- Reliable: The TKV-97 is dependable, and unlikely to break down. And in the event that one does, repairs tend to be quick and easy.
- Versatile: The main metacannon can be modified to fire plasma bolts, maser beams, chemical weapons, and even small nuclear warheads.
- Chemically Treated Armor: To increase survivability in alien environments, the anrmor is chemically treated to be resistant to many types of environmental damage.
- Difficulty With Sharp Turns: The TKV-97 is not designed for urban warfare, and is nearly incapable of turning a sharp corner. Only the most experience drivers could pull it off.
- Needs Infantry Support: The TKV-97 often has difficulty when dealing with enemy soldiers on foot.
The TKV-97 has been a mainstay of militaries across the Galaxy for decades. It was origianlly designed and manufactured by the highly corrupt Glolmark Corporation. It was used in the Corporation’s oppressive colonization of the Unknown Regions, where it easily outclassed anything deployed against it. When mass slave revolts against the corporation started, the TKV-97 was deployed to keep the slaves oppressed. During the revolts, several of the hovertanks were stolen by independent space pirates taking advantage of the chaos.
However, the TKV-97 was no more effective at stopping the revolts than any of the Corporation’s dozens of other types of military machines. One by one, the Glolmark Corporation was driven off of its colonies, and eventually declared bankruptcy. Several other vehicle manufacturers began building and selling near-identical knockoff versions of the TKV-97.
The TKV-97 itself is a very traditional, but very dependable tank. Like any self respecting tank, it has thick armor and a powerful, turret-mounted cannon. This also comes with the natural downside of being difficult to maneuver. It is primarily designed to be crewed by G-1 Security Droids, but is capable of being crewed by organics as well. An average crew consists of a driver, gunner, and a mechanic. (Organic crews may also have a commander for better coordination.)
