The N&Z corporation had already been allied industrially through various technology exchanges and permission protocols with the genius people behind the Vandemarian Techwrights, whose base of operations on Zakuul was known as the heart of both old and new tech either pulled directly from or at the very least seeking to emulate or even improve upon the lost and legendary capacities of the ancient galaxy's Eternal Empire. With the shifts in the economic stability, the rise of new governments and the fall of old ones, it was thought wise and prudent to capitalize on the shared knowledge and expertise of both companies, to take their values and strengths and pour these into a vessel which would fit the needs of both corporations.

Amalia knew very well that those in charge of the Vandemarian Techwrights were keenly aware of who was the true power behind the N&Z, they had shown discretion and did not seem to mind nor meddle with the internal affairs of other companies. This made them not just a mere logical, but also a wise choice to start something new with, something ambitious and perhaps in some aspects maybe something dangerous, but there was no doubt in her mind, that as long as each company would play their part, each would be raking in the profits both would need for any further investments.

Zakuul was tightly cordonned after a recent invasion, but Amalia's light and nimble Gala starfighter didn't seem to have too much issue slipping through the cracks, keeping her radar and sensory signal to a minimum, she maintained in complete silence until she came close to the planet's orbit, allowing her starfighter's sensory scramblers to do their job as she sent through a missive to the Vandemarian Techwrights' leadership in the form of an audience request...

Follow his meeting with Nines above Zakuul, Aurelian had returned to his home, seeing it almost vacated. The First Order had done a decent enough operation in trying to take the planet but his home was secured against worse than some Imperial invaders. Entering and occupying were yet differences to living and he was Zakuulan. He had lived here.

While in compliance and co-existence with the First Order, he reclaimed his palace as base of operations and re-populated it with old and new staff alike. Once established, he had returned to working in the Outer Rim alongside some Imperial movements and initiatives before he would once more return to Zakuul. The grip and power of the First Order was fading already and he made no effort to prolong their suffering but also not in an attempt to undermine them, he simply let them go their natural way.

His study overlooked the Spire's vast, bright cityscape, terrace gardens of the palace hung below and he was going through local administration when a notification on the communication feed caught his attention.

N&Z. Umbrella Corporation. And the request came from within the system which raised more than one alarm. He shut them personally and redirected the request to his office and the meeting location to the palace proper. The last meeting with Halcyon had been in opposition to him taking Liin Terallo Liin Terallo and her invention and while not violent, was foreboding of violence. Aurelian had no interest to start a petty war with the N&Z and their overlord, as he knew they had been in league with the Confederation and therefore still potentially with any of their remnants.

He rose from his chair and decided to remain as he was, a simple red tunic, trousers and high boots, unarmed. Yet he was not so trustworthy and alerted the Companions who would serve as honour guard. If this should go violent, they would give him time to react.

And thus Aurelian, Hegemon of Vandemar, moved downstairs and prepared to meet the figure arriving from the N&Z.

No army, no security detail...not a single guard, not even her infamous compatriot The Dealmaker was present as she arrived on Zakuul. There was no need for any of those, as there was no immediate threat to the company's CEO nor was she like most corporate bigshots in any shape or form incapable of protecting herself. As she had been holding together the dream and plans of her master for over five decades in silence and under the very noses of His successors, Amalia was without question one of the most capable and most stable foundations upon which the N&Z stood.

Exiting her starfighter after having landed on one of the lading pads at the Spire, she jumped out of the cockpit, dusting off her jacket, glancing around as she realized not much had changed on Zakuul, as if time, the galactic affairs and the very Force itself simply could not grab a hold on the planet in any effective way. It was as if the planet remained untouched by all it deemed not of any use to its own progress.

"Funny...how little time seems to impact this place... Eternal Empire was perhaps the most fitting name for such a place after all," The woman chuckled dryly as she started to walk towards the spire, her pace one of confidence and silent strength. Each step, each movement meassured and without flaw, betraying that behind the veneer of a corporate leader, she retained her past as a shadow operative for the massive conglomeration she was now running.

It was nevertheless going to involve a bit of tension if Amalia were to meet the Overlord, the leading man behind the Vandemarian Techwrights, after all... Her master had already confronted the one whose very aura and presence doused the entirety of the spire in an unmistakable light of power.

Still, all she could do was announce herself upon arriving at the entrance of the spire, making clear that she was here for nothing more than talks and negotiations, something she wished to emphasize by revealing that she wore no fire arms upon herself apart from her two standard issue NZ Vibrodaggers which were sheathed and strapped to her sides. "Tell his grace that Amalia Visconti, CEO of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation has arrived and wishes to discuss potential economic strategies."

