Throwing Out a Line

[member="Kayleigh Tyven"]

Tesh sat, eyes bulging, looking at the latest statements on the Mon Calamari Shipyards. The company had really gone downhill during its time under Silk. Tesh had worked a deal out and been transferred ownership of the company, but the process of moving the production yards back to Mon Calamari had been long and grueling, especially since his short lived stint with the Red Ravens. The official story was that he had been kidnapped, but since no ransom was ever posted, it was hard to believe. Tesh knew that there were plenty of people wanting him now, and he had to be extra careful with whatever he did.

He had just finally managed to get the last of the shipyards up and running the other day, but he had yet to order anything to be produced. The main problem, of course, was that he didn't have any buyers yet. He was looking at the Republic as one of his main buyers, as he planned to unite Mon Calamari with the Republic eventually. He was going to contact Kayleigh Tyven, the supreme commander of the Republic Combined Defense Forces and attempt to negotiate a contract. He knew he could supply them with quite a few ships, and their recent shift in military policy matched what he intended to do with the Mon Calamari Shipyards: produce smaller, but ultimately more numerous, ships instead of the classic Mon Calamari behemoths.

Carefully, he typed out a transmission.

Sender: Tesh Aquer
Recipient: Kayleigh Tyven
Subject: Mon Calamari Shipyards Contract
Message:
Hello. I am Tesh Aquer, admiral of the Mon Calamari Defense Fleet and CEO of the Mon Calamari Shipyards. I was made aware that you are looking for a new supplier of starships, and I must say I am more than happy to be able to supply you. I am offering you a chance to stay at the marvelous Coral City Reef Hotel while we work out a contract, or we could do this through transmission. I am fine with either one. Please respond as soon as possible.
Signed: Tesh Aquer, Mon Calamari Defense Fleet Admiral and CEO of the Mon Calamari Shipyards
He hit "send" and watched the transmission disappear into the vastness of the holonet. Now, all he had to do was wait.

Kayleigh's desk vibrated with the ever so recognizable hum of her datapad. Her eyes rolled, expecting it to be none other than the Senate Chief. Lazily lifting the datapad as her eyes glanced down she prepared for the worst, however to her surprise it was an unknown sender from what appeared to be the Mon Calamari. Odd. We haven't heard from them in quite some time. Lifting the datapad up closer she opened the message and began to read the proposal. A smile graced her lips as she read through the information.

Tapping the reply button she sent off the following message to [member="Tesh Aquer"] :

Sender: Kayleigh Tyven
Recipient: Tesh Aquer
Subject: RE: Mon Calamari Shipyards Contract
Message:
Greetings Mr. Aquer. The Republic has received your request for contract negotiations. We are happy to discuss shipwright deals with potential manufacturers. I will supply you with a holonet code where we may speak further via a more secure network. Unfortunately my duties at the present restrict me from extensive travel, though I am sure we can arrange for a more personal meeting in the future. I look forward to speaking with you.
The code to her holotranceiver would be enclosed at the bottom of the encrypted message with the following day's date and the time.

Tesh glanced up from his plans as his datapad buzzed against the table, creating an obnoxious grating sound. Quickly, he plucked the datapad off the table and slid it over in front of him. [member="Kayleigh Tyven"] had responded a lot faster than he had expected. Unfortunately, it seemed that she didn't have the time to visist Mon Calamari city. A shame really. The city was renowned for its beauty and architecture.

Still, she had provided a time for meeting and a code for her holotranceiver, so he would be able to contact her. He was elated that the Republic had an interest in the company. Times had been tough, and the Mon Calamari government just wasn't raking in enough money to help fund the Shipyards. However, the Republic would be able to fund them with ease. All he had to do was wait a day, but he could hardly contain his excitement.

__The Next Day_

The time had finally arrived for the meeting, so Tesh set up his own holotranceiver. He had put on his Admiral's uniform and tried to look as professional as possible. the future of the Mon Calamari shipyards, and maybe the entire planet, could rest upon the conversation. He tapped in the code before briefly stepping back as the coversation started.

"Hello Supreme Commander, I am Admiral Aquer of Mon Calamari and the owner of the Mon Calamari Shipyards," he began nervously. He wasn't used to business deals, let alone doing them over holotranceiver. He blinked nervously as he continued. "I understand you are interested in having the shipyards manufacture ships for the Republic?"
