Giving no one the Force? Removing it from all?

Hatred paused. The calm smile he had was gone completely now, unnaturally removed to a stoic thin line. There was an impulse there. Rage and hate in equal measure at something so appalling. If the Galaxy was cut from the Force, it would only serve to sever them from the Netherworld. To sever them from Hatred and his kin.

He, truly, hated that idea.

And yet the smile returned as he thought on it longer. As he truly let his mind understand what it was that could do. A story of one of his kin, of a Jedi so long ago that had severed themselves from the Force and left a walking wound. A wound that had created that kin. If that was a path, then what would happen if the Galaxy at large was suddenly severed from the Force? What sort of wound would that make?

What would happen if the Force died outright?

"That would be the much harder path. You would have to face the Jedi and the Sith, along with every other individual that wants that power for themselves. They would not submit willingly. You would still be choosing for them. I am not against such a path, and those with me would not be opposed. It would be a violent path."

I studied him quietly for a moment. "I don't think that it would necessarily have to mean removing it from everyone." I folded my hands on the table. "If someone used the Force to deliberately harm others, I could understand severing their connection to it as a consequence of their actions. We already accept that principle in other circumstances. Someone who commits a crime can lose their freedom. Someone who demonstrates that they cannot be trusted with a particular responsibility can have that responsibility taken away. But that isn't the same as deciding that everyone should lose something simply because some people misuse it."

I glanced down at the empty cup. "And perhaps giving everyone the Force isn't the only way to achieve the sort of equality that you're looking for, either. One of the things that I wanted to determine with the Catalyst Protocol was whether it's effects could eventually become hereditary. If the changes I made to the body could be passed genetically, then the Force sensitivity or lack thereof wouldn't necessarily have to be continually created. It could become something that was simply inherited."

I gave a small shrug. "That's only a theory, though. I've never been able to test it. I haven't exactly had a willing partner standing in line to help me conduct a multi-generational genetics experiment." A faint smile appeared before fading again. "But if it were possible, it would change the problem considerably. It would mean that eventually there was no choice to be made at all. Eventually no one would inherit the connection. It'd just cease to exist."

I looked back towards him. "I don't like the idea of a violent path, Elder. Not because I believe that violence is never necessary. Sometimes it is." I sighed softly. "But I've seen enough of what happens when people decide that the end justifies whatever they have to do to reach it. Freedom is rather difficult to build when you've had to destroy half the Galaxy to achieve it."