Amalia was greeted by a Zakuulan Knight in white armour, a subtle golden trim and black underlay gave a notable contrast. He was accompanied by four Skytroopers, fanned out to flank both him and her. There were more around the platform and gardens, motionless watchers that were ready to jump to action. The helmeted figure nodded to her after obviously speaking on his comms but not for her to hear in his helmet.

He turned and gestured for her to continue, the Skytroopers falling in behind her. Though their movement would soon come to a halt as the large doors opened and Aurelian stood in front of her. She could see two large figures behind him, though in some distance, both carried shields and lightsaber pikes.

The stone-grey eyes of Aurelian settled on the woman for a moment before looking past her and then refocusing on her. "I have expected your superior." He bluntly stated, looking at the CEO with a certain indifference that he probably offered to anyone who was not part of his inner circle.

"Come, Miss Visconti, so we may discuss those matters of potential economic strategy the N&Z has in mind." The large figure turned around and headed for one of the two semi-circular staircases that led upwards, slow steps carrying him three up with no difficulty. They left the escort behind, only the two large armoured individuals followed some meters behind. Aurelian led them into the study he had previously occupied and offered her a seat on one of the two larger armchairs that stood in front of his imposing desk.

"What brings you to us?"

While she was being surrounded by those who in any other empire could be considered elites, Amalia could only show an expression of utter desinterest. These men were easily comparable to the Valkan guards employed by the Nargath House, their discipline and movements betrayed their extensive training and experience. Still, by simply shifting her weight a bit, making her movement more fluid and flexible, her pace increasing yet not to the point she'd shoot past the knight, Amalia's own training and expertise was in a sense in full display to those who could understand it. Careful observation and a calm, neutral demeanor were carried as both a weapon and a shield by this woman to an almost unsettling degree.

As the Large doors to the inner sanctum opened, her expression neither faltered nor did it change, there would be no gasps of amazement or awe, just the calm and collected sigh escaping her lips to at the very least acknowledge that her observation had already allowed her to not just notice Aurelian Sigismund Aurelian Sigismund himself, but the two guards behind him, who just judging by how they held themselves were far beyond the very knight who had led her to this place. by the looks of it, comparable to the top among the Valkan Guard, easily surpassing the sceleratis employed by her master and the gluttoneria elites.

As the mighty man spoke aloud his expectations, for the first time, Amalia smiled softly, her gaze falling upon the two guards once more. Naturally, that would've explained such highly trained, competent individuals. For a moment she wondered if the fact that the Zakuulian expected her Master to come to this meeting would explain the presence of such highly trained individuals. It would after all be quite the smart move if that was the case, for anything less would've been quite an oversight and an underestimation on the part of the Zakuulian in regards to her master.

"My master has a great many things to deal with," Amalia calmly exclaimed in response to the Zakuulian's words. "as per my appointment to the position as Chief Executive Officer of the Nargath and Zanareth Umbrella Corporation, I am responsible for the respresentation of my master when it concerns the growth and expansive of all economic and corporate dealings the company makes with highly honored individuals such as yourself."

She wasn't exactly wrong with her statements, as many companies and corporations which had achieved the size and notoriety the N&Z could claim, would mainly employ envoys or perhaps high tier management personel for these kinds of meetings. The fact that Amalia was being sent personally, ment that at the very least, the one pulling the strings in the background understood the importance of what was to come.

As the zakuulian overlord led her to another room, requesting she lay her cards on the table, the CEO couldn't help but chuckle a bit. She understood why her master told her to be careful, for Aurelian was no slouch in terms of intelligence and speechcraft. If his immense physique and his presence were stripped away, the Lord of Hunger had surmised he'd be no less dangerous as an opponent due to his shrewdness and analytical mind.

"The N&Z wishes to bring forth the opportunity to the honored Vandemarian Techwrights to create a means for better cooperation and synergy between," Amalia tilted her head a bit backwards, holding her hands open with the palms upwards, as if she were offering it all right there and then. "A joint venture to further integrate both of our technological competencies into a single cohesive line of technological advancements and high quality products."

Aurelian did not immediately answer her proposal. He lowered himself into the armchair behind the desk with the unhurried ease of a man who had already decided that silence was a more useful tool than reaction. His hands rested upon the dark surface before him, fingers interlaced, the stone-grey of his eyes remaining fixed on Amalia while the city beyond the study windows continued its indifferent brilliance. Zakuul did not dim itself for intrigue, nor did it brighten for opportunity. It simply endured, as it always had.

"A joint venture," he repeated at last, his tone neither dismissive nor approving. "A pleasant term. It allows ambition to dress itself in the language of restraint." The faintest movement touched the corner of his mouth, though it did not quite become a smile. "But I do not object to ambition, Miss Visconti. I object only to wasteful ambition, sentimental ambition, and ambition that requires me to pretend that vague promises are foundations."

