A TIE/lt has the standard armor plating of a traditional TIE as well as a light deflector shield that can take a hit or two. It relies on speed and maneuverability for defense.

Squadron Count: 12

Special Features: None

Maneuverability Rating: 2 at normal speeds, 3 at max speed
Speed Rating: 2 normal, 1 max speed.
Hyperdrive Class: x2, short-range only (galactic quadrant)

Strengths:
- Speed
- Maneuverability

Weaknesses:
- Light defenses
- Below-average armament for a starfighter
- Decreased maneuverability at top speeds

Description: The TIE/lt was designed as a hybrid starfighter-interceptor for the New Order. It has a design similar to the old Eta-2 Actis-class starfighters, with the slight difference in that the wingspan is enlarged to handle the triple laser cannons. Intended as a hybrid Starfighter-Interceptor, the Lightning was designed to be sleek and fast with a small targeting profile while also packing the punch of a heavier starfighter. In so doing, Imperium Forge Works, in conjunction with the New Order Special Forces, developed a design based largely on the Eta-2 Actis-class starfighters of lore, enlarging the wings to allow for the triple laser cannon. This decreased maneuverability, though, as the larger wingspan created more mass to turn, particularly at high rates of speed. At standard speeds, the fighter can almost keep up in maneuverability with some Interceptors; however, when pushing to attack speed, its maneuverability performance drops to that of most standard starfighters. Given that it lacks the defenses of a starfighter, the decreased maneuverability is dangerous at best. TNO Special Forces decided they could live with it, though, and put in an order for limited production.

Development Thread: If needed.

Intent: I designed this for Wes's units on TRF and wanted to bring it with him over here. It's a unique design, and I want to continue using it.

Who Can Use This: The New Order, particularly TNO special forces.

Please hyperlink "Imperium Forge Works" to this this page. If a company or factions manufactures something, we generally have to have it hyperlinked to the approved company submission or the faction home page.

If you would add some more to this such as its history and design details, that would be good. I'd especially recommend talking about how its flight performance can change.

In general, factory descriptions are at least 4 sentences long, but most ship submissions here have descriptions that are at least several paragraphs long.

I'd change production to "limited" to reflect a more elite status of TNO special forces. This will also help with the variable flight performance, which is a more high-end feature giving that it's pushing speed to 1. While it's possible to keep this at mass production, I think it would then require at least a 10 post development thread.
