embedded in the reactive material allowing it to be used to crush crab armor."

Huh, I had no idea that this kind of technology existed.

It turned out that this conversation was somewhat interesting. As far as Ben understood the Jedi, technology was not a primary focus of the Order. That which gave power to the Jedi, both individually and as an order, was eternal and simple. The Force was not a technology, but simply an existing power that informed and influenced the galaxy for all time. It was tapping into this energy, not scientific advancement and the creation of new tools and weapons, which made the Jedi an important faction within the galaxy.

Still, Ben had aspirations of becoming a warrior, and serving the Republic with his lightsaber in hand. Perhaps weapons and armor would aid in that goal. Ben could imagine himself charging into combat with the sith, wearing Force-attuned armor and wielding his own lightsaber with pride and power.

"What has your research yielded in terms of armor? Do the Jedi still wear standard robes into battles against heavily-armed enemies with blasters and tanks?" Ben chuckled at the thought.

Kay glanced around, seeing the rest of the supplies that she had brought, coming into the fortress. "It might not appear as though they need all of it, but they do. You can never be too prepared. Why I always have my satchel with me and in it I have food rations, water, tea supplies, extra clothes and a blaster. Just in case. Because you never know when something might come up and I'd get stranded or have to run away somewhere without a moment's notice." Such things happened more often than not for her. So she was glad to have the habit already in place.

"I suppose I'm a traditional being at heart," Dune commented "We lack for nothing because we have the Force."

He smiled after he'd said that. Being a Bith meant he had a natural appreciation for technology. To a point, anyway. He looked at Ben when he made his joking comment.

"A tank can be literally crushed into a ball of slag, Ben."

He shrugged.

"As far as blasters go, there are solutions."

He patted the hilt of his lightsaber.

"Or better yet, hopefully we can talk them down from the need for blasters and tanks."

Objective A

"Well, the day I see you crush a tank into a ball of slag before it blows the two of us to bits, you can crush me into a ball of slag." Ben scoffed at his friend. Dune had made a joke, but Ben had taken the reproof seriously. The Bith's tone was a little more reprimanding than the young man would have liked...given his current state of absolute irritability.

And given the fact that Dune was right.

Ben always forgot that Jedi served the Republic first as diplomats, a soldier's role was that of a soldier, a Jedi's role was that of a peacekeeper. If all Force Users resorted to violence first, the galaxy would be a bloodbath and there would be no balance. Ben had to repeatedly remind himself of that, love his lightsaber though he may. Still, Ben had said something, and he couldn't backpedal now.

He wasn't one for admitting faults or mistakes.

"Our enemies are often beyond reason. Let's just agree that, when we're together, you can do the talking and I'll be ready to do what needs to be done when it doesn't work."
