GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Thresher
  • Designation: Semi-Sentient
  • Origins: Spilursia
  • Average Lifespan: 5 Years
  • Estimated Population: Scattered
  • Description: Thresher were a Semi-Sentient species of amphibian native to Spilursia. Tall and absurdly strong for their scrawny look, they were fearsome predators of the ocean world's deepest depths. They had very tiny eyes that were nearly useless and were extremely sensitive to light. They had keen sense of smell and hearing. Their fins doubled as a sensory organ, allowing the secretion of pheromones, reading of said pheromones, and detection of air or water currents and temperature. Their snouts offered the ability of electroreception, fallowing Thresher to "see" the faint electromagnetic field given off by living organisms. They bred quickly and died quickly, only living for a span of 5 years where they do nothing but hunt, spawn, and sleep.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
    • Can Breathe underwater
  • Average Height of Adults: 2.5 Meters Full Height
    • 1.9 Meters hunched
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Black, mottled grey with red fins
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Thresher were thin, gangly creatures with a bulbous head that was mostly mouth. Their mouths were filled with rows of sharp teeth and their long-fingered hands ended in even longer claws that were sharp enough to cut through durasteel. Thresher had red fins on their head, spine, tail, arms, and legs. For some reason, they possess both a normal skeleton and an exoskeleton which made them difficult to harm with blunt and bladed weapons. It would appear at a glance that they did not have eyes but they did in fact have very small eyes that were extremely efficient in letting light in, giving them just enough sight to hunt by but not enough to truly see.
  • Races: None
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
Strengths:
  • Double Skeleton: Their exoskeleton protects them from harm
  • Fast Swimmers: They can swim as fast as some amphibious speeders
  • Strong: Stronga s a wookie
  • Bit Force: Likely to bite your limb clean off
  • Sensory Organs: Can sense the world around them despite being nearly blind
  • Dive: Can survive ocean pressures deeper than any cared to go
Weaknesses:
  • Light Sensitivity: The extremely efficient eyes take in a large amount of light. As such consistent light frightens them and can seriously impair vision and disorient
  • Dehydration: They are mostly aquatic and can only live on land for a few hours without water
  • Energy Weapons: Bladed weapons find it difficult to harm Threshers but lightsabers and other energy-based weapons blast through a Thresher's carapace.
  • Piercing Weapons:/Attacks These can break through their carapace with enough force.
  • Susceptible to Mind Trick: Thresher are easily swayed by mind trick and other mental Force abilities
  • Gas and Gill: Gases and toxins in the water and air effect the Thresher more quickly and with greater
CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivore
  • Communication: Pheremones and screeches
  • Technology level: None
  • Religion/Beliefs: None
  • General behavior: Thresher begin life as tadpoles from hatches of hundreds of eggs and grow into a full-sized Thresher over the spawn of a few months if properly fed. Because food is scarce Thresher Spawn often resort to cannibalism in their early stages. Though they have short life spans, Thresher can enter hibernation and remain dormant for decades and centuries at a time. When they do wake and swarm they blackout the sea with their numbers. They swarm and devour all meat in their path.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Nobody is sure where they came from or how they came to be. The Thresher have terrorized the people of Spilursia since time immemorial. The Rakatta, seeing how easily their eggs could be moved and how devastating they could be on an unsuspecting enemy, took the species to the stars and used them as creatures of war. The result is that now, thousands of years after the fall of the Infinite Empire, outer rim worlds like Pamarthe and Mon Calamari, water worlds and old strongholds of the Rakatta have been seeded with dormant populations of maneaters. In more recent history, a dormant colony attacked Spilursia Minor and Spilursia Major in a brief conflict which would become known as the Black Sea Crisis. This happened shortly after the Dark Harvest which left the ocean littered with the bodies of the briefly reanimated dead. Drawn by so much food for the taking the Thresher awoke to eat their fill. They were barely pushed back by the combined efforts of the Spilursian Rangers and Spilursian Navy.
