Time Rift-Class Assault Destroyer

beviin2.jpg

Image Source: http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j282/Deseli/Starships/Cruisers%20and%20Destroyers/beviin2.jpg
Affiliation: The Primeval - The Chiloon Rift/The Time Foundry
Manufacturer: The Primeval - The Time Foundry
Model: Superior Electronic Warfare Assault Ship (S.E.W.A.S.)
Modularity: May be Updated to modern armaments at a facility other than the Time Foundry.
Production: Requesting Mass-Produced (in the place of minor production) due to the use of the Time Foundry.
Material: Durasteel, Quadranium, etc.
Classification: Assault

Length: 1000
Width: 400
Height: 350

Armament:

[*]Assault concussion missile tubes (10) (Eight Forward, two broadside split)
  • 4 missiles each

[*]Helix Warhead tubes (5) (All forward)
  • 1 Warheads each

[*]Superior Electronic Warfare Module Suits, w/ Droid Starfighter Firewall Theater Networking Capabilities
[*]Tractor beam projectors (6)

Hangar: 3 Droid Squadrons

Special Features:

[*]Superior Military Grade Electronic Warfare Firewall Systems
  • Creates a network with friendly Droid Starfighter Squadrons present within a local theatre, to provide electronic firewall systems, but does not directly control them, only preventing them from being hacked. If the Time Rift is destroyed, or otherwise disabled, the droid starfighters it was supporting are then vulnerable to hacking.

Maneuverability: 13, it better than average but not enough to be crazy.
Speed Rating: 17, speed wasn't a huge concern and cuts it close to becoming a handicap for this ship
Hyperdrive Class: 1

Strengths:
  • Electronic Warfare: Despite being an Assault class ship with a focus on weapons, it has a significant secondary focus in dishing out and defending against Electronic Warfare. To most ships, it is very formidable, but is far from the most technologically advanced.
  • Electronic Defense: With a hefty focus put into defending friendly droid star-fighters with a firewall network, the droid driven destroyer is incredibly formidable against hacking and other distortions despite being entirely automated.
  • Payload Heavy: Although the main focus of the vessel was reducing hackibility and increasing electronic warfare proficiency in the vehicle, the secondary focus of this vessel was to dish out a harrowing array of powerful munitions as opposed to innumerable turbolasers. Heavy turbolasers are still present to a very limited degree, and every section of the ship is moderately protected by star fighters with point defense cannons, but otherwise the ships main arsenal consists of digital sensor attacks or heavy payload munition rounds. This particular ship even goes a step forward in setting up some of its launch tubes on the broadside to dish out maximum damage in any direction the enemy may be coming at them, rather than strickly forward line of sight.
Weaknesses:
  • Average Mobility: With more focus put into its weaponry and electronic defenses, high speed and and maneuverability weren't huge priorities. Enemy ships that are designed more for than standard or average speeds will run circles around this ship. Given its moderate and standard defenses, this could be crippling.
  • Droid Reliance: Despite its defenses and electronic fail safes, the simple fact of the matter is, the ship is entirely automated and droid operated, meaning it is still more vulnerable to being digitally captured than an ordinary ship crewed by organics.
  • Finders Keepers: Seeming as these ships are strictly produced within the Chiloon Rift by the Time Foundry, it is entirely possible that a small convoy of these ships can be discovered and claimed by non-Primeval forces, and used against them, before the Primeval can find them and acquire them.

Description:
Development Thread: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/65946-the-sound-of-iron-shot-rebels-and-allies-vs-primeval-and-allies/ (Currently the thread is focused on combat, but I would like to use these in the thread in order to introduce their capabilities)
Intent: To create a ship that the Time Foundry Produces, that has the capabilities to moderately protect droid starcraft from being hacked, while also being able to hack enemy droid starcraft or just generally wreak havoc on large vessels computer systems.
Who Can Use This: Limited to those who take them from the Chiloon Rift

NOTES: I'm a Ship newb, help me out here!

