Thunderbolt [Vela]

Studying her a little longer, from amused smile to the playful gleam in her multihued eyes, he let a content sigh. Feeling her hands slide slowly up to rest on the slope of his neck, he fought the urge to immediately lean in and claim her lips as his own. There was no hiding the comfort he drew from her affirmation, however, and his eyes closed again as his head dipped and their mouths locked together once more.

This time, the part of his mouth allowed his tongue to briefly entice hers out with a brush over her lower lip. But again, he didn’t linger perhaps as long as he should, and this time, when he pulled back, there was a hint of his usually shy demeanor.

“Would you like me to stay?” If she didn’t, he wasn’t going to be hurt. This would be done at her speed. Whatever pace she was comfortable with, really. Despite the hope in his eyes, his smile was one of genuine reassurance. There was no wrong answer so far as he was concerned.

When his lips claimed hers once more she responded following the lead he set for the kiss, growing more comfortable and thus, finding it even more enjoyable than before. It appeared to be that she had moved forward during the kiss, eliminating what was left of the distance between Corvus and her. Given this new closeness, and the height advantage he had on her, Vela now had to tilt her head upwards to look at him.

She hadn’t expected for him to ask if she wanted him to stay. It had been too long since the last time she had been this close with anyone. A sudden timidness overtook her, yet as the thought expanded through her mind it was replaced with a gentle, pleasant feeling. She did want him to stay. “Yeah, I’d love that.” Her expression had relaxed into a sweet one, her eyes heavy-lidded and affectionate.

There was a bit of relief to him, just then. Not because he was worried she'd turn him down, but because he was worried she'd take his question the wrong way. She'd given all the signs that said she was interested, of course, but that nagging anxiety that said 'you're imagining things' never quite left his head. Still, the softening of her face and the brightness in her eyes caused him to smile almost bashfully, the inner curve of his brow furrowed downward and the corners of his lips lifting just enough to reach the edge of his eyes.

"I'd love it too." He says simply, figuring she'd want that affirmation, even if it sounded incredibly stupid to his own ears. Looking to the door to her apartment building, he smiled again, allowing her to lead him inside.
