A Hard-Fought Victory

THIRDAS HEAVENSHIELD
AN INTRODUCTION

A born soldier through and through, my youngest brother Thirdas distinguished himself not through extensive Jedi training and mastery of the Force, but rather through the grit and grime of ordinary troopers fighting alongside their Jedi allies. He always sought to distinguish himself from the rest of House Heavenshield and found his true calling with the Antarian Rangers - the elite military organisation devoted to the Order of the Silver Jedi.

I remember the day he was born. Théodred and I joined our parents on Corellia, birthplace of our mother, where now our newest sibling was to be brought into our world. In that sense, I suppose he carried more of Corellia in him than his older brother, as he was born with the same black eyes as our mother but with the golden locks of our father. An inversion of Théodred, and yet the two were rather similar in personality growing up. Whereas the elder grew up to follow in Father's footsteps by taking up a lordship of his own, however, the younger had no such ambitions and instead preferred to lead a life of simplicity. He was always drawn more towards the efforts of the common man, with a rifle in hand and boots on the ground, rather than the lofty goals of becoming a Jedi.

Once deemed old enough, our mother would take him out into the woods for shooting lessons. It soon became clear he had a natural gift at marksmanship, unknowingly guided by the Force to make impossible shots. While having received no official training in its use, I believe he is just as gifted as the rest of us, despite his reluctance to admit it. Whatever the case, it was no surprise that when finally going through boot camp, he distinguished himself both physically and instinctively, and his sharpshooting skills impressed his instructors.

Despite their differences, Thirdas does possess the same amount of kindness and gentleness as our father. However it is Mother he draws the most from when in battle, acting with a cold decisiveness as he takes down his enemies with lethal efficiency from afar. While perfectly capable of applying brute force to solve situations, he is also more cunning than most realise - again, borrowing from our mother.

By now a veteran of countless battlefields across the galaxy, his knowledge and experience in advanced military strategy and tactics are unrivalled. Time will tell what Fate has in store for the Great Wolf.

TITLES & HONORIFICS

Chief Ironside:
It was during the lengthy and bloody war against the Bryn'adûl that the commander of the 88th Jaeger Battalion was given his nickname by his troops, affectionately referring to his cybernetic prosthetics. Today, the Chief leads his Ironsides from one battlefield to the next, seemingly appearing from the shadows to lend their swords in defence of those who cannot defend themselves.
Colonel, Antarian Rangers:
From the moment he sought enlistment with the Antarian Rangers, the military arm of the Silver Jedi Order, he stood out thanks to his impressive Valkyri physique. He graduated top of his class and was immediately shipped out to the front, and has been at war ever since. Rising through the ranks, one battlefield promotion after the next saw him be awarded the rank of colonel and command of an entire battalion. The Bloody 88th was born.
Hero of Anvil:
It was the height of the Bryn War, and the Silver Jedi had been ravaged by seemingly endless defeat at the hands of their extra-galactic enemy. One world after another was lost, devoured by the Bryn and terraformed into their breeding grounds. At Sev Tok, a last desperate stand was made by a woefully unprepared local militia and a handful of Ranger companies, led by a young Lieutenant Heavenshield. The impossible victory at the city of Anvil elevated him to living legend status in Ranger lore, earning him his second battlefield promotion to major.
Butcher of the Bryn:
After his victory at Sev Tok, Thirdas was given command of a battalion of his own and wasted no time in specialising them in fighting the Bryn'adûl, using weapons and tactics far more aggressive and terrifying. Given their penchant for and effectiveness in close combat, his men always returned soaked in the blood of their enemies, earning them the moniker of "the Bloody 88th". By the end of the long and costly Bryn War, as the last of their wretched hives were purged from this galaxy, his enemies knew him as "the Butcher".
Prince of Midvinter:
While born into royalty, Thirdas was never treated differently from any other child growing up. He got into scraps with the other boys, sending more than a few bullies home with a bloody nose. In stark contrast to his siblings, who were brought up in the serene culture of the Jedi, Thirdas was raised on Midvinter with all of its challenges. He clashed often with the noble and gentle nature of his father, resorting instead to seeking understanding from his mother.
The Black Lion:
He is the son of Thurion, the Lion King of Midvinter, and as he reached manhood their similarities became plain for all to see. A peerless warrior capable of great violence and bouts of berserker rage as much as he is a creature of cunning and strategy, that inherent lust for battle burned brighter within him than any other of his house as he sought one battlefield after another. Yet, to those who know him, glimpses of his father's nobility and compassion shines through his tough exterior.