He leaned back slightly, not enough to surrender authority over the room, but enough to suggest that the first measure of the conversation had been taken. "The Vandemarian Techwrights do not lack production capacity. We do not lack engineers, design temples, research vaults, or access to principles of manufacture that most modern corporations would mistake for sorcery because they have forgotten the discipline required to understand them. What we lack is not brilliance. What we lack, deliberately, is overextension." His gaze sharpened then, less hostile than dissecting. "So before we speak of synergy, a word so often used when one party wishes to take what the other has built, we will speak of structure."

"If the Nargath and Zanareth Umbrella Corporation seeks a shared vessel with the Vandemarian Techwrights, then it will be a chartered enterprise with defined jurisdiction, defined markets, defined research categories and defined limits of access. It will not be a corridor through which your master, your board, your financiers or your competitors may wander into our deeper holdings. Nor will it become a device by which Vandemarian designs are laundered into theatres, governments or remnants whose loyalties shift faster than their procurement contracts." His voice remained even, but there was weight behind every clause. "You will understand, I trust, that recent history has left Zakuul with very little patience for guests who come bearing opportunity and leave behind occupation."

He let the statement settle before continuing, no anger in him, only memory treated as policy. "My preliminary terms would be simple. Equal corporate representation in the venture's governing council. Independent security oversight from both parties, with a third internal audit body answerable to neither parent corporation alone. Research compartments separated by project class. No unilateral transfer of prototypes. No military-grade release without dual authorization. No external sale to factions presently engaged in hostilities against Vandemar, Zakuulian interests, or declared partners of either corporation. Manufacturing to be split by specialty, not vanity: Zakuul will retain high-complexity fabrication, systems integration and quality sanctification. N&Z may contribute distribution architecture, industrial scaling, material acquisition, market penetration and whatever proprietary technology it believes suitable to prove its value."

Only now did he gesture, not broadly, but with a slight turn of one hand toward her, permitting the conversation to move from principle to substance. "In return, the Vandemarian Techwrights would be prepared to open cooperation in several fields. Autonomous security platforms below strategic threshold. Civilian energy infrastructure. Precision shielding for high-risk industrial sites. Medical stabilization hardware. Atmospheric and urban restoration systems. Select starship subcomponents. Perhaps, in time, more advanced systems." His eyes narrowed slightly. "But not at the beginning. Trust is not a signing bonus. It is accumulated through performance."

For a moment he glanced past her, toward the city, where the clean geometry of Zakuul's towers rose like a civilization still convinced it had never fallen. "There is value in what you propose. The galaxy is fractured. Every power speaks of renewal while scavenging from dead empires and selling the fragments as progress. The corporations that survive the coming decades will not be those that merely produce more. They will be those that produce with continuity, secrecy, discipline and the capacity to outlast regimes." He returned his attention to her. "In that, N&Z and Vandemar may indeed have overlapping interests."

Aurelian's expression remained composed, though the indifference had cooled into something more attentive. "But you did not risk entering a cordoned Zakuul in a light fighter merely to offer me a slogan and an empty corporate shell. You came because there is a first product, a first program, or a first market your corporation already has in mind." He rested both hands upon the desk again. "So speak plainly, Miss Visconti. What does N&Z wish to build with us first, what does it intend to contribute that we cannot already provide ourselves, and what does your master expect to gain beyond profit?"

Amalia had little choice than to listen to the Overlord, taking in each word, each and every syllable which moved past his lips. here was a man who had the ear and the respect of her master, even if they weren't always on the same line or even on the same page, it was no secret that the Lord of Hunger viewed the Overlord as something akin to himself: a wildcard, a piece on the board which was hard to sway, hard to predict and even harder to deter when finally it came in motion. Yet, this time... The Lord of Hunger wanted to move this particular piece on the board, stirr it to action and set in motion a cooperation which in theory allow for easier movement of assets at a reduced personal cost, a lower exposure rate on both personal and business level.

because it was her master's desire to conclude this matter with a positive result, Amalia was careful not to immediately speak up, simply keeping her eyes upon the overlord with a slight, mild interest in her eyes, barely noticeable for any ordinary being, but the Overlord was no ordinary being in the end, no doubt he'd be able to discern exactly what Amalia was and more importantly what she represented. She did not flinch, nor did she twitch, alluding to having been normalised to situations in which others would fear for their life in extremis, in fact, she even dared to have a spark of arrogance, an air of domination around her which made it all the more clear that she practically dismissed the Overlord's guards as anything but background noise.

Aurelian Sigismund Aurelian Sigismund was the only important person of note, the only one who gave a reason to be careful, but he was not Him, he was not her master and because of that, she had the gall, the stones to defy even this massive superhuman being.

