Personality: She hails from humble beginnings, but since marrying the late Baron de Lion she has embraced the more lavish lifestyle, placing a high importance on her outward appearance. She will usually be found in a rich wardrobe consisting of fine garments and expensive jewelry. Her leadership skills are excellent, making her perfectly suited to any form of business that will greatly impact people and society. She has a thirst to be the last one standing in the end and will always vie for the position of power. Her fierce competitiveness, combined with her powers of observation, and thirst for secrets allows her to recall facts and when necessary bring them to the table in a time of need. This makes her a cunning participant in the world of Politics, a trait suitable given her position as wife to a Tapani nobleman. A persistent woman, and combined with an inability to let things go, she can hold grudges forever, in fact she rarely if never forgives and forgets, going as far to exact revenge; and her force is one to be reckoned with. On another hand she will always remember a kind gesture forever and will repay it. Any such gesture will gain her trust and respect, one can gain an amazing, and powerfully interesting acquaintance. She tends to dominate and control anyone that allows her to, or anyone she finds weak.
Strengths and Weaknesses
[-/+] Poison Resistance - Like all Korunnai, she possess a very high tolerance to poisons due to geographic circumstances. Her ancestors have been exposed to the toxic cloudsea that covered the lowlands of Haruun Kal for centuries. Over time their bodies have naturally evolved to produce antibodies that allow them to fight off different poisons, toxins, and venoms quicker than most. However, if strong enough there is chance that this trait can be ignored.[-/+] Vodou Magick - She is a practitioner of this heavily shamanistic tradition that originated on Haruun Kal, beginning as a set of tribal techniques and spiritual beliefs that derived from the Pelekotan. Elements include knowledge of herbs, poisons, creation of charms and amulets, and rituals used to protect oneself, or harm others, etc. Unlike most Force users, for her to utilize her abilities she is required to have some sort of focus to channel energy or somatic ritual.
[-/+] Unyielding - She is resolute, and unshakeable. She is very adamant, and refuses to be persuaded or have her opinion changed. She is strongly attached to her beliefs and nothing is likely to change that. As determined as she is, sometimes this rigid, and relentless attitude can worsen situations. This single-minded thought process is almost blinding as her temperament, and pride can put her in her own way.
Biography: Very little is known with any certainty about the early life of Tia Laveau, however, amongst the Korunnai she is recognized as the eponymous character that graced their folktales for several generations. She is described as ageless, timeless and forever unforgiving, the reigning queen of the Vodou. While she won't deny such tales, she is truly the daughter of the woman who inspired such phenomenon, sharing the same name. Tia was born into the small Ghôsh Mawu, the natural daughter of Tia Laveau I and a Balawai councilman who agreed to help the Vodou Mystic conceive as part of their deal to have him appointed to the Newly reestablished Representatives Council using her connection to Pelekotan. Tia picked up the traits of her mother and took on her name, eventually coming to replace the woman. Little much else is known about her past from this point on.
Tia eventually began her association with many nobles, finding herself intrigued by their lifestyle as she assisted them in their endeavors. One such was the Baron de Lion who wanted access to her magicks to aid him in his political schemes amongst the Tapani. She fell for his lifestyle more than him personally, as she desired such. He married her and she left Haruun Kal to join him in the Tapani Sector, thus inducting her into House Melantha. She grew to become a reputable participant in the houses politics, notable member of the de Lion family, and feared opponent to those who knew of her Vodou status.
Though the recently, the throne has become vacant. The ruling family to occupy it took control as a way to unite the sectors during the plague, the king recently died due to unknown circumstances and now the surviving families have began to engage in political intrigue in a thirst for power. However, Baron de Lion had became unexpectedly ill around this time as well, succumbing to his illness not too long after the death of the king. Tia sees it all as an incredibly complicated game of ambition and scandal to which she is able to showcase her social finesse. She desires to moved behind the scenes and manipulate many political situations so that she is left standing in the end.
