STRENGTHS
  • IT'S BILLY ZANE!: It's Stygium Cloaking Device is among the finest Cloaking systems ever created, allowing for lethal ambush tactics that allow it to decloak as it fires, then recloak almost immediately therafter.
  • It's Pirate for "Fire The Cannon": Its Powerful Laser Cannons can inflict tremendous damage, especially if linked together for focused volleys
  • SHOW ME THE POWER!: The Phantom boasts the among the best speed of any fighter The Galactic Empire ever created, and it boasts much higher than normal defenses that can make it difficult to bring down even with modern weapons.
WEAKNESSES
  • The Fourth Skull: Examples that yet remain outside the hands of governments are often aged, found in old Black Ops Military Sites or private collections, as such their systems, while often remarkably intact and functional due to the higher quality of their construction, often suffer from increased malfunctions and require near constant uptuning. The laser weapons of aged examples tend to overheat faster if fired for more than fifteen seconds, and sometimes suffer power issues where the range of their lasers drops randomly by half and accuracy occasionally suffers. Engines tend to overheat if run at maximum speed for more than a period of five minutes leading its agility and speed to drop by two ratings for a few minutes after. The electronics sometime suffer from load times on running scans and planning navigation. The Hyperdrive sometimes won't turn on, or hyperdrive jumps suddenly cut short due to malfunctions tripping safety features. The cloaking device sometimes might overheat and shuts off if the fighter comes in and out of cloak too often from constantly firing its laser cannons, and needs maybe an hour to cool down after before it can safely be activated
  • Take 'em to your grave, Shang Tsung: Unclaimed examples are often still with their self destruct devices, an Anti-Theft System developed by the Galactic Empire to prevent the fighter from falling into enemy hands. If someone knew the old detonation codes, they could presumably try and transmit them to the device to try and set it off. Alternatively, the age of the device means it could accidentally be set off from an old imperial transmission or even any frequency in the general ballpark for what would activate the device
  • Repair Issues: You're not going to find the parts to repair this in the field if it takes enough damage. Be ready to call a tow.
  • Acquisition difficulty: No unclaimed examples can be found anywhere but in abandoned facilities with the strictest security measures still operating in place, or in the hands of private collectors who may be extremely dangerous.
  • Storage Issues: It has no landing struts like other fighters, and must be stored on docking clamps
  • Outdated: Its Electronics are all outdated, rendering them susceptible to jamming, and are much more vulnerable to Ion weapons due to both this as well as age.
  • Two to tango: Requires a co-pilot/gunner to get the most out of it.
  • Imbalances' Agility is not as high as it's speed due to age
DESCRIPTION

The TIE Phantom was once poised to crush the Rebel Alliance, The Galactic Empire having done what would be considered impossible today and managed to build a Fleet of thousands set to deploy from the hangars of the Super Star Destroyer Terror. Only a desperate and daring operation launched by the Rebels ended up relegating The Phantom to the fate of a historical footnote.

Unclaimed fighters such as these are among the few surviving from the Imdaar Alpha Fleet, and are considered a Lost Technology that is almost impossible to reproduce, making every single surviving TIE Phantom from the era of the Rebellion the member of a shrinking club that will eventually be nothing more than an entry in a datapad. Surviving fighters are jealously guarded secrets of private individuals and factions, who may often own only a single example taken out only when necessary, such as Doomsday Scenarios. The Fighter turning up on the Black Market is nearly unheard of, and would surely incite a price that could range well into a billion credit purchase. One can only imagine what a mint condition example would command.