I would take a look at these two submissions [x, x], since you're embarking on the quest of electronic warfare. To say the very least, these two are the best examples of E-War capital ships that I've seen in my tenure as a Factory Customer.

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"] Those are minor production, pretty sure I can't equip them to a Mass-produced ship, even with accelerated production rates. I'll give it a shot though!

[member="Darth Metus"] Do you know of any ships that can protect droid starfighters? Otherwise, very helpful!

[member="Zambrano the Hutt"]

Protect them from being hacked at large? No.

What I would do is have this vessel act as the heart of a network that connects all the droid fighters in a particular theatre. This network would not control the fighters (because we saw how well that worked in Episode I) but rather be a hub that provides a collective firewall to the units. As such, when someone attempts to hack the droid, bam, brick wall. Ship goes down? Oh chit.

Just spit-ballin' here.

[member="Braith"] I'm still going to give it a try, because if not for my Foundry I'd make this Minor production. So using that as a justification, I'm hoping to use the Time Dilation effect to my advantage and loop around the fact the Helix's are Minor Production items.

[member="Darth Metus"] Love it

How is this looking now people?

You would have to be making the helix missiles within that time dilated location and the ships outside, otherwise they are being produced at the same rate (Minor & Mass).

[member="Braith"] The Ship itself is being produced at a minor rate, be due to the acceleration of time inside the bubble where the Foundry is located (where the ships are constructed), once the ships exit the bubble in convoy's, it'll appear as if they are being Mass-produced, when in fact in the bubble time is simply going by much faster than the outside.

So it's basically having a Minor Production Ship being produced over the course of say, five years, compressed into just one.

You link point defense lasers to laser cannons (which is a different kind of weapon altogether). The article for point defense cannons are located here.

Medium dual turbolaser cannons (2)
If these are standard dual turbolasers you can just put Dual Turbolasers (2).

Heavy Double Turbolaser Cannons (20)
Double as in dual? Probs a good idea to just put dual unless that's a different kind of turbolaser altogether.

All in all you have... roughly 780ish capital guns (counting assault missiles/heavy missiles) and about 72 defensive armaments, and 3 squadrons, at 7 Man. & 10 speed.

Averages run about 300-500ish capital guns, full squadrons (3), 15ish speed and around 14-15ish maneuverability. Granted your ship is largely more narrow than normal, and you do have a development thread being done for this. It is probably a good idea to adjust speed & maneuverability closer to 14 than 10.

[member="Braith"] Thanks.

As for the weapons, I literally pulled two lists from the Victory Star Destroyer and the Venator Star Destroyer and mashed 'em up.

I also have literally 0% knowledge on how to count up weapons and stuff for this, so you'll have to bear with me on the large part. So am I over or under or what?

[member="Zambrano the Hutt"]
A bit over, as far as missiles are concerned. Heavy/Assault Missiles count as 8 capital guns, or 4 standard missiles, which count as 2 guns each (standard missiles:guns), so if you did a bit of maneuvering with the numbers and stuff to go down by around 200 guns (most of your gun count is in the missiles, just knock down heavy proton torpedo tubes to regular proton torpedoes and such and you'll quickly find yourself down to where you're looking at being comfortably pushed through).

Minor production missiles would still produce a lot more in quantity than a mass-production destroyer ;)

Added more weapon descriptions/placement notes, two more strengths/weaknesses, and some notes here and there.

Question: How am I going to make the rebel skirmish into the dev thread? So far the rebel skirmish is all about... well, the rebel skirmish. I've made two posts, and in both I've mentioned a convoy not yet claimed within the Chiloon Rift.

I'm hoping to maybe bring these into play, but first I need it to be mostly acceptable enough.

So what do we think?

Mention the ship is being built throughout the thread, or is being planned to be built throughout the thread, and it would work just fine.
