She might have been the only person in the galaxy to hate being on Jerrilek.

Nilah preferred to be training. She would happily trade tropical islands, dense forests, and soaring mountains for lightsabers, training droids, and the sterile smell of perpetually running air recyclers. Her instructors on Coruscant saw it fit to send her here. Bit of a cruel joke — practically bordering on torture! They emphasized that it wasn't punishment, but who were they fooling? Cool off away from the Temple, they said, training could wait. Granted, she was a bit of a hothead, but wanting to become stronger was such a bad thing?

Nilah stepped off the Galactic Alliance transport and into the spaceport docking bay. A cam droid trailed close behind, hovering over her right shoulder. She might be on another planet, but the instructors saw fit to monitor her and keep her on a short leash. She was also an impulsive, young Jedi and they felt responsible for her safety. Nilah strolled through the bustling spaceport, stopping to get an ice cold Jawa juice at an Ithorian-run kiosk. As she exited the spaceport, the warmth of the sun fell upon her and a cool breeze kissed her skin. Nilah's biology painfully betrayed her, as the idyllic surroundings tickled her head-tendrils with delight. Well, might as well make the most of of this 'vacation.' Besides, she may have smuggled a lightsaber with her.

She looked up to the cam droid and took a slurping sip of her Jawa juice. "So, where should we go first, little buddy?"

Donning a pair of oversized sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen, Altrea Dinn (aka Thalassa, Goddess of the Sea) stepped out onto the streets of Jerrilek. It was her first time away from home, on a strange and unfamiliar planet, in the middle of Alliance territory. But if the teen felt any anxiety about being in such a place, she didn't show it. Her head was full of thoughts of the beach. The water, the waves, the cute boys...

But first, food. She picked up something along the way and ate it straight from the box as she walked upon the sandy shore. Her parents had given her pretty much free rein to do as she pleased, along with access to all the funds she could possibly need to do it. They wanted her to be more independent. That was what this little vacation was all about.

So far she was enjoying her newfound freedom, though she hadn't splurged as much as her sister Persephone Dinn Persephone Dinn might have. Mostly she just liked the solitude, and the feeling of being unrecognizable and mysterious to everyone here. They'd find she was full of surprises.

Some beach

Nilah awkwardly stumbled on the hot sand, having abandoned her sandals long ago. Her civilian clothes were awful. Just another form of punishment by the wise masters of the Jedi Order. They said it was best she not draw attention to herself and that she embrace being a private citizen. That included not wearing her robes. Ugh.

At least there was Jawa juice. Nilah took the last sip of her drink (she had refilled it three or four times now, there were Ithorian-run kiosks everywhere) and dropped it in a recycling bin. She continued along the sand towards the water. Foamy waves lapped at the shore. The incessant buzzing of the cam droid was at least partially blocked out by the gentle roar of the waves.

Nilah approached the water rapidly, like a man dying of thirst finding a watering hole, and sunk her feet into the wet sand and let the water crash at her ankles. She began idly playing with the water using the Force, swirling it around lazily.

She looked up at the unsuspecting surveillance camera, "Think fast!" And with that, she splashed water at the helpless hovering droid. It desperately swiveled out of the way. "Padawan Nilah!" came the stilted robotic voice. "Careful! You could fry my fuses!"

Nilah just giggled, her head tendrils glistening in the sunlight. Yeah, she was a bad ass Jedi, but she was also a sixteen year old girl.

Altrea was enjoying her meal, slurping up noodles, when she felt something strange. Someone or something nearby was using the Force to alter the environment.

Lifting her sunglasses, she squinted against the sun's rays, trying to find the source of the disturbance. This area of the beach was almost deserted today, but there was a girl with a droid playing in the ocean... wait. Was she manipulating the water?

She was!

This was the first time Altrea had ever seen someone using the Force here. It felt... weird. Not at all like how her family or the shamans used it, there was an unpleasant harshness to the girl's power. Her aura was too shrill, too bright. Was this the Light Side of the Force her parents had spoken of?

Standing up, Altrea threw away her empty takeout box, then approached the girl. Soon her bare feet were on wet sand, the grains shifting and slipping away with each crash of the waves.

"Excuse me," she called out to the girl. "Are you a Jedi?"
