ICARUS
SOMEWHERE UNDERGROUND
The masked woman grew tired of waiting for this guest to arrive. Another figure of at least relative importance if she was to take this person into the heart of the mountain just beyond the capital. No one entered that place except the Seer. It was a private space, sacred in its own right simply for its purpose.
There was a roar of a ship approaching, the faint click of shoes on the metal below. A small shift nearby and in response, she turned to face the figure that approached. A woman. “Darth Megarea?” She awaited a reply before turning to head into the depths of the earth that surrounded the landing pad with a lantern in hand to light the way, if only for the visitor’s benefit. “This way.”
Even without the Force to aid her, she knew these tunnels like the back of her own hand. They all did. The annoying prickling sensation in her back reassured her that the visitor kept pace behind her through all of the various twist, turns, and long corridors.
“Keep to the left side. A step too far to the right will trigger a number of traps. I would rather you arrive unharmed. Follow the Path.” She continued on her way, steps light and carefree on the jagged and slippery stone underfoot. The pair walked for a while until they reached a large door with candles adorning the sides. On the lowest step, the woman leading Megarea stopped and turned around with a metal hand outstretched. “Please surrender your weapons. They are not permitted beyond this door.”Once the weapons (if any) were given up, her free hand motioned towards the door.
“Enter. The Seer is waiting inside. May His Eye Never Waver.”
With those parting words, the masked woman vanished into thin air. Once the Sith entered the hall and the door closed behind her, a simple question was posed. Only one question that rang and echoed through the vast, candlelit hall. It seemed to emanate from the man levitating at the opposite end of the chamber with his back turned away from the door.