"Now now...before we go straight into the details regarding the set up of the joint venture and the products this joint venture would be putting forward," Amalia's face lifted up ever so slightly as her left hand rose up slowly, as if to halt any noise which seemed to bother her, a mannerism which in a way was quite reminiscent of the Lord of Hunger himself. "I did not like the overestimation of your own company in comparison to the N&Z, Lord Sigismund. You speak as if the Vandemarian Technwrights are beyond the N&Z in terms of technology and engineering process. While we respect your company as an already established partner and cooperational ally in terms of innovation and research, to designate the N&Z as nothing more than a second rate mass-market producer of goods either shows great delusion or disinterest... the former would be rather strange considering you of all people should be aware of the TRUE capacity our company retains within its shadows, while the latter...is a possibility, but considering we've already established a proper contract in the past... I believe the only final reasoning could be... a test."

Tilting her head to the side, the woman calmly clacked her tongue, snapping her fingers as if to shout out "eureka" with this sudden change of movement, this sudden outburst of expression from an otherwise expressionless woman. "The idea of the joint venture is mainly to protect our companies from political backlash. To present products under a name we both agree upon, a shell from which we can operate and earn, a means to prevent any scutiny by any major government against our dealings, our decisions and our assets. Vandemarian Techwrights was the first we approached in regards to setting up such a construct, such a framework, as we are all aware that we've already established ourselves...both of us, to be more than competent partners and useful cooperators when it comes to innovation and progress. We are also aware that Zakuul is careful not to become embroiled too much in the dealings of those they consider lesser... so let us reach an agreement in the assumption that the N&Z is your equal...or are you openly willing to proclaim you are our superior and thus by extension...you are the superior to my master?"

Aurelian allowed the silence after her challenge to remain for a moment longer than courtesy required. Not enough to insult her, but enough to make clear that he had not been struck by the barb. His expression did not shift into anger, amusement, or approval. It remained composed, almost judicial, as though Amalia had presented not an offense but a discrepancy in need of correction.

"Miss Visconti," he said at last, voice level, "you have misunderstood me."

He leaned forward slightly, the movement measured rather than threatening. "I did not call N&Z a second-rate manufacturer, nor did I imply that your corporation survives by flooding markets with inferior produce. If that were my assessment, you would not be seated in this study. You would have been received by a trade attaché, handed a courteous refusal, and escorted back to your fighter before the tea cooled." His eyes settled on her with calm precision. "The fact that you are here, speaking with me directly, is already a concession to N&Z's importance."

A faint, restrained smile touched his mouth, colder than warmth and gentler than mockery. "But equality is not a prayer to be recited before negotiations begin. It is a conclusion reached through specifics. N&Z has capacities the Techwrights do not possess in the same form. Reach. Penetration. Adaptive corporate camouflage. Industrial recursion through subsidiaries and shell structures. A talent for surviving political weather by becoming difficult to properly name." He inclined his head slightly, conceding the point without surrendering the argument. "These are not minor strengths. They are precisely why the proposal is worth entertaining."

Then his voice hardened, not in volume, but in substance. "Yet there are fields in which the Vandemarian Techwrights are superior. Not universally. Not as a matter of vanity. As a matter of craft, inheritance, and sealed knowledge. There are systems we produce not because we found an archive and copied what slept inside it, but because we understood why it had been built, why it had failed, and what principles allowed it to exceed the crude limitations of modern design. Quality is not always scale. Sometimes it is purity of comprehension."

He rested one hand against the desk, fingers still. "What you and your master have seen of the Techwrights is useful. Impressive, perhaps. Profitable, certainly. But it is also the surface." Aurelian's gaze did not leave her. "Zakuul is a visible door. Vandemar is a fortress behind it. The Unknown Regions hold the true value of the Techwrights, and that value was not preserved for millennia so that it could be mistaken for a bargaining chip in a corporate duel of pride."

For the first time, his attention seemed to move beyond the room entirely, as though the bright city below, the palace, and the cordoned world itself were merely an outer wall around older considerations. "Your master is not my lesser because I judge certain Vandemarian arts beyond N&Z. Nor am I his lesser because his corporation commands tools and shadows that mine does not. We are not children measuring crowns. We are discussing whether two dangerous institutions can construct something profitable without exposing what should remain buried."

He leaned back again, restoring the previous distance between them. "So let us dispense with the theatre of insult. If N&Z wishes recognition as an equal partner in the venture, then it shall be treated as one in the structure of the venture. But do not confuse equal partnership with identical capability, and do not mistake the portion of our strength that we have permitted you to see for the whole of it."

Aurelian's expression softened by a fraction, enough to return the conversation to diplomacy rather than warning. "Now. We agree, I think, on the purpose of the shell: insulation, discretion, and access without obvious entanglement. That is a workable basis. The question remains what the first instrument of that arrangement should be, and how much either side is prepared to risk proving its sincerity."
